Dear people,
some ten years ago my friend Gene (Jean, Gino) Ford, about 40+ (?) by now, an Afro-American, a very good poet, disappeared into the prison system, somewhere, for a bank robbery. Ever since then I have been trying to locate him, but because I do not know his SS# and/or his DOB, I cannot get any help through the official chanels. About two years ago I got a tip from the (then) manager of the St. Francis Soup Kitchen in Santa Cruz that Gene was in San Quentin. However, the tip is not reliable, because the manager refuses to confirm it, and wouldn't provide any additional information. I wrote to the head Warden and to the chaplain at San Quentin, but did not get anywhere; as far as I remeber, the chaplain never bothered to even answer.
I do not know to what forum to direct my search for Gene, but maybe the newspersons might?

Thank you, sincerely - Mr. Jan Hearthstone.

Hi, Hearthstone--

I think littlesmoke is right -- your best bet is going to the Lost in the System forum. You might also send a PM to BSS, one of the Super Mods, who knows a lot about the California prison system. Good luck!

Sherry :)

Hi! I was just reading your thread, and even tho you do not have his DOB or
his social, maybe you could call San Quentin and ask for mainline records.
If you have his name, and the possibility of a middle int. that may be all you
need, it's just a guess, but it wouldn't hurt to try...Ask to speak with the
Supervisor of that unit. Hope this is helpful and good luck. Suzi
