The search for a Georgia fugitive ended with gunshots. Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies, Elmore County Sheriff's Deputies and Alabama State Troopers had been chasing Shawn Dibble since Monday morning.

It all started when Dibble wrecked his car on Interstate 85, then he ran into the woods. It turns out, Dibble is wanted for aggravated battery, cruelty to children, and several drug charges.

After searching all day, officers and their dogs tracked Dibble down in Elmore County, and shot him in the foot. Dibble's other foot didn't come out unscathed. It was pretty beat up from running barefoot through the woods. Special Operations Commander Phil Sanders says, "he gave them a run for their money, but the tracking dogs, they usually get their man. They got him."

Two sets of dogs switched out through the search because of the heat. At least 15 Sheriff's Deputies were involved in the search, but none were hurt.

Marshall says the shooting will be investigated by the Alabama Department of Corrections.
