Just a Glimmer

God only knows what lies ahead,
When morning comes we may be dead.
Though life is filled with grief and despair,
There lingers a glimmer of hope still there.
As we push through the darkness in search of light,
Stumbling along in the depth of night.
The pain that tears and rips at our heart,
When exposed to the light will soon depart.
From that small speck of hope within,
Can come the strength we need to begin,
To take back our heart and clear our mind,
To break free from the oppression of darkness in time,
And emerge on a path fully lavished with light,
With hope that we never return to the night.

Susan...
Thank you for sharing that... it made my cry. JD is really struggling right now and while I am sending him mail, he is in the hospital and can't send any response (but from what I do know he is refusing to communicate at this point...) I am sending your poem to you and hope it speaks to his heart as it did mine and helps him get back on track. Thank you again for sharing it!

The Last Psalm

Yea, though I walk in the dark valley
under the shadow of death,
I will not fear evil because You, my God are with me.

You comfort me in this time of my great need,
You hold out to me Your loving arm to lean on,
and Your presence fills me with the hope of my salvation.

In the warmth of Your unconditional love
I cannot hold anything against those
who have mistreated me,
And I am released to fully forgive them.

Lord, if I pass through this valley to emerge
into life on earth once more,
Let this assurance never leave me,
Let love be my guide and forgiveness my continual partner,
As I renew my walk with You.

If I pass through this valley
Into Your presence and eternal life,
I will rejoice with praise and thanksgiving
forever and ever, Amen.
