Its not really my name anymore at all but when i first got out of jail i keep it as my screen name on aol, and now its just eayser to have the same for everything. 1. Nawna means grandma in Guam. Seeing how I am only 43 and became a g-ma at 40 I do not feel I believe I belong in the grandma club yet. So he calls me Nawna as his god parents are from Guam.

What i do is write him everyday. Before they sent him to prison he was in county for about 2 months so I would visit him as much as possible then but now I just write him, tell him my thoughts, what I did that day, How im doing in school (I go to college) and just try to remember our great times we have shared. Plus I look forward to the good times we are going to share!! :D

I keep myself as busy as possible. I work two jobs, I have a daughter, I go to the gym. I'm usually too tired after all this to stress tooooo much! ;)

Other than that, I write him everyday, reread his letters weekly, and pamper myself EVERY week. I take Sundays to pamper myself because I am ALWAYS blue after leaving him.

I write him all the time... he is my best friend so I write to him and tell him everything. Even if I am having a bad day.. I just write him and vent and he is always supportive. I try to stay busy with friends, and keep both my friends and family very close. :)

The one, a doctor, was convicted of illegally prescribing controlled medications to people but he prescribed meds (over the internet) to people he believed were legitimately in need of pain medications. I think what knocked him down in court was that he diagnosed the patients over the phone rather than in person.

The ones I work with don't have familes, or don't have families interested in their welfare. I don't think I could be as strong, though, if they were my own blood or my spouse. I don't know how you ladies and gentlemen do it--I so admire the perserverance and faith that so many of you have. You just hang in there and you don't let anyone beat you down...I fight the machine and I don't let it beat me down either, but the big difference is that while I love my students and clients, they aren't my blood or my spouse. I don't know if my back is that strong. You all have my greatest respect for simply keeping on and standing by your loved ones in the face of society's disdain. I've seen family members treated like trash by staff on visiting days, as if somehow the family members weren't "as good as them" just because their loved ones were incarcerated. It makes me sad to hear them talked down to and spoken to with disrespect. Not all staff do this, of course, but the ones who do are unkind and wrongly judgemental.
I'm always in awe of the families who forge on, despite the obstacles. :bow:

I just keep my self very busy it helps with making the time go by. I love to write to him tell him how my day is going what i am doing at that very moment it makes me feel closer to him But i have to say just staying busy helps me alot :)

4. How many years has your loved one been in prison? Four months of a 12-23 sentence. He'll get the minimum if he behaves! :p

9. How often do you visit your loved one? I don't get to visit him. :( He is in PA and I am in Texas and it's really expensive to fly. I'll be there when he gets out, but right now we survive on phone calls and letters.
10. Do you have a favorite strategy that assists you in coping with having your loved one in prison? Please share! I write to him every day and I belong to several prison sites. It's comforting to be able to talk about him in a non-judgmental forum. I guess the biggest coping mechanism I have is a good relationship with his mother. We e-mail every day and phone once in awhile and share information. It's nice to talk to someone who loves him every bit as much as I do. I really don't know how I would have made it without her.:heart:

And I am a member of a church full of wonderful people.

Like everyone I suppose writing letters helps I am indifferent when it comes to my situation, I just accept it, and deal with it like I do everything in life, I just accept it as my path and walk it with my head up.

I keep really busy and surround myself with my family (sisters, nieces and nephews) and my daughter and her friends. I have made a lot of positive changes since he's been locked up. It's my responsibility to live and build a future for both of us. I never loose sight that eventually he will be coming home and in my arms every night, until then, I need to do whatever I can to make sure we have a good life now and when he comes home.
