Once again I have a question about the phone situation in Holman. I use prisoncallsonline for my calls and a friend of mine also use this service for the collect calls from Holman. We both expected a call from our friends yesterday and we both did not hear from them! So we are very worried! My question is if someone here heard about phone problems at HCF? I´m really worried that they found out that we use this service.......... It´s strange that we both did not get a call because our friends are very reasonable persons.
Well, would be nice to hear from somebody here. I´m going crazy here........

We have had but one experience with this type of service, although we were using Telenet but I think it's basically the same.......a way to get your calls cheaper by having the calls forwarded to your home from a local number set up by that service. I don't care if they call it remote dialing or not..it is call forwarding. Oh well, the point being that when the prison found out that we were using it, our phone privileges were suspended for six months. Immediately. While it is NOT illegal, you can have a phone anywhere as long as you pay the bill, and you don't have to live there. That's the legal part. But it is my understanding that most prisons will not allow it because it cuts into THEIR income from the phones. They get about half of every call being made. That's why it's such a huge business and such a rip off to the loved ones out here who are financing it. :angry:

You might try calling the prison just to find out if their phone system is down. Or if they are on lock down or something. But read my other post for what happened to us.

thanks for the infos. Well, today my friend was able to call me. It was just a technical problem and it had nothing to do with using this phone service. So once again I was just too worried;) Anyway, we do not have another possibility, we have to use this service because I live in Europe. And I´m happy that so far everything works really good. I guess it´s like: no risk, no fun.:rolleyes:

Hi Mobby:

Some phones were out at Holman yesterday due to rain I guess and were still out this morning.

I too had expected a phone call that did not come, but I visited Holman today and was told some phones are still down.. if they are not fixed today it may not be until Monday before maintenance comes in

thanks for this info. I expected another call from my friend yesterday but nothing happened. So I will wait and see what happens today. I hope he will be able to call. Anyway, it´s good to know that I´m not alone with that problem.:-)

Well all I can tell you is that Dorm 4's phone were working both yesterday and today. I talked to Michael about 4 times yesterday and talked three times this morning. Matter fact just got off the phone with him. I was thinking maybe that big BQue they had yesterday might have had something to do with it. :) They were all excited about having a home cooked meal.

There are still some phones out at Holman, ... some are working, but I was told this morning (Wednesday 6/30) that there are still some whose phones are out...

Sure hope this is rectified soon, fortunately I have friends on both death row and population, so someone usually tells me what is going on.. (but not always)... :rolleyes: ***sigh***

I know how worrying it can be when your call does not eventuate...

Just when I thought ours was working, Mike called last night (Wednesday) and the phones cut off in the middle of our conversation. He tried to call back and it would not finish the recording. I sure hope he is able to phone in the morning, if not this will be the first time in 11 years that he wasn't able to wake me up on my birthday.

On Wednesday everything seems to be okay. I got a call from my friend in the afternoon. Hopefully nothing happened again. I will find it out later.
