My husband has asked me to look something up and I don't even know if the information is available but thought somebody here will know if it is or not......can you find out what somebody is convicted of if you know their name and AIS? I would not think you'd find details unless its a high profile kind of thing that would have web pages or something. But anyhow, I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Care

Listen, you all should be careful about looking up people's convictions for your loved one inside. You could get someone killed. I've had inmates ask me to look up other inmate's convictions and it was because they suspected the other inmate was a rapist or child molester or something. You might not care if a rapist or child molester gets hurt, but what's to say your loved one might not get hurt or killed over it, too?
Maybe you've looked things up for other reasons, and I'm sure none of you would do it for wrong reasons, but just be careful. OK? You might give the information and it might cause a whole bunch of problems you have no way of foreseeing, up to and including the person you gave out the info on finding out you were the one who gave it out, what your address is and paying you a visit when they get out.
Care, I know you wouldn't do anything wrong since I know you, but just think it clear through before doing this.

Toi,
Well said and I hear you loud and clear. Thank you for saying what you have because although I know in my situation it is relatively harmless (and I haven't even decided to do it yet), you are right in that there are way too many risks if gossip gets started and the "outmate's" (as opposed to inmate, lol) name gets mentioned.

as Toi ama said ladies, it is a very dangerous thing for everyone involved. I know my life was threatened once, not because of anything I did except for being a regular visitor. the guy had not had a visit for years and was upset that my husband was able to visit every visiting day. he even knew where I worked and my address so someone on the outside got this information for him. he was able to describe me. I moved and he once more found out my address. that was a very scary time for me.be very careful of finding out information because it can put you and your loved one at a terriable risk.

I'm sure that we all will use comman sense when we get "info". If is available to the public, then it is just that "available".
And Toi is correct, it could cause some problems. on the other hand as Sue (1950) problems that come up are not always cause by what we do.

Cember, no he never came to my home. he is serving 2 life w/o sentences. but 3 years ago he ecaped and the FBI was all over me at the address I have now. it seemed he had given my present address as his contact address.Lewis was not at that prison when I moved to Georgia. I explained the threats to the FBI and "IF" he came here that they had better be outside my door. the guy was found and the FBI had a talk to the ABI about the problem I have with him. All outside contact has been cut off for this guy and for the last 3 years I've not had any trouble from him. my nephew is a deputy sheriff in my county and for the last 3 years I've had police protection. I've never even spoke to this guy and wouldn't know him if I saw him.
