I was just wondering how did he go about proposing to you?

My 3rd anniversary of him asking is right around the corner. We are having problems with Illinois, so right now Roger "proposing" is about as close to an anniversary as I can get.

It was June 26, 2001. We were sitting in the visiting room basically by ourselves and all of sudden the phone started ringing, CO's were coming in and out and he could tell something was going on.. Seems some real rocket scientists were running from the police and heading straight towards the prison thru a cornfield. I just shook my head.

Well, we were sitting there talking and holding hands and all of sudden he started shaking. I mean his arms literally started shaking. I looked at him and said what's wrong with you, he said nothing, I was like yea right ! What's wrong !

Then he said it, he took my hands and said, "Would you give the me the honor and privledge of being my wife" before he could even finish I said YES, looking straight into his eyes.

We had been together for nine months at that time and that was our second day of visiting. It was almost perfect, no one else around, just me and him, he actually kept apologizing, saying I am sorry being in prison is not how I want to do this, It shouldnt have to be this way. But I just squeezed his hand and said, that doesnt matter, all that matters is me and you.

So that is my story. I would like to hear from others. How did your man go about asking you to be his wife and have you been able to get married yet.

I asked him. We have been best friends for 14 years. He is the only friend I still have from childhood. He's been in since 1998.

I was talking to him on the phone, and he asked me why I wasn't dating anymore. I told him I was waiting for him to come home so I could sweep him off his feet.

He said "are you serious?"

"I said, more serious than I've ever been about anything in my life - I love you more than life itself, will you marry me?"

he said "I have waited five years to hear you tell me you love me, I thought I was going to have to kidnap you when I got out and hold you hostage until you gave in"

I asked him if he was sure, and he asked me if I was crazy! hahaha... I guess he had held a secret crush the whole time he was in, but didn't want to put the burden on me of having to wait for him. He didn't want to lose me as a friend, so he kept mum through everything.

He said "Baby, I need you. Will you be my lady? Will you be my wife?"

It was right after a big huge dramatic argument we were having long before he went in. We had been together at that point about 3 years. We had been talking about getting married and I already had the ring (long story). I had given it back while we were fighting. Well, he got down on one knee and said with tears in his eyes (he's such a tough guy so I was very touched) "I don't want you to be with anyone else but me and I don't want anyone else. I love you, will you marry me?" of course I was hysterical and could only nod. We aren't married yet, we are trying to decide if we should do it while he is in there or wait till he gets out.

I asked first :D We basically had confessions of love that crossed in the mail, but when it actually came down to the marriage part, I asked him :D AND it was before we had photos of each other :D

But months down the road when we finally got to meet face to face, he proposed to me making it official :thumbsup:

Brennan asked me when I was 3 months pregnant with Weston it was cute though on how he proposal was. I was taking a shower because we were going out to dinner that night and all of sudden I turned around and he was on my knee buck naked and had a ring box I am freaking out while laughing sooo hard also. He goes'Amber Lynn you are now going to be the mother of my child and the only thing else you need to become is my wife...he goes i have so much respect for you and love to offer you I would love for you to be my wife so I can give you thoses things each adn everyday for the rest of our lives :heart: I didnt stop crying at all :)

The very first time I knew marriage was on his mind is when he told me he had a dream that we were walking in the park hand in hand and we were wearing rings. I knew at that very second, but never said much. He made severel other mentions of our future as husband and wife, but never officialy asked me. He even signed his letters a few times "love your husband", but again never asked me. Finally he started talking about someday he wanted to propose, but wanted to wait until he could do it right. He wanted to be able to put a ring on my finger as he was asking me to be his wife. Some time passed and one day I decided that I would go to walmart and get a inexpensive ring. I wore it into visiting on my right hand because I had strong feelings about not wanting it on my left hand until he put it there. One of the first things he did once settled in was count the change and get drink money out of the coin purse so while I was waiting for him I slipped the ring into the purse and as soon as he saw the ring he knew exactly what to do with it. He slipped the ring on my left finger and asked me to be his wife

This is a great thread! We have known each other and been talking off and on for 17 years!...anyway I have been by his side thru everything and finally we got to some serious talking about us in letters. Then on my second trip up there to see him and on Sun. as the last visit was ending he asked me. He was shaking and all nervous and asked if I would be his wife. It sure didn't take me long to say yes. He has been the one true love of my life. And hopefully we will be getting married Aug. 14, 2004!!

Okay....well, Shawn has been dropping hints for a while now. Today, I had my first visit with him, and he asked about a ring I had on my third left finger. "Is that a wedding ring?" he asked. "No, it's an amethyst, with my birthstone...and why would I be wearing a wedding ring?" He said, "Well, you will be as soon as you say "yes" to me...."

Totally unexpected...but the answer is definitely "yes"!

Well my sweetie didn't actually ask. In his usual fashion he just told me I was going to marry him. I asked him how are u going to just tell me we are getting married. He says the same way I told u that u were my woman 5 years ago. I almost fell out of my chair last Sunday morning. Now that would of been real funny. Well I had nothing to say cause his reply would of been it dosn't matter we getting married anyway. And he calls me Ms. Bossy, go figure. Now I have to deal with the state of Texas long drawn out paper work quota to make this man my husband. Y'all wish me God's speed.

My honey and I have been dating since I was 15 and my parents were NOT happy. I wasn't aloud to see him or talk to him. I would sneak out and leave with him. So my mom moved me in with my dad in FL. I couldn't even tell him I was leaving he found my address from my brother. I was at a mini- golf course with my cousin and someone came up behind me and covered my eyes and I said who in the world, He said " Its the guy your gonna marry" I started laughing. He drove 1200 miles to see me. I was so glad to see him he stayed in FL for 2 weeks. Finally my mom gave up and let me move back home.When we were 18 we went fishing one night and he stood up in the boat and was digging in his pocket and I thought it would be funny to push him in so I did. Needless to say the ring was lost and he asked me when he got in the boat and I said "yes" then he pushed me in. So we are gonna get married on April 5. 2005. The date that I pushed him in the lake and lost the ring:) oops

my baby francisco actually proposed just this july 3rd , in visiting at ironwood , we were on the patio , and he got down on one knee and ask "will you be my wife" people were looking so before i could say yes i had to yell at him "GET UP PEOPLE ARE STARING" :)

awww..These stories are beautiful!!!! I don't have one of my own (yet.....hopefully soon) but this man is acting kinda different...He knows I HATE it when he says he has to ask me something or tell me something but he's gonna wait till i see him next or till his next letter. Last time he did so he asked me to move in with him (i said yes of course)...I'm kinda nervous....I don't know what it could be......and i honestly don't know if i would want him to do so in the visiting room at Big Muddy-My honey will be home soon (Sept. the latest) and I am more than willing to wait forever, just as long as he never leaves my side again.

Missing Jacob, When Roger proposed to me we were in the Danville visiting room. He's now at Big Muddy.

My husband and I had discussed getting married prior to him going to jail. He at first said he wanted to wait another year before we got married...but I knew otherwise. There was no doubt in my mind that he was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with, but I agreed, knowing that his mind would soon change, or at least hoping it would!

So when he was arrested in February, he was able to call every day. We talked and talked and talked about our future and where this relationship was going. Then one day in early March he said "I have something very important to ask you" Then he called his cellmate over to the phone to "witness" He said "I love you very much and wanted to know if you would be my wife" Of course I said YES! His cellmate got on the phone and gave his congratulations, telling me how T does nothing but talk about me constantly, that he is definitely in love and wished us luck in our marriage.

So from March to May, we tried to decide on when would we get married, by proxy, in prison or when he came home. He said he didnt want to wait, that we should just do it by proxy and get it over and done with and have a ceremony later on when he comes home. So that is what we did. He had the proxy form notarized, I flew to Texas and had a mini vacation with my sister that lives there, and got married! And I am so happy to now be his wife!

Well he was my best friend (still is) one day we was talkin bout some hoodie that I didnt like and he looked at me and said: I'm down with you to the end no matter what your part of me & my life forever You and celena are and always be #1 and whoever don't like that will have to deal with it or get the F!*% on! and then he Says How soon can you become wifey? gee i wish i had a great story like you guys. in fact, I refuse to accept that this was even his proposal, I told him I expect a highly romantic one when he get's out and I actually get the ring.
but anyway, he already has a ring from a previous relationship that didn't work out and I'd always been bugging him about what he was going to do with it and when it'd finally make it onto my hand. Well after numerous discussions he called me up from county the night before he signed his deal to tell me what was going on. It was only like a five minute conversation but in the middle of it he just burst out, "So I guess I can give you the ring" to which i responded "you guess?"...and he says "Yeah, isn't this a story to tell the grandkids, your boyfriend in jail calls to say he guesses he'll marry you"

well my man assumed we were engaged! One day I said "no we aren't. you never asked me!" then he said "yes i did" and i was like "no you didn't".

I go on my visit last week (thru tv monitor) and he was talking about something to do with the future and I had no idea what in the world he was talking about. I changed the subject. Then he blurted out "will you marry me?" I said yes. we couldn't hug or kiss but we both smiled.
when i got home from the visit i got the ring. he called on the phone and said "baby i love you very much. would you give me the honor of being my wife?" I said "YES" and put the ring on.

He told me on the visit he was nervous as hell and he was glad i could not see him from the shoulders down...he must've been shaking. I asked if he was afraid i was gonna say no and he was like, "no but for the first time i was nervous and i am never nervous!" awwww.

We are engaged for 11 days today.

My Fiance' has been locked up for awhile now and he proposed to me about a month ago. It was so sweet too. I mean he talked about how he wanted me to be his wife and how he wanted to be my husband but he really never asked. he even signed his letter's love your husband. Then about a month ago He wrote me a letter and it said " I'm gonna ask u the right way when I get out but I wanna ask u now, Will you Marry me Baby?, You are my life, my world, my love, my soul, baby you are my everything so will u marry me?" Of course I wrote him back saying Yes, and then we talked on the phone 2 days later and he asked me again and I said Yes before he even finished asking me. We haven't decided if we wanna get married while he's in there or if we wanna wait til he's out. what should I do? Should we wait?

My boyfriend Bryan asked me to marry him while I was at visitation on August 1st of 2004 at Lindsey State Jail in Jacksboro Texas. He was holding our 5 month old daugther when he asked me to marry him.

We had only had a few visits and been writing about 6 months when he asked me to marry him in a letter. He's always been about three jumps ahead of me. I'm older, he has a long sentence, I said No, but I want to date you when you get out. He refers to me as his wife to all his friends. then he told his daughter and mother that I told him NO! geez. Rodney has asked me to marry him several times. I kept turning him down! Not because I didn't want to but because I know what a wonderful artist he is and knew he could be more creative. The last time I told him no we were in a check out line at a grocery store and he pops off. "So when you gonna marry me girl?" Then he looks at the cashier and says " Don't you think she should marry me?" The check out lady just smiles and says Does she want too? ......lol I told him he had to come up with a better way than that! Gene asked me by sending me a newpaper article about the army ranger doctor whos been declaring his innoceance since convicted in the 60s or 70 s ...he got married in prison and his wife is fighting for his release and it was a great article ...in it she said this line about getting married to an inmate " I cant look at him and say ill marry u when u get out and things are perfect " .....she said ..." if you love someone ...you love them when its at its lowest point and thank god for the highest points ...but yet you remain there wife through it all " We hadnt mentioned marriage before then even though I knew I wanted to marry him ....I didnt know how to respond to it and wasnt sure if he had just sent me intresting reading or a hint lol ...so at the end of a call he says to me ...THAT WAS A HINT ...and I wrote him and said id marry him in a heartbeat if hed ever ask ....In the next call he said ...I am not going to ask you until your are face to face with me ..but you can go ahead and start ring shopping ...gave me a description of the rings he had in mind and asked me to have the jeweler give me a picture of them so he could decide and send the money lol ...but yet lol he hasnt OFFICIALLY asked me yet lol ....

Well he officially asked me yesterday :D !!!!! But he has been refering to me as his wife for a while now. I told him that I refuse to accept that until he asks me! So last night I went for a wonderful 2 hour visit, sitting across from him just having a normal conversation he looks at me kind of funny than he says Baby will you be my wife? I wanted to CRY!! I looked at him dumb founded I couldn't do anything but smile the biggest smile possilbe I nodded my head I tried not to cry all I really wanted was to give him a big hug and kiss but the prison he is in is picky NO touching during the vist... its so hard its like he is less than 2 feet away from you. :angry: but I finally was able to manage a yes to come out.:cool: After all the excitement he told me that he was sorry that he couldn't get down on one knee and do it the right way or even be able to hold my hand. That made me want to cry even more. I told him that he doesn't matter how its done to me just that it was sincere. He said that he wants to be the only man to make me smile and cry at the same time, that he is going to be the only man to lay in bed with me and hold me til the sunrises. And that he is willing to do anything to make sure I am happy. I did tell him that if MN allowed conjucial visits it would be on :thumbsup: hehehe He told me that when he gets out he is going to do it the right way with a ring and all.

I Actually Asked Him To Marry Me!!! We Were On A Visit One Day And I Was Looking Into His Eyes As He Was Talking To Me And I Was Really Feeling Him Deep In My Heart. Before I Knew It I Had Started Making A Aring Out Of A Napkin, And He Looked And Asked Why Was I Making A Ring, And He Said "are You About To Propose To Me??" I Denied It At First Then Finally I Asked Him If He Would Marry Me In A Year, And He Said Yes. I Kinda Felt That He Took It As A Joke, So About A Month Later I Was Telling Him How I Felt About It And Told Him Id Be Ready To Marry Him When He Was Serious About It. Then He Got On One Knee And Looked Me Dead In My Eyes And Proposed To Me!!! I Wanted To Cry...he Was All Teary Eyed Too. Thats When It Was Really Official. So I Guess We Proposed To Eachother And Ended Up Getting Married 5 Months Later, Which As Of Today We Have Been Married For 2 Weeks!!! :D

It's good too that he's got strong family support, or at least from his mother. That's important. Very important. I know some whose families have all given up on them because of being in and out of the system so many times. Your Gene sounds very different than all that. :love: :love:

Sorry I didnt get back to yall and update you sooner lol things have just been crazy ! Gene and I met and my knees were weak from being totally terrified as I had never been in a prison before . I saw some guys waving to me from inside the fence but I was to scared to wave back . Sure enough it was him and his friends . Pender is very small and kinda mayberryish lol ...staff was friendly and when I walked into that visitation room ....I saw him ...His face lit up and so did mine . I walked up to him with shaking knees and He kissed me so deep I almost fainted . It wasnt the usual first kiss akwardness ...it was perfect and that took us both by surprise . He then looked down at me ...and I do mean down cause the man is waaaay tall lol and said ..now ...will you marry me ....I managed a yes ....since then I have been back to the prison 4 times ...met his parents ...saw where he grew up ...and this weekend I go spend the night with my soon to be in laws for the weekend and see my man again . This time for a 2 hour visit since my drive is so far . For easter I got a shock . He sent a card and inside was a 200. money order . He said He knows he should be home and taking his girls (me and my daughter) shopping and getting easter dresses but since he cant ...he will be all the man he can be and make it possible for his girls to go shopping . I almost fainted and have no idea how long it took him to save that kind of money . He is now getting the engagement ring that he insists on buying even though I told him I didnt need one . He said its a temporary ring and when he comes home that one goes to my daughter and he will put the kind of rock on my finger I deserve . We are still trying to decide on bands ...this man is so picky lol ....so ...we met ...and a hundred letters and thousand dollar phone calls later ...the Marriage is on . Family somewhat freaking out ...noone will be my maid of honor ...not even my bestfriend because her boyfriend ...my cousin used to be a county jail guard and wont allow "his" woman into a prison ...which is fine ....if not a soul will come with me ...ill do it alone . I know this is the man I have longed for my entire life .

Hhmmm... how did it happen for us exactly..?

Well actually, pretty early on into our relationship Adam told his family (and my best friend!) that he was going to marry me one day. That was sweet 'n all, but I wish that I had been the first to hear about it. :rolleyes:Oh well.
Then sometimes he would joke around with me and say "You can marry me if you want to.. no really, you can" :p
SO, this past New Years Eve we were going up to Reno, NV with all our friends and on the way there, I said to him "You can marry me if you want to.. no really, you can" and he was like:

It was a really sweet and super romantic weekend. We got married at the little chapel in our hotel on New Years Day (2005).
And then when we got home, January 3, he had court - :cuffs: :shake: :broken:

Actually,,,,,I asked him,,,,,I sent hima lette and asked him "Will you marry me?" in spanish.....he answered me back in English,,,,,YES!!!! we were married 3 months later

He asked on Valentine's Day the year after he went in. There is a tree on the patio that I love to sit under because it makes me forget where I am and for some reason I feel the ultimate peace when we are there. Often times when were sitting there I will lay my head on his shoulder and fall asleep.

On this particular day we were both very quiet and just spent a lot of time looking at each other. It started off as a "how do we feel at this stage of our relationship" conversation and he mentioned that he was sorry he'd never asked me to be his girlfriend in high school. I kinda laughed and he said that he wanted to make it right. I told him that it was a little late since we'd been serious for some time now and he smiled. We talked about all the "old" high school memories and how we were both too young to see that our friendship would grow to be what it is. He said he'd been praying on something for a long time and he wanted to share it with me. He said I was the biggest blessing he'd ever gotten in his life and God had put it on his heart that he would never find anything as strong, loving, beautiful, and perfect as me.

He told me that he wanted to protect, provide, and love me forever and asked if I would bless him further by becoming his wife. Before I said yes he took my hand and we prayed together. We asked God to bless our commitment to him and to each other. When I opened my eyes he said, "You better say yes nigga" and ofcourse I did!!!!

When he gets home we are planning a trip to Egypt so we can get married in front of the pyramids....

jbs it's a shame your girlfriend won't stand up for what SHE wants to do! do you have a PTO friend who goes to the same prison to visit and can stand up for you?

I do know someone but not to well . I think more then likely itll be my daughter and jbs parents who will be there ...which is just fine ...and boy you really see where u stand with people when you make this kind of decision .

Well my man asked me twice once before he went in, we had broken up and I left state he hurt me real bad anyway I had came back and needed to just see him and I called him and I went to go pick him up. He wanted to take me to this park that I had no idea was there it was a little difficult getting there but we made it. He just kept telling me how beautiful I was and how sorry he was and he called me his red-haired blue- eyed angel and got down on one knee and proposed and I said NO boy do I regret that answer till this day. The only reason I said no was because he hurt me soo bad and I wanted to talk things out and work things out before we took that step, well that no sent him off he says now that he wishes I had said yes and that's why he has been so reluctant to ask again. He said I wouldn't have asked if I knew your answer would have been no. I felt it was out of desperation of the fear of loosing me. That was 8 years ago and we have had a long hard road really we have and May 20th 2005 he asked me again on the phone but he said he was down on one knee I said yes in a heart beat. I love that man with everything I have I have gone through so much and it never stops me from loving him. He said he wants to do the right way when he gets out, we will not be getting married in prison he is dead set against it, the way he says we can't even consumate the marriage and he can't wear a suit and I can't have the wedding dress of my dreams and we can't even have wedding cake lol he is so cute. Then we just found out that he won't be up for parole again for 24 mo. which really sucks but after that he should be out yeah! All I have to wait for is two years nothing comapred to the 8 I allready have and time goes so fast for me it'll be here in no time well that's what I like to tell myself lol!

My baby asked me in a letter at least twice and then again in the visiting room on Valentines Day 2004. We are to be married on November 12, 2005. :)

well me and John had been talking about in for awhile and were going over dates that we liked and then on Valentines Day I got a package and he had drew a precious moments boy holding a long scroll with a message and a poem on it and then at the end it said "So baby I was wondering will you marry me" awww I have that hanging on my wall. Last week was our 1 month anniversary man it went by fast we were talking on the phone and I said "baby what is today he said the 24th" and we both go "OMG we have been married a month" :) ahhh he is the sweetest

we had known each other for about 16 years and had been writing for 8-9 months and knew that this was it. "the one" the forever love. we were at visit and he was extremely fidigity and i kept asking what was wrong. he swore it was nothing so about 30 minutes before visit was over he said ok, this is what i have had on my mind. he pulled out his wallet and he had a piece of paper from the night before where he had written everything he wanted to say. (he wasnt allowed to get down on one knee) so he just took my hand and started reading it. he was shaking and his voice was quivering. i am still oblivious to the fact he is proposing. until i see at the bottom of the page WILL YOU MARRY ME? i started smiling like never before. and of course said yes. i will get to say yes officially on june 16th when i become mrs. harrelson.!!!

Its so great to hear everyones stories on how there hubbies proposed. I never thought I would be telling my story. Just today my baby Jovani called me at exactly 5:41 PM. He told me that he has thrown his life away and all he wants to do is start fresh and have a wife and children. He told me that a woman like me is hard to find and that he is truly madly deeply in love with me. He then asked me what would I think or say about getting married and being his wife forever. I ofcourse said are u serious and he said yes he was serious. And I said I love you. Ane then he said so we is gonna do this and I was like lets do this! So now he is getting the info together and we are thinking about doing it like 6 months from now. He did ask me almost a week ago about us getting married but I thought he was just playing around. I totally brushed it off but did think about what if he was serious. So now soon I will be Mrs. Acevedo and I could not be happier. He said once he gets out we will have a church wedding. My baby just asked me yesterday! I don't know how he did it, but he pulled a ring out of his pocket and put it on my finger! He wanted to get down on one knee but he was too nervous! I am sooooooooo happy!

He had my engagement ring sent to me in my b'day card 3 years ago, and then a letter followed with him asking me to be his wife!! :) Of course i said YES, YES, YES!! :D We plan on getting married at the end of this year, if everything goes as planned. If not, we have to postpone it until the beginning of next year.

My husband was in County, facing some time when we first met. I was teasing him about having to marry him to get family visits and he told me " I want to marry you, but not for the family visits". That was only about a month after we met and we were married less than a month later. About 8 weeks time in all. That was almost 4 years ago, and although he beat that charge, he's been doing 26 months on a different one. 5 onths to the gate!!

Well, my honey and I were friends for 3years before we became a couple. And we've been a couple for a year since March 6 , 2004. He got arrested December 16, 2004 for breaking his probabtion. In January the conversation of marriage was occuring all around me. Even he had been talking about it. You could tell he was stalling and just not asking. :idea: Finally January 1, 2005 I just did it for him. He was in Del Valle behind glass. I finally just said :D "John can I have you?? Will you be mine and nobody elses??" he told me "that's the plan!" He now refers to me as his wife to everyone. :thumbsup: It's taken a lot to get him to that point. It really melted my heart is the first time I found out he told his brother about me and what I ment to him. He didn't just refer to me as his "Best Friend."

My fiance dropped hints for several weeks on the phone....the cutest hint was one day he called and immediately upon the phone connecting our call - he asked if I liked his name. Of course I said yes, he said do you like my first name? I said yes. He said do you like my last name? I said yes - why? His reply was ...do you want to share it with me? Awwww :) Of course I said you're silly and thought he was just playing around but a couple of weeks later I received a call from him and he asked me to be his wife. We are in the process of getting our paperwork done but running against a deadline...his release date is in September. CDC likes to take their "sweet time" so we may wait until he's released!

which time? he has propose three times, the first time he asked me to find out what we would have to do for me to carry his name. The second time he went thru this going steady, engaged, getting married Will you marry me scenario then the third time he wrote about sprinkling rose petals all over and getting down one knee, a very romantic one. I accepted all three.

I'm afraid ours wasn't as romantic as a lot of these. We'd been together for a couple of years when Coy got locked up this time. He was still married to his 2nd wife even though they hadn't lived together in at least 5 years by then. Neither one of them would ever agree to pay for the divorce so they just stayed married. She left him when he got locked up last time, moved one of his friends in before he even caught chain. And 15 years ago, his first wife took off and left their newborn son and him while he was locked up. So he wasn't very keen on trusting women or being married. he'd always told me that if he ever managed to get divorced, he was NEVER getting married again, that he'd live with me till the day he died but no marriage. Well, a couple of days after he got locked up in county, on the phone, out of the blue, he told me i needed to call his then wife and tell her he wanted a divorce and we'd pay for it and i said, ok, but why? And he said so we can get married. floored me...I told him ok but i'd stand by him whether we were married or not. i didn't want him to marry me and then be sorry afterwards or feel i'd pushed him into it. he told me that he knew that being married wouldn't make me wait for him, he knew that the hard way. but he didn't think he could go for years not able to touch me and just visiting thru glass. So he thought he could get over his marriage phobia. So we started the divorce thing and he had my teenaged daughter pick out my engagement ring for him. then before it was all final, we had a fight and split up. There was a problem with one of the divorce papers but since we weren't speaking i didn't worry about it. And his wife didn't want to pay for anything so she didn't fix it either. Well, a couple of months later we got back together. he told me in a letter that he'd be proud if I'd put my engagement ring back on but he didn't want to get married by proxy and by this time, he'd already caught chain so there was no other option. Then about 2 months later, he found out he had a "hold" on him from our county on another charge. So he wrote me and told me to get the divorce done so we could have a "real" wedding when they brought him back.:)
So we did the divorce and got married in the judges chamber with our family and friends all there. The only bad thing was he couldn't wear real clothes so he's in black and white stripes and I'm wearing a pretty lace dress. LOL. We're going to have the reception and honeymoon when he gets home. And when he went back to TDCJ, we got to have contact visits. So he says i'm stuck with him forever cause he always said he'd never do this again. he's decided its not so bad though, he was just never married to the right woman before.:D

Jose and I have been together since 97 on and off. Last Monday I split the visit with his mom and he asked me to let her see him first. When i went to the booth to see him, i was so telling him how much i missed him, when he told me to look down. There was the engagement ring, he had asked his mom to bring. I was so shocked, i was speechless. I was so happy, but now i have to wait 3 years till we tie the knot. :(

Wow I certainly can't beat any of these post. I am just wondering how all of you do it? That is find Mr. Right and a man that can show love, by simple jesters, or heck surprise rings etc. I lost my guy months ago, the father of my daughter. He says he still loves me and wants no one else however there is a huge trust issue here. The fact that I have no clue if he is telling the truth, and if he really wants us. Hes always saying hes sorry and lets move past everything and start over, but my heart has been broken many times by him. Its hard to forget all the pain. And hes 12 hours away so contact is pretty impossible. Don't get me wrong I love him and hes a great father, but how long do you keep on trying to fix the past? Does he really mean what he says? I told him I was sure that I could and would love to do this and be with him forever. A couple of months went by and he still hadn't officially asked me and I was starting to get impatient :rolleyes: lol. So he tells me now that his original plan was to ask me on Christmas eve 2002, but when I went to visit they gave us a twenty-minute visit (in that jail, it was up to the guards how long they gave you :rolleyes: Not good!) and before he could ask me, they came to get him. I was wondering when I left that day why he was SO upset when they came to get him. So when I came to visit the next week, on December 29, 2002, my baby said "Hey I want to do something..." as he reached for a little slip of paper from his pocket. I looked at him with a curious smile on my face, and he held a "Love Is" comic up to the glass. The comic read "Love Is...telling the world you're engaged" and on it he had written "Will you marry me?". I looked at him with the biggest smile on my face with my eyes tearing up and of course I said YES!!! He then said that he loved me so much and that I was beautiful and he couldn't see anyone else being his wife forever. It was the happiest moment of my life. :) This June we will have been a couple for three years, and this July we will have been married for two years! :)

well it was actually 2 weeks after we met. LOL.. but we went to walmart to go shopping. and then when was leaving we were by our car. he got on his knee and said Will you marry me. He didnt give me a ring or anything that night. I got a engagement ring a few months later. About 1 year later it was a wednesday and we decide to get married that friday. LOL.. so we called everyone imporatnat and said were getting married on friday so come. So I didn really get my wedding ring until that day. It has been 3 years since then and i have gotten 3 wedding rings total not including the engagement ring. which actually means the most since it was the first one he had bought. We were kinda poor back then and each year money gets better so I get upgrades. LOL.. But this ring i got a few months ago cost 499.00 and I think it will be a few more years before I get another one. Im not complaining or anything. Because I really love this one more then the rest. Plus its not about the ring its about the love for each other.

So we met March 1st ish 2001 got married March 22, 2002, had our first and only child March 24th 2004.

Deon has been bringing marrige up to me for several months off and on and we said when he gets out we'll get married. Well, May 19th he transferred out to Jackson for daignostics, then May 26th his brother died. June 1st was the funeral. His family paid to have him and his baby brother brought to the service.

After the service was over and we were all standing outside in the drizzling rain and we were finally able to get a minute to ourselves, he looked me in my eyes told me life was too short, said he loved me and said he was ready to get married now. I was shocked you know, I said at Jackson, will they let us. He told me yes he had already spoken with the chaplain and I need to go to probate court here in my county and get a marriage app, fill out my portion and mail it back the chaplain.

So, you best believe it when I am off on Thursday I am running to the courthouse to get that app!!!

we loved to play scrabble. he's the only person i've ever played who can beat me, and i loved having a great scrabble partner. We'd get very competitive. He said, "i've got a word for you!" He started on the triple word score in the left corner and i was like "you don't have a word that big" and he started "WILLYOUM" i started crying, he brought out the ring, his hand was shaking.

Hey there well my honey and i thought he would be getting out like in 6 months but they sentences him to 4 years with 85% this 7/21/05 he will have 1 year already, so one day i went to go visit him at the county jail and he aksed "Hey babe can I ask you something" and i said WHAT! i thought he was going to say something else and he said I love you and i want to be with you for the rest of my life at this point my heart want to come out of my body! ans said with tears in his eyes babe will you marry me ans my face dropped i was like what did you say and he said babe will you be by wife! and i told him that I did not know then I said are you serious and was crying and he said dont i look serious so i told him babe give me some time to think please its a big step so i was kind of waiting to see what they said in his trial but they kept on laging on it and couple weeks before they sentences him i went up to visiting and he asked me again and i finaly told him YES he was so happy he jumped out of his seat and told the guys next to him she YES dog ! and looked at me with his big dropey eys and said to me you madt happiest man alive and he went on telling me how he felt about me and we both cried,so know we are just waiting for a wedding date after 7 months!

These stories are all soooo sweet! Me and my man have talked about marriage, worked out all the details, even set a date and let the familes know, but he still hasn't 'officially' proposed. I made the comment, and he said he wanted to do something memorable and genuine. I joked about him writing me a letter to propose and he said "No way, you're too special for that." :) Awww...made me melt, so I'm still awaiting the big question...hope we don't get all the way to the alter without being proposed!

We had only been a couple about 2 weeks. We were laying in bed, just finished making love. I'll never forget the words, and he said, "I swear I will never in my life touch another female besides you. Will you make me the happiest man alive and become my wife?" He bought me a ring a week later. He always talked extensively about all he ever wanted in life was a family and how being with me was a dream-come-true. Ah, I love remembering when he was out.

well, mine asked this weekend. I am so happy but he was cute about it. See I'm not one to wear jewelry and he hates that. He's always telling me to get me a new chain but this time he was focus on my hands. He told me to get rings and I told him I wouldn't really wear it so why would I get it? i was sitting across from chris in a visit, and we were talking about the possibility of the judge giving him 5 years mandatory. he was so nervous and all he kept asking was, "you promise you won't leave me?" "promise you'll love me for always?" and i kept looking him right in the eye promising him. his aunt gave him a plain band with a simple diamond in the middle of it before she died. he's always worn it. so he looked down at his hand...and silently slipped the ring off his finger. i was looking, but i wasn't expecting that at ALL. then he slid it quietly across the table...it made a light sound as it scraped across the wood. he looked me straight in my eyes and said, "i love you. forever." i took the ring, and needless to say, put it on my own finger. my heart was thumping, and as our visit ended, he said, "never take it off. when i get downstate, we're getting married as soon as i can file the application." i just had these watery eyes, and all i could do was nod. so we didn't do the traditional thing...he didn't even have to ask lol. but then again, i suppose nothing is so traditional anymore haha. i'm not even getting another ring. this ring IS my wedding ring because it means so much to him. when he comes home, then we'll pick out rings together. chris used to be very "street" when he was younger, and the ring not only has an odd shape from being bent, but the diamond setting is bent and odd shaped as well. i can only imagine what stories it could tell if it could speak! i haven't taken my ring off once, except when i was in the hospital and my fingers got so swollen it was hurting me. then i took it off my ring finger and slid it on my pinky :thumbsup:

it's been 5 months since my love made the promise to marry me. we have to wait 2 more months for him to be shipped to his permanent state prison, and another month for the application to be filed and approved. i'm hoping to be a christmas wife! :D

My baby asked me before he went in but they way he did it was so cute. He had taken me roller blading which I hadn't done in for ever. We went down to this little park by where we use to live. It was fall time so there were leafs all over the ground so him and I got into a leaf fight (I started but he beat me in the end I have leafs everywhere but thats okay it was fun). We sat down on this bench and took my hands and started telling me how much he loved me and how much I meant to him. He told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and gone down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The funny thing is, is that when he started to get close to asking me to marry him all of the people in the park seemed to disappear so it was just him and I. Its a day that I will never forget.

When i first met my man he always said it would take someone really special for him to even think about marriage.. About a month after we were officialy together he had my kids calling me Mrs.Sanchez... They would drive me nuts with that and marriage only came up a few times when it did he would say his friend has a girl that he loves and wants to marry her he dont know if he should or not because he dont know if she would say yes because he wants to marry her while he is in.. I always told him that if she loved him enough she would. Well finally about 3 weeks ago now he comes out and says to me i have something i need to tell you i tried about two months ago but i couldnt tell you, So coming from him i was getting nervous he comes out and says i found that special someone i want to spend the rest of my life with will you marry me? I was in shock i said what he says it again louder and the phone says you have 15 seconds left so i counted down 10 and then said sorry i and then the phone went dead he called me back in a panic and asked again and i told him i would marry him he was so excited.. He got the paper work the same day and everything but we wont get a date until january he has to be there for 6 months first.. Needless to say he is now called lover boy at the same time his friends and family think he is insane.. Because as far as everyone knew Noonie was alergic to marriage so everytime i speak with one of his friends or family they ask me how the hell i did it..

Last June, 2004 , while awaiting his trial/plea, my boy took me to the Van Halen Concert in Buffalo{I wasn't a fan,in fact- this was my first "rock" concert}. He had made up this banner on a sheet, but wouldn't let me see because he said I " wouldn't approve of the language" . Anyway, before Sammy Hagar was about to sing "Right Now" , Chad threw his banner toward the stage and Sammy Hagar caught it, I was actually embarrased like he did not just throw a sheet on that stage!! I was looking at the people's reaction around me, when someone looked at me and yelled "hey, look up there" I looked up and Sammy Hagar is holding this banned that read's "Hey Beautiful, will you marry me?" I turned around and Chad was on his knee with a ring. I kissed him trembling in shock!! Couldn't even speak, Sammy Hagar said "well?" the people yelled, "YES" Sammy said.."she said yes!" We were on the big screen for a few seconds, then Sammy wore the banner around his waist and sang Right Now. It could NOT have been more perfect, like a dream....I am now a fan ofcourse. Chad didn't plan it, he just hoped it would work out, a once in a life time chance he said, and it happened. He has always been a huge fan of Van Halen, and had been to concerts before.
He was sentenced 11/04 and is now in Wyoming Correctional. 2004 was the best year for me in many ways, but also the worst. But moving on... We are getting married this Saturday, 9/10/05!! We dreamed of a July 4rth wedding, but sometimes life's journey takes a detour and you have to go with the turns, so a September Wedding it is. Keep us in your prayers, thanks!

before we began visits, all we had was our mail, in which we would write every day sometimes I would even recieve 2 or 3 letters in a day. So he began bringing up marriage I Noticed in every recent letter, i could tell he was leading up to something and getting closer and closer to asking. so one letter on sept 8, he says he is down on one knee annd proceeds to say marry me and i will be the happiest man in the world! it was so cute how he did it, and of course i said yes!!!! we are getting married in November

i worked at the regional where i met my hubby to be , i worked in the medical part, i was takeing his blood pressure throught the beanhole(lol) and before i started he grabbed my hand and on his knee asked me to be his angel, his wife and life long partner, i cried and yes. and cried the rest of my shift. from that day on, we are married just waiting on the paper work. he didnt have a real ring to give me, but did draw one, taped it in a cirlce and gave it too me that was in july, it is now oct and my birthday is coming up on the 24 th and Rob told me today on our visit that he has a birthday surprise for his wife

I Can't believe it's actually my turn to write here. At our visit this weekend on Saturday me and my man were standing in line at the soda machine and he said "Baby I've been trying to find the courage" and I said "for what" and he put a ring on my finger and said "Baby will you be my wife" and of course I said "yes" and then he kissed me. Then later he said he had had a poem but they wouldn't let him bring it out and he would send it to me in the mail. Then the visiting room was packed and he asked me if i wanted him to get on one knee and i said no, then he said he would go ask to borrow the microphone and i said no. I love him sooooooo much!!!:p :thumbsup:

Actually it was this past Thursday. He said something like when we getting married and I said when you come home and he said but we are getting engaged while I am in here aren't we? I was cracking up I could barely get out of course baby. These men . gotta love em

I call my significant other my "fiancé" though it wasn't official. Well when I arrived home on Tuesday there was a package waiting that UPS had left and I just thought it was legal papers from him, etc... but I was pleasantly surprised to see he had sent me a couple's waterfall music box that plays the "Wedding March" and a hand blown glass castle because he calls me his princess. In my mailbox the next day was a letter from him asking me to marry him. I am waiting for him to call so I can "YES"! So, it's official. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten engaged.

We haven't married yet. What I try to do every day is to live in the moment and embrace what we have now and not think too much about later. I also would like to hear from couples who have been married for a while and how things are going with them.

my man has been locked up since 2002. i called myself moving on with my life. it was a disaster. i got pregnant by another man that ended up being full of Sh*t. while i was pregnant, jeremie (my fiance') and his family continued to love and accept me and my child still. his mother cared for my child up until her dying day as she was her biological granny. jeremie's brothers and father help me out with my child and everything. well....jeremie wrote me saying that it was time to go ahead and make our relationship eternal. i said yes. i went down to the courts and got the marriageproxy papers to send to him, but now i wonder if we could get married at the unit he's at and what all i need to do or bring.

well,it all started with a 5 page letter I wrote him one night,I was just on a roll,finding all the right words,letting him know just how much I loved him.He came out from rec right after he read it,still crying and emotional from my letter,and he asked me to marry him.He said he could never feel this way about anyone else,and he knew he would rather just die than to ever be with someone else.Of course I said yes,so I will keep you posted when the actual event takes place.

Kurt asked me when he first went in, after he was in county a little over a month. He had talked seriously about it in his letters. So I knew it was coming soon, just by the way he was building it up. So one night when he called, we were talking all normal then i can hear him get nervous! I'm like "what's wrong?" he says nothing.....of course and a semi long pause lol. Anyway, he said basically the same thing Roger said to you Shel, he said "Would you do the honor or becoming my wife?" I was nervous too......I said "I'd love to!" It was crazy......that was April 16th of this year. We're not married yet, we're trying to decide if proxy marriage is the way to go for us.

That is so cool he asked you April 16th of this year!!! Love must have been in the air that day b/c April 16th of this year my fiance called me up after leaving my house to tell me that he loved me for the first time. He purposed to me the 29th of September and now we are getting married the 16th of this month!!! I'm so excited!!! It was cute when he purposed. We drove down this little road where there was a R.V. park with a big beautiful pond that had a water fall in the middle of it. He pulled up to the pond, got me out of the truck and got down on one knee. I will never forget that "I'm a scared little boy" look he had on his face and the shaky voice. He was so nerveus, he put the ring on the wrong hand. I was shaking too.

Actually, my love, Eric, had asked me on March 23 of this year but when I went down to visit him right after this past Thanksgiving Day, IT WAS OUR FIRST CONTACT VISIT EVER, he had secretly gotten permission from the guards on duty......

.......he then got down on one knee in front of everyone there and asked me to marry him...of course I said yes..he picked me way up high and hugged me, turned to everyone in the room and said....
"she said yes!!!"

he mentioned it ina letter telling me that he can see us married and that he want to make me his wife but i thought he was just talking you know because guys say whatever when they are in jail so i thought.

so i brought it up in out visit and i was like whats up with what u wrote...he got that cheesy grin and was like marry me..and i was like what? he was like will u marry me tonya, i love u and i want u to be my wife...i said yes but it wasnt real to me...he proposed thru a glass window for goodness sakes...but over time i realize this man was for real... when we had our first contact visit...he proposed again and i cried. i cant wait till he gets out....

LOL this is hard to answer. . . technically, my man has been asking me for about 5 years; going back to when we were just friends; we would each be having issues with our respective others at the time, and he would say when are we going to take our heads out of our asses and just marry each other?

but last year when we really started to get serious and all others had been out of the picture for a while, he asked me if i was serious ( i had once told him i would marrry him when we were 50 and not a day sooner). i said he was making me re consider; i had also said after my divorce NEVER again. . . so on a visit he looked at me and put his hands on my face and held me really close, looking me dead in the eyes and told me how much he loves me and how badly he wants to marry me, and that hes ready when i am.

i told him then that it could be years. i just didnt see the point of marriage anymore. . . so over this past year its changed for me. . . every so often he asks me if i will please be his wife; about a month ago we were on the phone 3 way with his mom and she asked us how serious it was; he said "I love her so much mom and i want to marry her. . . shes the one holding up the show". we all laughed; the next time i saw him on a visit i told him i will get the piece of paper when he comes home; because to me, marriage is more about it being a committment in your hearts not the paper.

the end result is his mom and i went ring shopping 2 days ago. his christmas present is me and my duaghter showing up for a christmas visit asking him to marry us and us saying our vows to each other now. . . we will have the rings with us :)

he wrote in a letter "when are you going to get your name changed?" I though he meant going back to my maiden name or something.. so when I went to his college graduation, he asked me again... I said "what are you talking about?" He said "I'm talking about changing it to MINE, I want you to be my wife." That was that. We were married 9 weeks later!

It was on dec 20 of this year. His sister and I were coming home from a court date where we got to see him from a distance, but didn't get to talk to him. Anyway, the subject came up of marriage. His sister told me that she had recommended that he marry me at Excalibur's, and he had agreed that it would be a great place, but there was no way that he could ask me to go through being an inmate bride (his words) and wait all that tiime for him. I told her that I had been thinking that once everything dies down and smooths out, and we know just where he is going to be sent and for how long, that I was going to propose to him. The subject was changed, and we moved on in the conversation.

That night, he called from the detention center, and this time he brought up the subject while talking about various visitation rights. He had mentioned married couples getting conjugal rights, but didn't want me to have to go through life with a hiusband in prison. I told him that it was funny he should mention it, and then told him the same thing I had told his sister. He responded with, "I love you!" and then had to hang up so someone else could use the phone. About an hour-1 1/2 hours later, he called me back, and asked, "Where did our last conversation leave off?" I replied, "We were talking about inmate brides."
"Oh. Well, did I propose to you?"
"No, I think I proposed to you."
"Oh. Well, did I say yes?"
"No, but you did say I love you."
"Oh.....YES!!!!!"

The next letter I received from him had it in writing so I can read it over and over. he says he feels like he is in high school again, all giddy. I laughed and cried at the same time.
SO! we are now engaged, and I am looking for info on the rules and regs for an inmate wedding in new Mexico.

He asked me in a park... after we had left the zoo next door.

We spent a couple of hours walking around the zoo and it closed. We weren't ready to go home yet and had been talking about what our lives were like.
We had only been around each other for 6 days... and he had to leave soon. He drove truck for living... long distance.

He started talking about how much he'd thought about me thoughout the years and how he'd looked for me.
How much he missed me and how he still loved me like it was yesterday... not 20+ years ago.
He got down on one knee in the park and asked me "If I'd remarry him?".
I said "Yes, if you come back to stay". He stayed for 7 more days and was supposed to be gone for 3-6 weeks.

He was back in just 6 days and he gave up a 15 year career driving. He had a local job within 2 weeks and we were very happy. Two months after that he was arrested. We were remarried 6 months after he asked in the jail.

I've never stopped loving you.

Daryl was on one of his eight hour passes away from the center, and we were lying in bed when he asked. He climbed on top of me (he was actually kneeling) and he took my hand and said, " I love you, you are my everything, without you there would be no me, will you marry me?". I said yes and he slid a beautiful engagement on my finger. Now, we are getting married in a month.

My 3rd anniversary of him asking is right around the corner. We are having problems with Illinois, so right now Roger "proposing" is about as close to an anniversary as I can get.

It was June 26, 2001. We were sitting in the visiting room basically by ourselves and all of sudden the phone started ringing, CO's were coming in and out and he could tell something was going on.. Seems some real rocket scientists were running from the police and heading straight towards the prison thru a cornfield. I just shook my head.

Well, we were sitting there talking and holding hands and all of sudden he started shaking. I mean his arms literally started shaking. I looked at him and said what's wrong with you, he said nothing, I was like yea right ! What's wrong !

Then he said it, he took my hands and said, "Would you give the me the honor and privledge of being my wife" before he could even finish I said YES, looking straight into his eyes.

We had been together for nine months at that time and that was our second day of visiting. It was almost perfect, no one else around, just me and him, he actually kept apologizing, saying I am sorry being in prison is not how I want to do this, It shouldnt have to be this way. But I just squeezed his hand and said, that doesnt matter, all that matters is me and you.

I went to go see him in jail after my vacation. He was so afraid that he was going to lose me. The last thing he asked me that visit was "If I go to prison will you wait for me to get out?" I didn't even hesitate to say yes. Then I walked out of this visiting room without even saying good-bye. I left him to ponder on that. The next day he wrote me a letter. In the letter he said "If you are serious about staying with me through this whole thing then I swear to everything pure and sacred that I will marry you. We are now getting married on May 10th!!!!

well mine was not as romantic as all of yall's but Cody and me were best friends for about 3 years but we had never actually been "together" but he knew I was in love with him and I knew he loved me but he wouldn't show it he was locked up for almost a year and one day we were on the phone and it said you have one minute left and he says "Do you wanna marry me?" I said call me right back when the phone cuts off Well when he called back I told him he was crazy because we had never dated and he had always told me he never wanted to get married but I eventually told him yes and now were just waitin for the warden to aprove our request to be married. So I'm still in shock about this whole thing but I'm happy!!!

He asked me through the little window (the ones when you go to visitation) and his sister put the ring on me it was so sweet! I love him!

..great stories .. i still have hope that one day my man will ask me .. been writing for awhile now, but i dont think im the only one he writes to, maybe one day he will realize im the one who wait for him ..

I've only known my man for about 8 months. I haven't visited him yet, because I'm in Missouri & he's in Virginia. But, I'm going to visit him in July.
He's asked me to marry him in his letters. Now he says think about it & I'll ask you when I look in your eyes. He gets out in 2008.

That is so sweet. Aaron and I have been together a little over 10 months and we have been engaged for 3 weeks. We talked about it alot then I brought it to his attention that he never has offically asked and he says "well, we are gonna get married and if you don't want to then hang up the phone" I just laughed and he said "well you didn't hang up so i guess we are getting married" Thats my Aaron, straight foward and straight to the point. That one of the million reasons I love him.

Patrick and I have been engaged for almost 6 years. I asked him, of course -- he has always said he would never have asked me to go through the heartache and loneliness of being with an inmate...and he didn't want to get hurt if I said no. It was funny because we were both really shy and when he'd call we were like two teenagers, giggling about everything. One day at the end of our call I said..."I think I'm falling in love with you" and there was this totally shocked silence then of course Mr. "You have 15 seconds left in this call" comes in and Paddy doesn't get to respond except for a "wow...seriously...?" When he wrote to me he was all excited, really goofy and totally lovey-dovey and our next call (2 weeks and 4 letters later!!) I said "well, since I love you and you love me...why don't we get married?" Totally floored the guy. He kept babbling on asking me if I was certain it was what I wanted and asking if I REALLY thought I could handle it. After A LOT of reassurance that I wasn't going to say "Just Kidding" he was like "YES!!" He scrimped and saved for a year then bought me a Claddagh wedding band -- I still don't know how he managed to afford it. A lot of stuff has happened since then, but now we are trying to plan our wedding -- hoping for Spring of '07!!!

It was short and simple....november 13th 2005....in the visiting room, he got nervous a little before 12:30pm......he expressed how he felt....he pushed the chair aside....got down on one knee.....asked me if I would marry him....as he put my ring on....and I said yes!!! Our wedding date is set for june 24th 2006!!!

Black, my bae, had asked me before on many occasions. One time, i actually attempted to go through with it, and left him hanging. I didnt want to feel as if he was marrying me because he had so much time. But, i left him for some years because of my lack of confidence about his intentions. However, he never stopped writing me, or professing his love for me. I never stopped loving him, and decided to go see him for his birthday after years. He just stared at me the whole time, and said "you should know that i love you, i have lived in darkness without you, i cant breathe, you are my light." I have did all of this time alone, but you are the only one who heals me, please baby, marry me. I said, "Yes". He said, "you arent going to stand me up this time, are you?". I assured him i wouldnt. We are going to do it this time, for real. I cant see myself married to anyone but him; we will grow old together. Now, i am more confident in his intentions, and love for me. Although, he is close to coming home, and still wants to get married, i know this marriage is only a seal for the love that we have for one another.

He have been writing letter talking about getting married and when we talk on the phone and one day he sends a picture of himself and on the back of the picture it says your very dear to me and I love you and would love to make you my wife. Will you marry me and become the lady of my life. love you G. I thought how sweet, he already have 15 1/2 year old daughter together and we have been talking about getting married when we were teenager but he got locked up at 19yrs old and we have been together since we were 12yrs old. So when her comes home we will do it.

As for us... it happened after 13 years of love & friendship. It was on December 4th 2005... It was the first visit when he met my son in person, (they had already been writing to eachother). He said he wanted to talk to my son alone, so they had their lil "Man to Man" talk, I watched them across the room..they would talk, then look at me, talk and again smile and look my way. Well into our visit, my son had gone to play with the other children visiting, Chris had his arm around me, I felt him begin to sweat...I could actually feel the sweat from his palms through my clothes! he then said to me, "Honey, I've thought of the perfect words...and I can't find any that are good enough...but I just can't wait another day to ask you to be my wife." I was speechless. I did expect it...but not that day! All I could do, was turn to him and give him a big, long kiss...he then said "I take that as a yes?" still smiling, I said "Yes." When my (our) son came back to the table, Chris said to him "I asked her" our son smiled at us, and handed Chris a lil ring he was wearing..it was a ring I had bought our boy with hearts and stars. Chris slipped it on my finger.... When we were driving out of the prison I asked our boy, "What was Chris telling you?" he said "That he wants to marry you. He asked me if it was okay, and I said yes. He said he was going to take care of me, Massimo (our youngest) and you. That he loves us, and will take care of us forever." Everytime I remember this, I get all teary eyed...just like I am now. We are currently waiting to hear on a date for our marriage....:)

Well my baby asked me a couple of times but I never took him serious plus I was in a relationship at the time but he didn't care he loved me but I was with someone else and I didnt no what to do well finally I broke up with my ex cause I finally realized after 3 year I was in love with my baby so he asked me again and I said yes and that I was ready cause I loved him like crazy and I just dont see myself with anyone else his my world and I can't wait till we get Married

I just thought I would take a minute to update everyone ...I posted here awhile back like oh after mothers day last year about my fiance asking me to marry him ...yadda yadda ...well I am happy to report as of May 26th , 2006 ...I became his wife ...It was an AWESOME ceremony and I have no regrets once so ever . Follow your heart ....it matters not that it may be inside a prison ...youll escape in your mans eyes . Take care everyone !

Well me and my fiancee just got engaged!! he asked me in march of this year. We plan on gettin married when he gets out next year!! We are both really excited about this!! We haven't told our family members yet about this. It's a surprise for when he is released. But I am very happy and I just hope that everything that God has planned for us works out!!

Well an "official" proposal has yet to happen. It's been me to bring up the issue of getting married, he says if I stay with him at least a year, he'll marry me in a heartbeat. Whatcha' wanna bet it won't take no year? He's already refering to me as his future wife, so ha! and I know he wants to do it where he can get on one knee and properly ask but it wouldn't matter how he asked, the answer would be the same, YES, YES, YES! I can't wait to be Mrs. Stigall.

Well see i told ya'll it wouldn't take a year. He proposed on Sunday June 25th, 2006. 1 month and 6 days after our first visit. TEE HEE HEE! I'm so freakin happy. We were sitting there at visit and he says well now that you have an egagement ring on your hand I guess I need to ask you to marry me, and went on to add "in my own time, in my own way, with minimal input from you" so I thought he was just toying with me, so I didn't answer, he says well, will you marry me? Of Course, I said YES!

we had known each other for over 26 years and we both had feelings for each other but never realized it till 10 years later. he was married to my ex bestfriend and she is actually responsible for getting us together because she is the one that saw the ad in the swapper that he put. sunday july 16th 2006 was our first visit and first time seeing each other in 10 years. i had no idea what he had planned. he had asked me in letters and of course i said yes and i told him all i ask is that he ask me again when he saw me face to face. well we knew we were going for a visit and he kept telling me to figure the ring thing out which i had no clue. then we had our pictures made with his mom and brother and then the next thing i know we are getting ready of one of me and him and he takes my hand and takes the ring i have on off and goes down on one knee and he asked me if i would marry him and i said yes. so that the picture i have is of him proposing to me that will be my fav picture forever.

Today (7-21-06) I officially got engaged. :D It happened in the visiting room at Cotton Correctional Facility. I had only been there about 5 minutes, we were sitting next to each other and he starting singing to me (like he always does). But this song was different. The lyrics were saying that I make him complete, I'm the love of his life, he wants me to take his name and be his wife. (I was sitting like- did he just say be his wife?) :blush: Next he took my diamond ring off of my right hand, got down on one knee, looked me in the eyes and said "Baby, I love you so much. Will you marry me?" I was so shocked. All I could say was "YES, YES, YES!" :yes: Everyone was smiling and congratulating us. :D When he got up he took both of my hands and said "July 21: This is the beginning of our engagement, the beginning of our new life, the beginning of US". I was like -Aww. The next thing he said was "As soon as I come home you'll be getting the real ring. This one is temporary." I am so excited. :thumbsup: Everyone wish me luck! Mrs. Seduction

i was on my way to school and he called me on my cell phone telling me how much he loves me and what do i think about him calling me wifey ( he calls me that on letters).i told him it was cute and that i should call him hubby. he told me he is serious of not ever letting me go and so i said what do u think of a girl proposing to a guy. hes like thats no problem but he rather think its the guy to do it. then he is like why do u want to get engaged. i told him i love him so much that i wanted to propose to you. next he replied " no baby not like this but do u want me to be my wife" i said yes, still not wondering what he meant not like this. thats is when he said when you come here bring my mom and i want to do this the perfect way in front of her. But we are not going to get married in prison. as soon as we are together (2 years) we are going to get married and i want to take you to my country (laos) to meet my whole family. we are even going to adopt my neice and nephew to live with us. i want us to start a family as soon as possible.. ( IGUESS THE BED WILL BE OUR BEST FRIEND). :D

Well he wrote me a letter in March 2006 a month before his birthday and was like you know baby we have been doing this for 12 years. We met in gym class in 94 and we have been together ever since andwhen he got locked up it was hard because he tried to push me away and a few times i just had to let him know how he was going to feel if i did go out the picture so i stopped writing for a month and you should have seen the hate mail i got for that. anyway. I just let him know i was always going to be here. Back to the present he wrote me this letter and was like you know 12 years is a long time and I know you love me and you know i love you so I was thinking of getting a wedding band because in here it means something and it would mean a lot to me. So i took the letter and i thought about it and i prayed about it for 3 weeks then i went to the jewlery store and bought a gold band and had it engraved with the words "TRUE LOVE" I got him a few birthday cards and i put everything in a box and sent it off. he got it on his Birthday and two days later i got a letter from him asking me to be his wife. That was one of the happiest days of my life. I have the letter in a picture frame. Since he is in Maximum Security we don't get to touch so it is hard when all i want to do is put my arms around him. Oh well we will have our day. We had one miricle when he was taken off of death row so i know god has many more for us. We are waiting to see if he gets moved and if not we will marry where he is May 2007.

Jeffery wrote me one day and said i'm trying to get da courage 2 say four words. These four words use to scare me but now I couldn't be more ready.. So then when I went to see him at visitation one day his mom had walked off from the table an he looked at me an just said "Will you marry me" I wuz so shocked cuz I didin't expect it then... I was so happy...

I asked him over a letter first. He had been in prison only about 1 month. About 3 months later he still couldn't get any visits. He planned the whole thing with him mom and sister for about 3-4 weeks. I live with my fiance's sister. His sister had a mail package in her hand and told me he had send it to me.

I was confused...he sent me what? i knew he couldn't send me anything like that. I kept asking her, what is it? She'd just say, you'll see. Now that i remember she had her camera in hand, she took a few pictures throughout. I opened the package, there was a gift inside...i unwrapped it, there was a big jewelry box...i figured it could be a bracelet or necklace. I opened that box and found a smaller one. That's when i knew what it was.

A beautiful engagement ring. His late grandmother's engagement ring. Makes me feel really special. In the package there was also an envelope with two letters. One from his mother. One from him. He wrote me a very sweet letter and proposed "will you accept this ring".

We are not married yet. I have visited him only 4 times and he still hasn't been transfered from reception.

Well he had asked me like 5 years ago. Alot had happened he was tranferred from VA. to Fl. I found out that he had been lying to me about his actual time. I wasn't at his sentencing my mother in NC was ill and I had to go home to take care of her and my little sister. Put we never broke up I just told him that I didn't think that I could marry him and have to wait that long for him to come home, 65 years. So he gave me permission to go out and be with others, but we still remained close, no matter who I was with I told them about him and that if he came home today or tomorrow I was going to still be with him, we have a daughter together and I've had two more daughters on him. He became my best friend when I was going through what ever with who ever he was there via phone, letter, visit. He wrote me like 2 weeks ago and asked me, he is currently in the hole and they took his visits, phone and commissary for a year. I think that after all of this if he still loves me enough to still want me to be his wife I'll be a fool not to. He said he allowed me to be with others to prove that I could not replace him no matter what and you know what he was right. I feel as if I searched the world, I was with both men and women and still none of them could make and keep me as happy as he do even though I know that there is a possible chance that he might not make it home. For LOVE that is truely a chance that I am willing to take.

I have known my man almost 20 years and we have a son together but were apart for 3 years we recently started dating again and had been talking serious but not that serious. Anyway he got arrested I was on the phone with him at the time, but when he tried to call later there was a block, I thought I had fixed the block but I hadn't he was so freaked he couldn't get a hold of me he had his mom call and propose to me! Then when I finally fixed the block he asked again and then again in person when I went to visit him in county. Now he is in san quentin and although the other charge has been dropped he's in on parole violation. So he could be out any time I think. He wants to get married in feburary!

I actually asked him on Sept 4th 2006...he thought i was kidding...we talked about it some more and decided to do it. our wedding date was planned for 1-24-07. He was taken into custody 9-13-06. We are now in the process of being approved for a prison wedding....Hopefully all will work out for the best.

he asked me saturday november 4, 2006. it was at a visit and his step mom and his dad were there. in the past he would play with my ring finger, which he later would admitt he was trying to figure out my ring size.

well sitting there and it was almost time for early release when his dad would be leaving, and he grabbed my left hand a couple times, moved his chair out, got down on one knee in the visiting room, and said "amanda, i was supposed to do this a couple hours ago, but i love you, will you marry me?" the whole time i was looking the other way saying "oh my gosh oh my gosh." then i of course said yes!!

my nate asked me about a month after he got locked up and he sent me a four page letter with one word on the back of each page like a puzzle that when i put it together it asked Will You Marry Me it was so creative and adorable of course i said yes :heart:

Well frist off me and Chris has been together since "94" yes almost 13 yrs he asked me the frist time in 2000 we recived are diploma see his last name starts with c and my h so he got his first and when i was walking down the stairs he stop me in front of are class and asked me to be his wife. So in one of his letters he asked me if i remeber graduation and i told him yea so he drew up the whole thing again and asked me to be his wife and this time ASAP no more waiting. :)

I have known my now husband for 20 years, we have always had a very good friendship, and in our own way have always felt something for each other, but i was with someone and he was doing his thing, and he had left to cali and i didnt see him for a few years, then i heard he was in prison, and at the job i was in i was able to look him up,anyway i found him, and I started writeing to him and it was nice to hear from him again,and he told me in his letter that he knew if anyone found him it would be me, so we wrote to each others for 2 years, I went to see him a couple times, and it was great we went right back in to the relationship we had, but this time we went to the next step and the next time i went to see him we had our first kiss,and it was the best,we were now bf and gf, and i got a letter from him saying that he has loved me for 15 years but had never said anything to me cuz i was with someone and he was to, and it was a few letters later he wrote to me and said you are my soulmate and my one true love, would you be my wife, I was happy and I told him, I said i dont know ask me when i get there, so i went to see him again, and he looked me right in my eyes, and said I have loved for so long and I believe we are soul mates, will you be my wife, and i teared up and told him yes, we were married in the prison on june 24th 2006, and I couldnt be happier, we have the best relationship ever!!!!!

Frank and I have been together 10 years as of 2/24/07. We've always known we'd probably get married. Discussed it more intently over the past couple of years. He asked me twice last year. I said yes both times. We were looking for the perfect rings and planning everything before all of this happened. We talked about rushing a wedding before he went in but opted not to. The decision now is if to get married while he's locked up or not. I told him that I would not, but would plan everything for when he got out. However, I desperately feel that I need something from him. I need some form of attachment, some gaurantee. I've never been in this position before and never felt this way before. I cant explain it. Its just that weve been together for SO long and now i feel like I have nothing from it. We were trying to have a baby and that didnt work out either before he left. So I like, have no rights. Im not legal. 10 years and i've got no children, no husband, and I dont think I can wait another 4 years.

He was nervous lol, he couldnt' stop shaking and for the first time ever his hands were sweating. (normally cold from the walk to the visit floor)
He kept peeping the Co's and kept turning back to see what the F* he was looking at! I knew he was up to something but I had no clue what.

Next thing I know he was on bended knee ( the correct one at that) looked up at me, grap my hand and said "like this baby, this is how you do it??" and I said at this point with tears in my eyes, "yes, honey you got it" and that when when he asked me to marry him, speach and all. I was the best kiss and bear hug i've ever had my whole life! No were not married yet, in fact Im looking for a name & number to someone in Albany becuase his facility has been giving us the run around. If any one has info, please reply.

We had been discussing it for some time, but I wasn't sure I wanted to be married "inside".

His mom and I had gone to visit and we were all out on the patio. He was sitting on the bench and asked me to come stand next to him. He said " the CO's won't let me get down on one knee, so I'm improvising. I love you Jennifer, will you marry me"? I didn't know it at the time, but prior to this he had wrote my father asking for his blessing...(he's so good) Good thing too, my dad's old fashioned and he respects my fiance alot more now.

I don't quite recall exactly what we were talking about, but my response was "I don't think you've ever properly proposed." In turn, he responded, "You don't want a traditional wedding, so you don't get a traditional proposal." I had to agree with him on that note because I had been pleading my case for a while that we would get married at the courthouse when he came home. We continued on with our visit and sometime later while sitting in the grass in the VP we were talking and when I looked over at him he was one knee (in the middle of the park) asking me to marry him!

Although it's not overly romantic, he melts my hearts because he got down on one knee. That's my man.....

He and i had been talking about getting married and knew we would do it while he was in since we have no out date. But he always said he wanted it to be special. Well we did the paperwork, with no idea how long it would take and when i went out in january. It was friday and he asked me are you really going to marry me and i said that depends are ya ever gonna ask me... well we get into our second day of visiting and he looks at me and says, well this isnt the way i wanted to do this but "Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife?" Of course i said yes and we are supposed to be married on April 14th....so all things happen the way god intends them to....He told me ten years ago that he would marry me someday and at that time it was the running joke.... little did i know.....

My husband asked me sometime in 2001 he was locked up in county and we were talkin over the phone thru the glass and all of the sudden I noticed he was goin on n on about all these sweet things about me n feelins and on n on and in my head i was trippin, thinkin what the hell is he doin? then after about 5 more minutes of all these things he was sayin i noticed he was turnin pink and then red................I just stopped sayin awwhh thats sweet and i got quiet and just sat there honestly i still really didnt notice what he was gonna do, sometimez he would get all sensitive like that, then he just said it " will you marry me?" It was very funny cuz I just told him so thats where all that was goin huh? we laughed and I told him yessss someday, and about 5 years latr( hell no he wasnt patient about it either) I finally said ok lets do it, I was trippin on the whole doin it inside of prison thing! So june 24th 2006 we did it ohhh I was sooo nervous too! happy but nervous so was he when the lady told us to put the rings on each others fingers niether one of us could figure out our right hand from ou left it was funny she was laughing too!

:D Well Tommy was calling me his fiance for a while before he actually proposed. I was visiting him one day and when the visit was almost over he took my hand and looked me in the eyes and said " I love you with all of my heart and soul, will you marry me", of course I said yes. My Boyfriend proposed the same was he asked me out on our first day he just started talking about us get married and our life together when he gets home after a few weeks of him taking on and off about us being married he said well when do you want to do it? I said do what? he said get married? I said you really want to marry me? (HIM) yes thats what we have been talking about all week! I said ok lets get married! So we will be married in June 2 months away.

Well, I must say that I had no clue that 05/11/2007's visit was going to be the day, as most couples Eugene and I have our little "topics of conversation" yes even that day, I let his speak, then I spoke, after all that was over he told me about the GREAT NEWS regarding his appeal... then every thing went back to normal... ya know the love we share for each other was very apprent... and then we were talking he took my hand and said that he had something very important to say to me, he stated that they "the CO's" would not allow him to get down on his knee and ask me the proper way but nevertheless I want to ask you if you will be my wife.." and I said YES!!!

This time he asked me on sweetest day 2006 he sent a letter and told me not to open it until he called so he called and I opened the letter and he read the letter to me then asked me to marry him. ( for the fourth time)

Ross and I have been an on-again-off-again couple since we were freshman in high school. It was during out "off-again" time that he got in trouble and ended up in prison.

I swore for the longest time that I wouldn't get back together with him until he was home and "rehabilitated"... ha! so much for that. He's always been able to sweep me off my feet...

We were "just friends" for almost a year before the idea came up, and oddly enough, I was the one who proposed. It was December 30... I was at his Mom's house and we were talking on the phone... he was telling me how much he loved me and was thankful that I had come back into his life... and then I said, "Why don't we get married?"

I got a VERY surprised, "WHAT?" followed by a resounding "YES!!"

We've been engaged ever since. :)

Ahhhhh! Lets see....

My baby & I have known each other 4 about 10yrs now. He was my 1rst boyfriend in High School. He cheated on me & I tried to break his neck it he 9th grade. We ended up back 2gether 2yrs ago. Then out of no where when we had stop speaking for like 2 weeks he wrote me this 6 page letter front and back expressing his love which sometimes can be very hard for him...then he said for the last time will you marry me. I sat back and thought can I live my life w/o this man......HELL NO HE IS MY EVERYTHING!!! So I told him yes. We fill out the paperwork for our certificate on 7/18/07. It's funny, I've been on PTO for a minute and I just noticed this thread! Wow! Anyway, Columbo and I have been talking about what it would be like when we finally get married and start a family and yada yada for a little while. I figured he'd propose one day once he came home, but on July 1st, 2007 he officially did and he blew my mind with it. I noticed when he came out on the visit he was especially happy, but I thought it was cause he was finally out of the hole! :D We were sitting talking like usual and he pulled me closer to him, which is crazy cause I was already sitting as close as I thought I could. He cradled my arms in his and looked me dead in the eye and was like "I have to talk to you about something....I've given this a lot of thought and I've made up my mind." My head was racing trying to figure out where he was going with it. He told me he was nervous but determined. For a split second I was thinking "is he gonna...nah" He brought up how we've progressed in our relationship and how much he loves me and needs me in his life....all this stuff. I was listening, but I was really trying to figure out where he was going with it. He rambled on so long I told him "babe, you're making me nervous". I don't think that man blinked even once! And then he said "Will you make me the happiest man ever and marry me?" I was stunned and stuck on stupid for a good minute. I asked him if he was serious and he said yes. And before I could say anything else the tears flooded my eyes and I tried to cover my face, but he held my hands down and told me it was ok. I could see the scared look on his face, but I couldn't get any words out. I asked him "are you serious? For real?" again and when he said yes I told him "YES!" And I boohoo'd like a baby. He held me so tight and I got mascara all over the left side of his WHITE polo shirt!!!! LOL! He shed a couple of tears too and said he had been so nervous from earlier in the week when he'd officially decided to ask me to marry him. He wasn't sure I'd say yes but he says he had to follow his heart and ask me and now he's glad he did. He hates the fact that he doesn't have a ring, but I told him I can wait til he comes home. I did tell my mother, who has told about 5 people, my momma can't hold water, man!!! :D He hasn't told his mom, yet, but he'll do that when she goes for her first visit (there's a whole back story about that). I'm a little concerned about that cause she and I are just starting to really get on the good foot with each other and I know this is gonna set her WAaaaaaaaaaay back! But whatever!

I'll be honest, I haven't told everyone yet cause it's hard not having the man or the ring for show, but it's all to the good.

The day everything he got arrested he called me and asked me if i would marry him in jail and i said i would marry him anywhere. Just alittle freaked that the first year of your marriage he will be there and i will he out here. i miss him so much.

I thought that I should post our story since all the others brought tears to my eyes. I met my man about 5 years ago and we dated for awhile, but it didnt work. We were on two different levels in life. After we split up a couple years later he caught his case and where I live it is a tight knit community, so it was devestating. I cried for days after I seen it on the television. Then 2 years after that I had a dream that he was in trouble, so I took the chance and wrote him to see if he was ok. Turns out he was fine and it went from there. We now are going to get married. I think we were brought back together by a higher power. I have never been so happy, except when he comes home then it may be a different story. Thank you for all of the uplifting posts.

One day we were talking and he asked me to make him a promise. I said what is it? He told me to promise him that I would be his wife one day. I told him that there was nothing else that I would rather be. He never thought that I would consider marrying him while he was on the inside and so he never brough that up. When we would talk, he would talk about how I envisioned our wedding day and stuff like that. I told him that I wasn't the type to get "caught up" on all of the details of the wedding as the actual relationship was what meant more to me.

He was real quiet for a minute and then he said....................

"So................would you be cool if your groom wore state issues......you were married below a beautiful watch tower.......and your honeymoon would take place by means of a family visit inside of a raunchy trailer?

HELL YEAH! That's the business.

Anyway- he did tell me that when he comes home that he wants to marry me again on the streets, and the "right way." I told him that I didn't need to do that and he said,

"I don't care if you don't.......but I do."

So, he goes to his annual this October and once he finds out what his future holds as far as location, (talk of facility transfer) then he will request our marriage packet.

I see Im kidna late here on this but hey better now then never. Here is my story... Mine proposed to me at visit last sunday!!! As usual I walked through the door like always and he was smiling beaming from ear to ear and he was talking and laughing w/the guards. That isnt something he does alot.
Well anyway we go sit at the table and get our visit started. Well he starts acting kinda strange. Like he just starts acting weird...Well anyway towards the end of the visit the guard tells us we have 30 minutes. They never tell you that you have 30 minutes. You only get 5 minutes or visit over.
Well he gets down on one knee takes my hand and looks me in my eye...
I told him to get up((I was still sitting at the table)) haha. and I was like get up off the floor. Well anyway he finally does get up. So the visit is about to be over and he gets in front of the room and gets down on one knee takes my hand and asks me to marry him!!! I was like "Awww...." of course I said "YES"!!!!

I got home from work today and I got a letter from my baby, the usual, so I thought. On the last page of the letter he wrote; "Will you marry me"?I don't want us to wait until I come home baby!I want to marry you now, no right now!" That last part made me laugh. I'm sure he'll call me this weekend and I'm going to say YES, but I'm also going to tell him that we'll have to wait til he gets out in 09'. I know he won't be too happy about that but I feel if he really loves me, he'll be patient. Any thoughts?

ok so he had asked me if i ever would marry him while we were in my room and i said i would and then once i lived with my mom because i got kicked outta my dads cuz he found out he was coming over lol me and sean were in the shower together and he bent down on 1 knee grabbed my hand and said baby will you marry me? i smiled and cried alil and said yes and he stood up and hugged and kissed then all this crap happend on my birthday and ive only seen him thru glass ever since but 2 weeks i'll be able to get touch visits!!!!

I guess my story will sound wierd to some people. We had known each other for seven months and been serious for 4 of those before he was arrested. I knew it was love by the time he asked if I wanted to start dating. We had talked about marriage from that time on. The opportunity to buy a ring for him cam up, so I did. He knew I had it. But then he was arrested and in jail. He said to me, "Look into getting married", so I did. I offically asked him over the phone a couple of days later and he said we had already been over this. I didn't feel "offically" engaged until I asked him and he said yes. We found out that we couldn't do it while he was in jail and would have to wait until he was in prison. So now he is in prison (been apart for 4 1/2 months) and we have gotten the ball rolling. By the way, I bought all the rings myself since he was unemployed before his arrest.

I'm so new to this but my baby, James, who is an inmate @ Osborn CI in Somers, CT proposed to me through a letter he written just 2 wks B4 my birthday. He simply said... "Jane i love you and you mean the world 2me, can I have your heart in marriage?" Now after that, who can say no, I sure didn't I quickly replied yes and the date is set for July 19, 2009 :p

Now its becuz hes locked up and in every letter he says to me will u marry me yes or no and i say no only for the simple fact that i want him to do it the right way n not in prison so if i sound mean or not in love its not true i am deeply in love with him n will always love him but i want it done the right way. I had a huge crush on my fiance back in 6th grade. I remember the first day I saw him and it lasted all through High School, until he walked out of the school in our senior year 1990-91. He dropped out to pursue a life of gangs and another life style that he chose. I pursued him all those years and I knew that that was going to be the last time I saw him again. Not one year went by that I didn't think about stopping by his house to see if he was okay or to see if he had been married and was doing well, but something just wouldn't let me go. Well, after going through a lot over the past 17 years of my life and with the powers that be on the internet I finally made a better pursuit of locating him. I found his brother on myspace, and found out that he was in prison and had been for 17yrs. I was elated and saddened all at the same time. I wrote him and began communicating with my friend since February of this year.

After losing everything, I mean everything, his wife in 1994, his mom a few months after his wife, his gang because he was getting out of that life in prison, he found the greatest gift of all and that was his creator. He has been a minister for 14 years now and has become alive finally. He can now appreciate the woman that I am now and that I have turned into after all these years. I am no longer that scared little girl that lost her virginity to him trying to find out if that was the way I could win him over.
Little did I know, I was his first as well.

I sent him a homemade birthday card with a picture of his mother when she was 18 years old with a poem that was inspired by her through me to write to him this past August (07). After weeping for so long with this precious gift that he felt no price tag could compare to, he said that he knew that he had found the woman that God had ordained for him. The one he should call his wife. He then asked me at visit if I would be the one to be his rib, the one to be his side by side partner as God had intended for him to have. As crazy in love as I was with him back then, I became so much more now. We will be getting married on December 3rd. Praise be to God.

Life truly is a circle!

We had recently found out I was pregnant and we were sitting in my car at Sonic. He said "well, I guess I have to marry you now." And I was like "Are you proposing?" He said "Yes, I guess I am!" So I said "Then, yes, I will marry you!" We're waiting for a while after he gets out so we can be completely ready to make this commitment together. We've both been married before and want to make this one last.

It was the first time we talked after he got locked up. It was about 4 days and he was in county on the phone. He was crying and he said that he loved me. Then he asks, "Will you marry me?" I was crying too and I said, "Yes". Sounding surprised, he says, "For real?" :D That was August 25th. We are now pending approval to get married while he's in.

On November 25 , 2007 I took his mom to visit him like he asked me to.The whole visit I was quiet letting them spend time together cuz we're always talking on the phone and writing and I visit him once a week. Out of the blue he looked at me and smiled so I smiled back then he asks me and I quote him , " Would you marry me?" I started laughing cuz I thought it was a joke, so we all laughed.Then he asked me again and I said "yea why not" and kept laughing. Take in mind I'm still thinking he's joking.Exactly 6 days later he asked me again in a letter."Will you marry me? I would really love for you to become my wife." LOL Now I know he wasn't joking.....sooooo I guess we're engaged :] We decided to wait until 06-10-09 to marry, but I have a hunch it'll happen before that date....:]

well its funny. he wrote a letter to me professing his love for me and said.
"And yes, you are my fiance but i dont know how to ask? So your just my fiance" hahaha.
oh and he got a ring somehow but they took it away because he didnt have a permit for it but he told his mom that next time i come he was going to get down on one knee and read me this poem and ask me officially.. but shhh... im not suppose to know that!

He brought me a bridal set for xmas and told me it was a regular ring. (this was 2 years before he got locked up) I did cry a little about the regular ring part so i got them sautered together, One day the diamond fell out and he took it to zales got a bigger diamond and said now this is your engagement ring. not romantic at all, he siad he'll do a better job when he comes home.I forgot when i visited him he had a pop out card with mickey and minnie mouse on it that says that he will me at the alter in my red a right dress now that was very romantic and so sweet

My fiancee has never been the romantic type so it shocked me when he did it(it happened before he went to prison). We went out of town for the weekend to New York. We were in Manhatten shopping and close to the end of the day he said he wanted to one more store. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to shop, but I am from Virginia and I have never cared for the big city chaos and for anyone that has been there knows what I am talking about. I was tired and ready to go back to the hotel cause we were out ALL day. Well anyway, we ended up in a jewelry store, he said he wanted to look at a chain. I was so upset cause he knew I wanted some diamond hoop earrings and he was looking at a chain so I was looking other places while he was so called looking at this chain. He called me over to ask my opinion and when I got to where he and the jeweler were standing there were 6 rings in a circle with a note that said "Will you marry me?" in the middle inside the case. I was screaming so loud and jumping around that some people left the store but I didn't care. Of course I said yes. No, I didn't get to keep all six rings:) , but I picked out the one I wanted. I hope that wasn't too long but now you see why I am his forever.:p

Just Noticed My Typo It Said Meet Me At The Alter In Your Red And White Dress

My guy gave me a rose and asked me to be his wife. Of course I said yes. Then he asked me again in a letter when he was at the reception intake center. I said yes then too. He is supposed to put in a request to get married soon.

My Baby proposed the cutest way ever!!! He told me he was sending me a puzzle so I didnt think anything of it! When I got the mail it was 4 seperate letters foled up in the first one it said "here's your puzzle...... open them in order......" The 2nd said "Colors facing up" SO I open it and theres colored letters cut out. So I put them together and it spells " I Love U" I had no idea what it was about b/c he's always been romantic so I didnt know what it was going to be about Then the 3rd letter. So long story short it spelled out " I love U Will U Marry Me" and then the 4th letter was just the sweetest, kindest letter I of course had to say YES!!! :) We plan on marrying within the next year as soon as he gets sentenced and I can't wait to be his wife!!

These stories are making me teary eyed they are so lovely I'm changing my mind about me son getting married. I could'nt understand why but now after reading these letters. I do. He has life inside and he needs love too.

I finally figured out a way! When I got it I had to take a pic! I of course saved the letters too but I just loved it soo much!!

I have been asked 6 times I have told him yes but when he comes home because I read something the wrong way and thought we would lose to much if I was to marry him now... but I do believe the blonde gene came out there and after him reading the same thing I did and him getting someone else to also read it he said no.. we are not going to lose anything at all.. So Sunday standing with his arms folded across his chest looking down on me he said "So when are you going to marry me?!" I told him "Go and talk to the chaplain this week and I will marry you as soon as we can get the paper work done and the ok back." He called me two times today and didn't say one word about it... the man does not know what he is doing to me with not saying a word about it at all!

I know that we both have felt like husband and wife for a long time and the only thing that bothers him is that I can not use his name legally yet and he hates to see my last name on the visiting sheet each time I come to see him... and tells me every week "that name has got to go!!"

But I expect it to happen this year at least but then with Florida you can never tell. But right now I'm shaking in my boots over the letter that I know I have to write to get the ball rolling and all the other things that have to be done. I love this man more then life it's self and to think that I might screw something up is making me a basket case! and my friends are going to be jumping down my throat when they find out about me going though with marrying him before he gets out. and I am talking about the ones that have someone inside too..

As far as romantic, it was for me. But it was the night he got locked up. I was saying my goodbyes to him because I really didnot know what would happen between us, we were only dating for 5 months. Before I walked away he told me you will be my wife real soon!!! I laughed it off but inside I was crying one because I knew he will be going away, and second WOW!! he was serious about it. Well the day is set May 16,2008....

Well, my story started about 23 years ago. He was a bad boy and I was a little square. He took care of me even at such a young age. He loved me so much and I was like "yea yea so many men so little time" you know a regular ole hot mamma. He was my first. He chased me for a few more years and made a life changing mistake. Got sentenced to 17 mandatory

Twenty years later - Three months ago, my sister calls me and says "guess what, I have a blast from the past on the phone" And there he was "my future" He's has been down for 20 years and will be released this Oct. After more the 30 hours of phone conversations, He just told me "Girl, you are my wife" :thumbsup: and was supposed to be years ago. All I could say was ok. I know not very romantic... but I love him so much and still get sad to think of how I treated him back then and how different his life might have been had I only known. I have never even been to a prison and have lived a pretty normal life until now. 3 kids, dog, cat, failed marriage. He was my first and will be my last.:blush:

We were engaged before he went in. He had been down for 5 1/2 years trying to get family visits and being told "NO" He called me after he went to classification and said "I got approved for family visits" That was all he needed to say. We got married 2 months later.

I'm so thankful I've found this site. I have so many questions, and from reading the recent posts to this thread I know you guys are just the loving ones to tell me all I need to do. I'll try to make a long story short. I'm 61, and my Roy just turned 60; he's completed 23+ years of a life sentence but he comes up for parole again in 4/09. We've been writing each other for awhile now, and this past winter I drove from Missouri to Texas to visit with him for the first time. I won't say it was love at first site; but we've become best friends through out letters and both profess love for one another....but we all know that it's when we're both in the free world that we'll know if we will fall in love with each other. But, I am more than willing to marry him now and prepare a parole plan together, but there are obstacles I just don't know about.

In Texas we can have a proxy marriage; but in Missouri proxy marriages and/or common-law marraiges are not legal or acceptable; most specially to the parold board. For him to parole here to Missouri he must have immediate family here; and I'm not sure that Mo Board of Pardons & Paroles would recognize a proxy marriage. I am willing to go to Texas and have the proxy marriage performed, but what good will it do if the Mo Parole people won't accept it?

Is it possible for the Warden at the Allred Unit to allow us to get married by the Chaplain? Even over those dumb telephones; through the thick glass, would be better than the proxy thing. Is that possible? At least then we would be immediate family in Texas and Missouri.

We are both VERY Christian, and would, of course, rather the Chaplain marry us, to bless our marraige in the eyes of our Lord.

Please let me hear advice from any and all. Specially those in Texas and/or Missouri who have had to deal with these same things before. Reading all of your stories have renewed my faith that what we are planning is the absolute right thing to do and I thank you all for your testimonies.

For me, right after Jason went in, the very first time he called me... he said "I want to be your husband, and I want you to be my wife" I told him I would marry him but, I couldnt formally except his proposal until he formally proposed. So We're doing this all backwards... but, our wedding date is November 7, 2009. He'll be out in 31 days (our rings are already bought and sized) so maybe I'll be able to formally except his proposal in the next couple of months when he decides he's ready to formally propose! He knows what he has to do ;) :)

He called me one night and said, "By the way, I sent in the request to the Chaplin for a wedding." That was the proposal, I think :confused:. We had talked about getting married several times before he went in. I thought it was funny actually the way he would keep saying, "You still want to marry me? I will be a convict you know?" Like I could forget that!! :p He is so silly sometimes! I went a bought him a wedding band. My children (two teens) had already purchased a wedding set for us @ Christmas from the money they recieved from family at Christmas as thier own gift. I guess they approve :D!

awww ours was totally cute we were livin in texas and we had just went to walmart and spent 300 dollars on food, clothes for him and things for my son we had 100 bucks left and were watin for a taxi cab we werent susppose to spend anymore money but as we waited for the taxi, my man n my son got into playin those damn claw machines he spent 50 friggin dollars i was upset but his last 50 cents (hes been tryin to get this ring i know its fake) he looks at my son and he says if i get this ring on my last try im gonna marry your mom and plop he gets the ring turns around with a huge silly grin and says "will you marry me" i was pissy but totally happy n i said "YES" and we kissed n i got over the money deal lol...yes i love my dork

I was asked twice. I was orginally asked during visitation and he got more teary eyed then I did (he would die if he knew I said that). They he cofirmed it in a letter I received the next day. If it were up to him we would be married next week, but we want our family to be a part of it (I have a young daughter who has not been to the jail), so we have a date set the month after he is released.

on our first visit he asked how are you? i said fine. then i preceeded to say somethin else and he blurted out so when are we getting married? i was speechless and he said oh is this too soon. i laughed and said whenever you're ready. that's right he said go get 'em tiger. i love my man.

we were talking about getting married for a while and one day i was at work and our doorbell rings its his best friend he starts telling me this crazy story saying something happened to him blah blah blah next thing i know im buggin out and hes like im just playing he wants you to know that he loves you and your his backbone pulls out the lil box and was like shannon would like you to be his wife he feels bad he cant be here to do this in person but asked me to do it for him... i got a phone call that night and hes like you get your suprise and i played it off like what are you talking about lol. so finally hes like i want you to be my wife you have been the only one besides my family here by my side. so when i went for my visit a few days later i made him in the visit ask me himself !

The way my baby proposed was actually when we were 16... He said "Baby, I love you and when we get older, will you marry me?" I said yeah but didn't think much of it. But unfortunatly he made some bad choises in life that took him to prison :cry: But I love my baby :D. Well a year and a half ago he drew me a portrait of us 2 from a visit picture. He drew me with a veil and once I opened up the card it said in BIG letters " SUSIE, MY QUEEN... WILL YOU MARRY ME?" I was actually speechless. Well that following weekend I went to visit my love and he got held my hands and looked deep into my eyes and I felt that I melted to the ground. He said those beautiful words. "Will you marry me?" We are both 26 now and of course we are now married. We got married a year ago. Thank God it didn't take long for us to get an actal date and be married. I love my Hubby, He's my strength, my light, my world, my everything!!! <3<3

My baby asked me to marry him again last July 20th in a letter first because we weren't yet able to talk on the phone and I refused to visit him. We had been together before he was incarcerated 3 years ago. I left him before he was sentenced. He tells me that he has spent everyday praying to God that he would restore our relationship. It took me over 2 years to realize that he was the only one for me. We have a 5 year old son together so we kept in touch. Although his letters were more about our family getting back together, my letters were more about your son is ok....leave me alone....i don't want you back. Well last July after some deep soul searching it hit me that what I had been looking for I already had right in front of me so my tune changed and my heart started to soften. Anyway, on July 28th after three years of asking I finally said yes. I love him so much and hate that I wasted so much time trying to live without him. He is definintely my soul-mate and the love of my life. We are working on paperwork right now to get married and will become one this year. He has 3 more years to do but he is definitely worth the wait.

Mike didnt really ask as much as he told me,lol. I got a letter a couple weeks ago and he told me that we are getting married and that in his visit list he put me down as his fiance because to him I am and ever since that letter I have just told everyone that we are engaged.

Ok y'all have made me cry, so I will share my story.
We have known each other our entire lives, grew up together then seperated. After several years we met up again, spent two years together then split, (my fault there) anyway, I knew he got into trouble, I never have gotten over him one night I had a dream about him so intense that I knew I had to find him. I spent days sweet talking jailers to get the information I needed. Then finally one gave me the location to where he was. I wrote him. We started writing all the time then the phone calls came. We were talking one night and right before the phones went dead he said im going to marry you. then click, that was it. Then he wrote how he didnt have anything to offer him but his heart and soul, That was all I needed. So I knew it was coming. Then April 13 he asked what do you thinkabout getting married in here. Does it matter where? so we kinda left it alone, then on April 15 two days later he called me and said I love you, I want to marry you. When can we do it. My heart is filled, He is and has always been my best friend, my laughter, my heart, and soon he will be my lifetime partner, my husband.

He sent me a package through the post. When I opened it up there was a card telling me he loved me and asking me to marry him and a red rose with an engagement ring around the stem.

He asked me in front of his mother...:blush:it was sweet and cute...now im just waiting on the ring! so far I know its gonna be white gold with a diamond...and the wedding band will have an engravement...:lovestruck:

My fiance asked me twice. The first time he asked was last year. We had only been talking a couple of months, and since he was my boss, we tried to keep everything above board and legit. The more I talked to him, the more I realized that being more than just a secretary for him was a possibility. We never met. Never exchanged pictures. One night, he called my office, and asked me to marry him. I blew it off because I didn't think he was serious. Had I known that this person on the phone who asked me to marry him was going to become the same person I fell in love with, I would have said yes then. But all I said was "Why would you want to marry me? You don't even KNOW me!" This was around May of 2007.
In April of 2008, we met for the first time. I had some issues in my state, forcing me to run to his for a weekend. He appeared at the door of the motel room that I was in, and it was love at first sight. We talked every night, I made regular trips to Arkansas to see him, and we began discussing the "IF" part. <If we got married, If I moved to Arkansas, etc.>.
In June, he learned he was going to a Technical Violator Center for a technical violation of his parole. He was allowed to remain free with limits as to where he can go. In order to spend a night with me, he had to ask his PPO. July 25, he sat on the edge of the chair with a little box in his hand, nervously playing with it. When I asked him what was up, he looked at me and said "It's wierd to ask this, it's wierd to even think I could do this so soon, but can we spend the rest of our lives together? I'll understand if you say no"
I said yes. The ring is on my finger, and when he's released October 20, we're making our plans..

Josh and I were at a visit which i had brought his mom with me to. while we were in the visit room Josh sent me to the Vending Machien to get some food. when I got back to the table his mom was like ill be right back, Josh's eyes were watering up, i asked him what was wrong and he told me nothing was. Then he said I need to ask you a question babe. He told me that he has never believed in having a soul mate until he met me.... That he thanks God every day that i came in to his life. Then he said Will you marry me and love me for the rest of your life and make me the happiest man in the world. I started to cry and said YES of course.
We havent Gotten Married yet becuase he doesnt want us to have to tell our kids that we got married while he was in prison
so we are getting married may 15th 2010

Well we got married on the beach in fl.But the priest didn't send in our info.So when he got caught up we had his dad get ordained and perform the ceremony again.We kissed with glass between us!But it was still way hot.What really matters at the end of the day is that we are with each other.I'm with my soulmate!We have been married through 3 yrs already.Lifetime happiness here we come.We have 7 more yrs. in the system to go....they can't keep him forever!Hope this inspires others too....God bless...A union made one before God is always sacred!!!

My guy had wrote his Mom and tell her that he wanted me to have a diamond ring that fit my wedding finger. So she sent me some money and told me to buy one and take it to visitation the next time with me. So I did. Put it on the table in front of his drink (back then we still could get drinks). When he came in, he grabed his drink and pulled it towards him and the ring went flying off the table. I went and got it and put it back in front of him and said" Your Mom said you wanted this." He grabed my hand and put it on my finger, not saying a thing. At the end of visit he said "I forgot to ask you the most important question. Will you marry me?" Ofcourse I said yes. We are planning on getting married 6-6-09 IF the parole board let's him out.
We found out that both of our parents had gotten married on that date. Mine have been married 63 years and when his dad died they'd been married 50 years. So we decided that it must be a good day to get married on!!

My asked me in one of his letters. we have been togeter for 8 months we have talked about it before, then i get a letter and he asked me, we are going to get marryed while he is in there.

My baby asked me Sunday Sept 14th! It was a TOTAL shocker. We have know each other for over 15 years. He was my first...everything. Lol. We had talked about gettting engaged however I had no idea that it was gonna happen that day. At visitation he secretly had his sister bring the ring it was me, my daughter, him and his sister. He arranged the picture guy to take pics as he proposed. I had no idea. We went up like normal for pics and the first one was normal well everyone was "in line" waiting I was trying to hurry but little did I know they were waiting on him to pop the question. He got down on one knee and asked. I was balling crying. All our friends were there it was perfect. He is the best. I love him so much and I can't wait to be Mrs. Berrios!!! :)

Long story short. Having very strict italian parents, they wanted to meet him and his family. I made them promise me they wouldn't embarrass me, lol. Well his dad said I want to know what your intentions are to his son and that was all my dad had to hear so of course he asked Phil this too. I was so embarrassed I ran out crying, and Phil chased me out on my porch and said he just needed someone to start the conversation, that he loved me and wanted to marry me. This was back in 1986 and we had only been dating less than 3 months. Well of course I said yes but we did wait three years to get married. The rest is history, we are now married almost 20 years and together almost 23.

I Love this i could read everyones story and i will get around to all of them My story is a little crazy and in some way people think i am crazy Scotty and I had only been together a Month before he went in he got four years. Well He bought a ring not sure from who or where but that is not the point he wanted me to have and wear on Oct 07 and I gave him the gold band that i wore on my index finger not thinking anything of it and no words about marrage had been talked about then in April I got a beautiful letter wrote in Pink and he asked me to marry him in the letter and of course I said yes and then I went to see him and he got down on one knee behind the glass and he said will you be my ride and die chick For the rest of my life and I said thur my tears I said yes and then he wrote my parents a letter and asked them if he could marry me and they said yes It is not the most romantic in the world but i loved it and I love him we have set the Date of September 12, 2009 as long as he is out

We had been talking about it for awhile. I about fell, I sat on the couch and just started crying...it was a good cry!:D The 2nd time was while in there, we were sitting at visit and he said that we already had the common law papers and I had already tatted our last name on my wrist. And I asked "So what are you saying" He just smiled and said I want you to be my wife... for real for real. We laughed together and I got teary eyed. and well... Tomorrow we get married! :D:eek::D:):p:D

Here's my short but sweet story...
As A little girl you hear the man always ask his girlfriend..."will you be my wife?".... well as I grew up, being the feminist that I am, I wanted a man to be just as original as myself. I wanted that man to, instead of asking me to be his wife, I wanted him to ask me if he could be my husband. Surprising to me I found him, My King which I MWI.


We have been corresponding for the past year and a half and it has been the most cerebral, compassionate and passionate relationship that I have had. He would hint around to me about his last name looking really good with my first name and I would laugh it off and think nothing of it. But on March 14th of this year he surprised the H*LL out of me. He let me know that if he had a ring right now that he would propose to me in the letter that he wrote. So the letter went on and before he closed the letter he said..." Listen Boobie (my nickname he has for me) I don't have a ring right now but I know that you will be a great mother to our future children and a beautiful wife to me...You know that I want nothing more than for you to be my wife...But is it at all possible that I can be your husband?" Keep in mind that I did not tell nor give him the slightest bit of hint that I wanted to be proposed to that way. But he did it!... And with all the love that I have in my heart and mind for him I had to do something that was hard for me. And that was to tell him that I am not going to answer him right now until I see him face to face. I haven’t been able to visit with him since they moved him from Colorado to Kentucky but I am planning to soon. But I think a lot of you could just about guess what my answer will be.

I know my story is corny but I had to tell it...and share with you a little of what this man means to me...Although we met after his time begun...My heart can't help but take a chance on my SOULMATE!

Tony asked from the holding cell and i was in the isolation cell across from each other and he pointed to his ring finger and lipped will you marry me? i shook my head yes and we both started crying. i havent been able to see him, talk to him or write to him since that day.

He said "We were supposed to do this twice before, the first time it was my fault, the second yours (I went back to Michigan once I heard he received the death penalty, I couldn't handle it) I loved you then, now and I forever will. Here we are only 2 months from my "date". Will you now marry me babe ?" I was speechless. He may have saw the thoughts running thru my mind. (why now with him having such a short time left ?) He said "I know what your thinking but let me explain. It will allow us to be together for eternity babe. The death of a spouse does not mean the end of a marriage. Just ask your Mom. (My mother lost my father 15 years ago and has not nor ever will be with another man, she is waiting to join my father on the other side.) I immediately said yes and we will be married within a couple of weeks. He asked me to get 2 plain gold bands engraved with our names. I will wear them around my neck til we meet again.......

My man proposed to me a couple of weeks ago, I went to visit him (a glass visit) and he started laughing and looking embarassed, so I asked 'what's wrong' and he said 'I want to ask you something', 'obviously something funny' I replied, and then he said 'I want to ask you if you want to get engaged when I get out so that we can get married when the time is right'. He's asked me to wear a ring on my finger until he gets out and can buy me one. It was lovely to see him being so sweet and romantic, it's not something I ever expected to hear him say.

LMAO... My husband say to me on the phone " AYO, I think I want to marry you, can your smart ass see yourself marrying me. I said yeah...because I could, not thinking he meant it. Got the ring in mail like a month later. Its on my page.

EVENTUALLY...at our visit, he took it off my finger, got down on one knee and did it the right way.

The 1st time my husband asked me to marry him, I was cleaning the kitchen after dinner and he came over and hugged and kissed me and was laughing and asked me if I would marry him...I thought he was kidding so I said no and he laughed and said he was serious and asked me again and again I said no, he laughed and gave me a kiss and said "we'll see about that, your going to be my wife one day" and walked away....a couple weeks later he got arrested for a probation violation and he wrote me a beautiful letter telling me why he loved me so much and why he felt we had an endless future together and asked me to marry him again...and this time I said yes.

He asked me at visit for the first time. He did have it on his mind all day long until he finally had the nerve to ask me. He took my hand and I could tell how damn nervous he was!! He told me that we've been together for a while now and that his feelings for me do keep growing and then he finally asked if I want to marry him. So sweet... :-)

I was so happy to see him when he came in and we matched, we both had brown on! After hugging each other for the longest time, we sat down and talked and caught up... I asked him if he was hungry and he said no, I wasn't either, we just kept looking in each others eyes and smiling, stealing as many kisses as possible, I didn't even really notice how many people were around ... then he said "so, baby, when you gonna tell your parents we getting married?", I said "WOW!, Um huh?", he said you didn't answer me "I said was that a question?" and he smiled and said "yes, so when you gonna tell your parents we getting married?", I said you "haven't asked me the question" and then he said "baby, will you marry me?" I said, "of course I'll marry you." very simple and sweet, with a little comedy... I loved ... I'm still glowing, now we got to get a date LOL! I'm so happy!

We haven't married yet. What I try to do every day is to live in the moment and embrace what we have now and not think too much about later. I also would like to hear from couples who have been married for a while and how things are going with them.


My husband and I have been married for going on 3 years in July. It was a little shakey at first but we got it together and we're doing good.

He asked me to marry him on valentines day,we had a video visit! I just started crying he said whats wrong?? I just didn't expect it!! I was so happy!! We've been together almost 4 years, when we brokeup the first time i always wondered where he was or what happened to him!! But we were always best friends. My son went to jail in 2007 and called me ,said mom some guy in here says he knows you and my sisters!! It was him !! I talked to him . I just kept contact with him ever since, when doc took him i was there for him,and today i'm still here for him, i just feel complete!! I always loved him !! I just can't wait til he comes home, but that was so wierd!! For my son to be the one to bring us back together again!! I pray to god that everything works out for us!! I pray to him everyday!!

My baby had mentioned he wanted to marry me in the last few letters, then on the phone on Saturday night from segregation, he said he wanted to ask me something & before he got halfway through asking l screamed YES!!!!!!!!!! Then l said are you sure? & are you down on one knee, to his reply no lm handcuffed to the wall baby, actually!! aahhhh lm so happy l could burst. We are getting married in October. l just wanted to share my FABULOUS news with you all. Hirani:D

A proxy marriage is when you marry an offender while they are incarcerated. You have to get papers from the courts to sign at least 72 hrs before a marriage can be completed. Well in our case we would have to send it to the offender and they will have to complete the form and get it notarized and send it back to you. A prox is someone who will stand in place of the offender at the ceremony in front of the judge because he can not stand in for himselft being he is incarcerated. Like in my case my husband filled out and notarized the papers and listed his nephews name as a proxy. His nephew and I went before the judge and she stated Do you proxy Marlon on behalf of David take Yvonne to be your .......... Get it?:)

lol my booboo asked me in a letter I recived yesterday. He said I asked u this before but u always bullshitting me. than he said "Ma (my full goverment) will u be my wife? will u marry me?" I was like :O.. Than I wrote back and said "I dont be bullshitting you, ues I will be ur wifey" lol

My baby asked my in a letter first if I would marry him, I said yes. Then on June 14, 2009 towards the end of our visit in a smooth way he asked so what girl will you marry me? I was like omg I couldn't believe he asked me again but in person I once again said yes.

I went to see my Man on the second visit, I wrote Fiance' on the sign in book. I didn't see it the first time I visited. I told him did this. He had a few times b4 told other's I was. When in fact he had said to me that he may never want to remarry. So I was nervous telling him I had put Fiance' down. He said to me well aren't you? I looked at him strange Iknow and said to him well I don't know...am I? He said he wanted me to be. I still didn't think he was serious and I could not figure out why he ask'd me, are you? Well when I returned home, there was a letter from him. He had ask'd me in the letter, his first letter to me. He had ask'd me at the jail so strangely to me, only becuse he thought I had gotten his letter where he ask'd me to start with. Oh well lol...
He ask'd me and no one has ever ask'd me before.
I had ask'd my ex and to have my John ask me feels awesome. In my return letter, I answer'd him yes all over the pages....and on the outside of his envelope.

It is funny. He proposes to me in almost every letter, telling me how much he can't wait until the day I finally become his wife. Sometimes I think it is just to make sure I haven't changed my mind. We have been on and off for the past 7 years. It was over the phone as we have been seperated by state lines for awhile now. It was kinda sarcastic in the way that we have been friends for so long and even during the times we were apart we still ran to each other when we needed someone to talk to, so why don't we get married already and just stay together this time. In our past, I was the one with the fear of commitment. I thought at first because of our personalities he was just being a smartass, but then he waited for a few and told me in great detail how much I truly meant to him and then asked me to marry him. We aren't married yet, but we are working on it... hopefully things work out that we are married by the end of this summer.

My man and I have been corresponding for close to 10 years. We started off as friends but for the past 2 years our relationship has turned into love and adoration.
Last year for my birthday he sent me a package. He kept asking if I received it but I didn’t. He told me when it arrived that I couldn’t open it until he said so. It was about a week late. When it arrived I told him...yet he made me wait some more.
I was having a rough day. When he called I vented. He asked me if I had the package close by, I did. He told me to open it.
I ripped the brown paper off as quickly as I could. (Since he ALWAYS tapes packages up with two rolls of tape....it took a few minutes.) I had t set the phone down so I can use both hands.
Inside is a BEAUTIFUL handcrafted leather scroll carrier (that he made) about 25 inches long and 3 inches wide; decorated with Celtic knot work.
"Oh My GOSH! Baby it's beautiful!" I tell him.
"Open it," He suggests.
"It opens??"
He laughs, "Of course! One end opens but the other doesn't"
I open it and inside is a scroll. Bound by a leather thong with three rings laced through it, which he also made, from stainless steel.
At this point my eldest daughter comes into the room and sits across from me. She sees me fighting trying to untie the leather thong. I hand her the phone so I can pay attention to my task at hand.
(He tells her what the scroll says, so I found out, and she giggles.)
I unroll the paper, my hands shaking a bit as my mind races. It starts;
"Dearest,
Just as in ancient times, I send a messenger to bring you a message and a declaration of my love and intention towards you my love........"
The letter goes on,
"Will You Marry Me and Make Me Truly Complete.
With a sincere heart.
Eternally Yours"
My daughter hands me the phone and I scream, through tears of joy, “Yes, my darling man. I would be honoured to be your wife.”
The rings? One was from his hand that he always wore and the other two are our wedding bands.

We are hoping to be able to get married before the end of this year.

My soon to be hubby would talk about our happily ever after in our letters but I always assumed that would take place after he was released in 2013. But I went to visit him on september 20th and he asked me if I wanted to marry him. i told him that I did but was he asking me?? He said no Im not asking, I want you to ask me. It took me several minutes but I asked him and he said yes. THEN....an hour later in the middle of a game we were playing he took my hands looked in my eyes and said I love you so much, you are everything to me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me? Of course i said yes..!! We will be married by the end of october!!

His mom arranged it with the jail- when out on a whim, the lady was amazing :).

We went for visitation yesterday, I got called back behind the door by an officer. He took my phone my keys etc., and led me to what reminds you of an interrogation room. Mike was there- I'm like 'hi' I was pretty scared like WTF!? I did nothing wrong. I felt numb. ANYWAYS- he stood up, took the ring from his pocket, took my hand, went down to one knee. I started crying- he asked me to marry him, and I said yes. Through my broken sobs :P. He put the ring on my finger. I got to give him a hug, and he kissed me. I cried even harder- i think it was because i got to hold him for a minute. LITERALLY, then i was escorted out to the waiting room, where his mom, stepdad and my best friend were waiting.

His mom just hugged me :)
I told her thank you :)

Jack (his step-dad) said my face was priceless when the officer called me behind the door. XD- he was still laughing about that :P
