Hey y'all. I live in Houston, and my pen pal on the Texas Death Row has become one of my closest friends. I just began going to Polunsky almost every week to visit him. I think it's great that this forum is here; I've run into a lot of problems finding people who understand where I'm coming from when I talk about my friend. I spend a lot of time on the LV forums, and several of my friends have recently started writing DR guys, but other than that, the people I come into contact with just don't seem to be able to grasp the idea. Why would I want to write a convicted murderer, and how could I love him and consider him one of my best friends? Yes, I do love him dearly, but it's because I look at him as a person not as a TDCJ number. I'm just excited to find a group of people who KNOW what it's like to be close to someone on Death Row. Sometimes all we really need is just someone to talk to, someone to understand us. So thanks for being here, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of y'all!

Hi Destiny!

Welcome to PTO! I know what you are talking about! I have 5 pen pals that are on Death Row and nobody in my family or circle of friends can understand why I am doing that! But I don't give a s**t about what they are saying because it has to be right for me. For me these guys on Death Row have become good friends and I will always be there for them!

Have a good day!

Anja

Hi Destiny,

I agree, it is hard to come upon people who are even interested in writing to someone in prison.
I wonder if you and I crossed paths - I was in Polunsky's (death row) lovely visiting room on April 2nd and 3rd and also at the Coffield Unit. One of my very best friends relocated to Livingston last year and I always stay with her (and Wally her doggie :) ); during this last visit she and her had dinner at a very nice Italian restaurant and the following night we might 2 ladies who had flown over from Europe to visit their friends on DR at a new Mexican restaurant in town. I do have photos taken during my stay in Livingston.

No, if you were there in April then I wouldn't have seen you. I wasn't on his list yet. But, if you go anytime soon, PM me and I'll keep an eye out for you! I'm up there every week (going up tomorrow actually).

Yeah, it really is a blessing to be able to go see my friend as often as I do. I was there yesterday, and I'll be back up on Tuesday. I wish that everyone was as fortunate as I am in this department...
