Someone was asking about or stating that they got turned down for visitation (think it was for a boyfriend?). That reminded me this is something I wanted to know, too.

A young man (he's a friend of my daughter's from 4th-10th grade) is now at Ft. Madison. The first visitation slip I filled out I was denied. I figured it was because my son was not discharged yet. He was paroled, but not off paper yet. Or was it that my son was only 1 month off paper when I sent in the visitation form.

My question is, do you think I was denied because of my son still being on paper (or being 1 month off paper)? I have waited 7 months now and I would like to try again.
Does any one have any knowledge they can share with me on this.

Hi Di~ I dont know any forsure things, but I thought you could only be on 1 inmates list at a time. And I would bet that if thats the forsure case, then maybe its just a matter of them not having their paperwork, puter or whatever it is they keep that stuff straight with updated.
Can you call Fort Madison and ask why you were denied? I bet its because you are still showing up on your sons list even though he is not incarrcerated anymore, him being on paper shouldnt matter.
Keep us posted, ya just never know about the Iowa doc, they have a way of messing with ya thats forsure.

Whoops, LoL I read your question wrong
So to answer your specific question, yes I think thats what it was. And you should try again, hopefully 7 months later they will be updated, and if you get turned down again, then I would call and ask why.

Thanks Heather. I really want to go visit this kid. I just don't know why he was removed from Ft. Dodge and sent to Ft. Madison.

you have to be off all lists for 6 months before you can reapply and be accepted
