View Full Version : How long does it take you to hear from your loved one via mail?
Cutie110677 06-13-2004, 06:17 PM I was just curious how long it took everyone to hear back from their loved one. If I write a letter and mail it, it usually takes two weeks before I get a letter back. It frusterates me that the post office and the people sorting mail at the prison are so slow. How does everyone else feel?
Well, it takes 2 days for a letter to go either way but it'd be 5 days as he gets his mail at night and t's too late to mail it out the same day... 5 days wasn't on your poll... We just write every day/every other day so we're each getting mail all the time...

California Sunshine 06-13-2004, 07:28 PM It takes me about 3 days to get mail from him and it takes him about 9 days to get mail from me he said which 9 days is good as it was almost 5 weeks at one point!!
LeftHereAlone 06-13-2004, 07:28 PM Its usually anywhere from 5 days to a week from the jail to my house. Although he usually gets mine in 3 to 4days.
Littleoneinaz 06-13-2004, 07:34 PM UGH it has been a month and a week since the last letter.... And for what ever reason, im not mad.. or scared.. i know something is going on i dont know what but my gut says dont be mad! anyways usually it takes 2 weeks
qwerty 06-13-2004, 07:39 PM My letters to him take from 10 days to 4 weeks!!!!! His to me take 3 days. His prison is one of the worst for mail. :(
IMissRex 06-13-2004, 07:57 PM I am not sure how long it takes him to get my letters. I usually get one letter a week. The longest so far was two weeks for whatever reason. He tells me he has no time to write and is to busy to write with his work and school and going to rehab. I have finally come to terms with it. But some days it still aggravates me(When I am down). Whether it be him not writing or the mail is slow. I just find something to do to take my mind off of it.
mrsdragoness 06-13-2004, 08:05 PM depending on which day the letter is mailed out, its about 3 days each way. If I mail a letter on Wednesday or Thursday though, he won't get it until Monday.

jahanara 06-13-2004, 08:31 PM it takes 10-14 days for my letters to reach him,and the same for his to reach me. prison rules annoy me more than anything, though... i once sent him a map of the world and the prison sent it back, with a note saying NO maps allowed?!! WT-?!
LeaAnn 06-13-2004, 08:31 PM A week from one pen pal and longer for the others. My man barely writes so could be months in between.
JDMENDOZA 06-13-2004, 08:50 PM  My honey told me at CCI that the mail was backed up big time, and that the inmates were complaining. It took a little over 3 weeks to get some letters that I wrote to him.
I Love my Johnnie. so I send out 2-3 letters a week,I'm about to send him his 10 pre-stamped envelopes, but a little bit confused:confused: ,because I sent paper, took the cardboard off,and sent them in a large vanilla envelope, without the metal thingy......And they sent it back:eek: what did I do wrong?
As for getting a letter from him, it only takes 2 day's...
 Johnnie & Diana
:cuffs:
:yay: We will be One:yay:
jblovesdb 06-13-2004, 09:07 PM Well, it takes my letter 2 days to get to my man (unless I mail it on a Fri) then he gets it and it takes him about 2 days to completely write the letter, sometimes one (depending if hes stressing really bad and we talk on the phone) and I get his letter the day after he sends it out. I don't know why it takes mine longer to get there than his to me, but whatever. So it usually takes less than a week for me to write a letter, send it out, him recieve it, and for Dave to write back and send it. I get about 2 letters a week and he gets about 3. B/C I wirte him one every day and send them out every day/ other day. I love Dave!!!!!!!!!! Hugs:p

HotLatinaMILF4U 06-13-2004, 09:27 PM 2 days either way... unless somethings up, which you know...happens!
DENIMBLUE 06-13-2004, 10:26 PM Usually 3 to 4 days...no consistency in his mail room!
mattswife 06-13-2004, 10:49 PM It Takes 5 Days For Us!!! We Are Also 2 States Away From Eachother!
kerrilyn 06-13-2004, 11:10 PM for me to get a letter from him takes 1 day.
he used to get mine in one day also, but now they are keeping an eye on his mail, so it takes him almost a week to get mine...AND he gets like 10 letters on one day! its rediculous.
I couldn't vote cause...it takes one day for him to get mine...and one day for me to get his. I write him everyday...so that he gets one everyday...but...he doesnt' get mail on Saturdays...so he gets 3 letters on Monday usually. I only can get letters from him Tuesday-Saturday though...since they can't mail out on Saturdays... :(
Alynn528 06-14-2004, 01:56 AM 2-3 days for both of us depends on whenever you mail our letters out ya know
bfawayinpa 06-14-2004, 06:29 AM Well i couldn't check any of those since it only takes a letter 2 days to get to me.it usually takes him 3 days to get mine once in awhile 2 days.he;s not very far away and the mail system has improved in Pa.
babieboo 06-14-2004, 07:03 AM A week and a half to two weeks. Sometimes I do get letters in 3 days. It just depends what's all going on.
LilSun 06-14-2004, 07:24 AM A letter from Texas-Germany and Germany-Texas can take only 5 days, but also about a month!! It really depends. The usually time is 1-2 weeks though.
The mail system is sooooo messed up sometimes and pretty frustrating. GRRRR
But I´m glad that all letters arrive sooner or later.....
It takes 3 days to get to him. And 4 to get back to me. Hes in Texas and Im in Oregon.
Willsgirl 06-14-2004, 05:43 PM It usually takes about 3 to 4 days, that's without a holiday. If there's a holiday then who knows.
babygirl350 06-19-2004, 03:56 PM I am one of the fortunate ones. Our mail only takes one day.
If I had the time, I could even write and drop it off the same day in the post office, the prison uses and he would get it that day.
I am very fortunate indeed, only 40 miles one way there.

1LoveIsaiah 06-19-2004, 04:07 PM It takes 2-3 days both ways depending on the days. I am so grateful it's pretty quick because I can't get calls from him, and can only visit once every other week, those letters keep me sane!
MsChiku 06-19-2004, 05:19 PM (There was not listing for days on this poll) It usually takes two days for my husband to get my letters. And he responds immediately so I get his letter three days later. We average 2-3 letters weekly. Since mail is only delivered Mon-Fri.
SweetiePie71180 06-19-2004, 05:40 PM I write my Hunny Everyday and it takes 2 days for him to get it, He writes me once or twice a week and it takes me 2 days so its pretty smooth for us:o)
jessica23 06-19-2004, 11:18 PM it takes about 10-14 days for him to get my letters and about 2-6 for his to get to me... too long... :(
a.lil.love 06-19-2004, 11:26 PM Just a day or two. Like if I mail something before 11:15pm on Monday he'll get it on Tuesday. He writes say Monday but then can't mail it until Tuesday morning and I get it on Wednesday. Either way he gets mail evryday except Sat and Sun when TDCJ gets no mail. And I get mail everyday except Sun and Monday b/c he isn't able to mail things out to get here.
JayandMe 06-20-2004, 09:28 PM Ours is about 8 days....but thats going from Washington to Ontario Canada....so now that I read these posts, I don't feel so bad!
mybodymycanvas 06-22-2004, 02:17 PM It takes our letters two days to travel.
onesweetie 06-24-2004, 01:01 AM It takes 2-4 days to receive a letter from my hubby, but the long part is getting my response to him. When I mail a letter out it takes anywhere from 5-10 days to get to him because the mail room has to read every word and look through everything.
Jennifer_04 06-24-2004, 01:16 AM Sounds like Cali really sux on the mail...sorry ladies! It takes about 4-5 days to get a letter from my man....that's from GA to TX! Sometimes I'll get a letter he sent out friday on a monday, so i guess I can't complain about the mail being slow here huh
AngelFaceAlbion 06-24-2004, 01:48 AM i usually get a letter on wednesday, which our visits are on monday so his thoughts from the visit are in the wednesday letters, then he gets one from me and i usally get one on friday from him..:-P i love him so much

mlle_keiko 06-24-2004, 05:55 AM Where my Hubby is "mail call" and "mail pick up" is at 5:30...so...the letter that he writes doens't get mailed out until the next day and it only takes 1 day to get to me after it's post marked. On the other hand, I'm not sure how long letters take to get to him, well once they get to the prison, as it should only take a day to get there and then who knows how long it takes them to go through the mail and such at CRAF...but I think since I've been addressing my envelopes the way I have now, I think it's going faster, but maybe that's my imagination? LOL HUGS...Keiko
LOL I forgot to mention my man is a letter writing maniac...he writes me every day...regardless if he has envelopes or stamps....so the days I don't get mail due to him either running out of stamps or envelopes...look out, cause then the next letter I receive is like 20 pages long!!! He said that he writes so much cause there is not much else to do with them being locked up 23 hours a day AND he wants me to know how much he loves me and misses me and is always thinking of the boys and myself...and writing letters to me helps him "cope" and that he is starting to enjoy writing me. :p
HUGS...Keiko

Sorry it takes so long for him to get your mail because they have to read every word and look through everything. Don't you ever wonder how they can take the time to do that with the mail. It is a wondering they get any mail delivered. I know sometimes they read mine, because they dont even bother to put the pages back in order. Sometimes I will even include a line just for them. Have to make their time worth it. LOL!

Angelbaby8599 07-05-2004, 12:12 AM It takes 3-4 days for both of us. So we have to wait over a week to find out an answer to any given question we may ask. Some day I'll have money and be able to afford phone calls...
babygirl502 07-05-2004, 11:16 AM It takes about two days for our letters to go either way, so I'm one of the lucky ones :) As I read the posts here, I cant believe it takes so long for others to receive their letters, wow, must be hard waiting for that mailman. :( Well since Matthew and me are no longer together, and we barely began to write to each other again, I really dont write as often as I once did, he does write about twice a week and I try to write back as soon as I get them, but with all our problems between him and I, its kind of hard.
trysha 07-05-2004, 12:08 PM it takes two days for my letters to get to him and two days for his letters to get to me...unless we send them on friday because then we have to wait until monday to get the letter. he gets his letters late at night and has to wait until the next morning to send out the letter and he usually responds pretty quick to a letter...even if he's just writing a short letter to let me know that he received my letter. he keeps me updated on when he gets my letters.
ufo captain 07-08-2004, 09:36 PM My letters get to him in 3 days, and his come to me in 3 days usually but a couple of times it took 4 days.
it takes about 2 days for his mail to get to me and about 2-3 for mine to get to him.
i can't complain! :)
starduk 07-19-2004, 05:05 AM Well surprisingly it can take around 4 - 7 days to get a letter all the way from the Lone Star State to the Great White North.. i am surprised at the one that took 4 days though.. lol.. because it was mailed out on a friday and i got it tuesday!! .. Talk about fast when it has to go clear across the country!! LOL.. i have no idea how long it takes for my letters to reach him.. i shall ask though!! I hope not tooo long.. :(
Sam's girl 07-19-2004, 05:10 AM it takes two days both ways
Dre's Lady 07-21-2004, 11:32 AM It Takes 4 Days To Receive A Letter From Dre.
rosita 07-21-2004, 11:48 AM This is my biggest gripe right now. It use to be three days for his mail to get home. I started getting upset when letters started coming up missing. Now they take one to two weeks to arrive. If they arrive at all. And I am in the same state. So really there is no excuse. As for my mail to him, I can mail it from our hometown and it won't be there one week later when I come to visit. Instead I mail his letters while I am in the prison town  . A two-horse town!!!! He gets it the next day! Does this make any sense? No!
traciem2004 07-29-2004, 05:01 PM Thankfully we are only 7 hours away so I get his letters 2-3 days after he gets mine. When he was in Colorado (I'm in GA) it would be a week for my letter to get there then a week back. By the time I got the letter I wouldn't know what he was talking about.
Nuro's Wife 07-29-2004, 07:07 PM Our letters take 3 days each way because we are not in the same state. We write everyday or every other day so that we both have mail coming regularly.
october 07-30-2004, 06:00 PM Two to three days depending on the day we mail them out.
ozziegirl 08-04-2004, 02:20 AM I write my man more then he writes me but as a general rule I get anything from 2-5 letters a week from him. Of all he writes have only ever received about 40% in 5 mths. He always writes me back straight away and mails it, takes anything from 6 to 14 days to get to me as I live overseas. Even taking weekends or holidays into account its not unusual for them to hold onto the letters for up to 5 days prior to posting. Is better then disappearing like many of his letters do. Im just happy to get them even if they come sometimes 3-5 at a time. He is in worse situation with some of my mail not getting to him for a mth...and sometimes whole weeks of mail missing in the abyss of the mailroom. He hits panic stations and calls his mom to make sure Im ok if he dont get at least one of my letters in a week.
irisheyes66 08-04-2004, 03:29 AM Next day delivery here for both of us....his facility is 25 minutes from my doorstep ;)

Just curious, I wonder if the hold up in the mail is because of you being in another country? It seems I have read of others from other countries who experiences the same delays, both to and from.
It is a shame for real. I am sure with him knowing how often you write, it must be very distressing for him not to get your mail or hear from you at times.

ozziegirl 08-08-2004, 04:36 AM I think its a combination of a few things including living all the way over here but really believe that its dependant on who is doing the mail and they get some kind of a kick out of messing up the mail. If only could prove it. Mail to anyone else in the states gets there within a week and vice versa. Its an easy excuse for the mail room to blame international mail for their childish fun. I think Im a bit annoyed with them right now lol

I am so sorry that you are having this problem. You may be right that they blame the international mail for their childish fun, however, I can share with you there are alot of international mail that comes through and it does seem to take a little longer for the prisons to distribute. Perhaps it is because of our 911 saga, I don't know.

Dre's Lady 08-21-2004, 05:52 AM When Dre was in Palm Beach, Fl it took me 4 days to receive a letter from him. The letters come in the next day after he writes it. He's in Miami now...
WuzFuzz 08-21-2004, 06:47 AM It averages four days (in the actual USPS system) each way, except on weekends and holidays. We're 3,000 miles apart, and in small towns (mail is processed in the nearest large town), so that has a lot to do with it. I've noticed lately that the mail is REALLY slow---over a week one way to CIVILIAN friends---no idea what's up with THAT...
mzpeachez 08-21-2004, 06:54 AM I would say about 3 days, although sometimes it takes only 2.
rays_babygirl 08-31-2004, 05:41 PM We both write eachother everyday. It takes my letter about 2 days to get to him and he responds and I get the response in 2 days. He gets mail everyday except weekends. We have vowed to each other that we would write every day since we are unable to talk on the phone.
Cubana 08-31-2004, 05:43 PM less than a week. I get his in 2 days as well as he gets mine. That's been at Wasco, Jamestown, Camp and now in Chino
TheGeneralsWife 09-01-2004, 12:50 AM From Salinas Valley it takes 1 day and to get to him it take no less then 14 days and up to 5 weeks for him to get it. If he ges it at all. They have been returning a lot of his mail lately, I don't know why.
1sassysistah 09-01-2004, 01:10 AM My husband writes me every day. I feel like a pampered Queen. It takes just a day or two for his letters to get to me. But the mail from me to him is a whole other story. Here lately the mail has been moving faster. It now takes 3-4 days for him to get my mail. And it has taken as long as one month for him to get my mail. Sometimes the mail room is extremely slow. Which can be a royal pain!!
Tulip 09-01-2004, 09:45 AM In general we write each other over the weekend. His mail is sent by the mailroom on Monday and I receive it Saturday. My mail goes in the post on Sunday and he gets it Friday night. So that is 5 - 6 days. He's in Florida, I'm in Amsterdam.
babygirl350 09-01-2004, 09:50 AM Tulip - That really isn't bad timing for the distance between the two of you. Of course I am sure you wish it were sooner, but I thought it would take alot longer.
Remember Hope is a good thing, it springs life eternal.
mm4ever 09-01-2004, 10:36 AM It takes 2 days..He is in Bryan, TX and I am in Dallas, TX.
mm4ever
Tulip 09-01-2004, 01:31 PM Babygirl350 - No, it is not too bad at all indeed. Even with Charley the mail still went just as speedy too.
BryansGirl 09-01-2004, 02:34 PM It ussually takes me a week to hear back from my fiance Bryan but we write to each other every week.
TragicsLady 09-01-2004, 02:58 PM Considering my fiance doesn't like to write, it takes a while to get letters:) otherwise it takes anywhere from 3-4 days to get mail, there has been a couple time where he has sent me a letter and I haven't received it still today. I had one that it took a couple monthes to get to me. He gets my mail in 2-3 days though and I try to continue to write him 2-3 times a week but when he calls daily and I don't get mail from him it's hard to keep up on letters that all seem one sided almost like I'm talking to myself :( All right I'm rambbling again.:p
angel-of-peace 09-06-2004, 02:43 AM Normally it seems to take about 5 days either way for the mail, though lately some of my pen pals have been taking quite along time to respond.
angel-of-peace
Over here in Uk it takes from 3-10 days normally but the prison my loved one is in now takes around 3-4 weeks both for him to get mine and visa versa. Other times it takes about 4 days, depends on the volumes of mail they have. We write daily, so sometimes we both go without for weeks and weeks and then we get a ton of mail! He is in Illinois.
NJR102000 09-06-2004, 06:59 AM Since my husband is in California it takes 3 days for the mail to get there and then it is distributed to the inmates. He always sends his mail out on Sunday so that it goes out first thing MOnday morning and I get it by thursday(the latest). If you see that the mailroom is taking too long to give your husband his mail then you should call the warden and file a complaint. I have called the warden on several ocassions and the problems have been addressed immediately. I have no fear when it comes to getting my husband what he needs. One time the mailroom lost a priority envelope I sent my husband which had writing paper, envelopes and stamps. When my husband told me that he hadn't received it and it had been 2 weeks already I called the mailroom and wrote down all their names and when I told them I was hgoing to write them up with the warden they found the envelope within 20 minutes and then delivered to my husband. There was also another incident where they misplaced some perfumed oils I had shipped to my husband and I did the same thing plus I even had UPS call the mailroom with me on the line and as soon as UPS said they were going to investigate then miraculously the mailroom found the package. So as you see you must be aggressive when it comes to the mailroom and even medical attention but that's another story and believe you me I can go on and on and on about all this. So basically it could take about 3-5 days but if you want something to get to him ASAP then you should send it Certified mail because that is considered LEGAL MAIL to them so they have to take it directly to the inmate and hand it to them. YES!!! Certified mail can be a little costly but it's worth it. Hope all this helped you a little bit. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask me :-]
Oh we have tried, all of us who write this particular prison, believe me! The mail sorts itself out periodically and then it all goes wrong again. They used to have 11 in the mail-room, but some retired and others left and now there are only 3. The budget does not allow for anymore so we are told. We have all written to the warden and the director etc. They brought in some federal guys months ago and it ran ok for a while. I got my August letters from the first weeks beginning of last week. My July mail came 3rd week in August. Last week it ran okay, well one of the letters did anyway!I have been agressive with the medical treatment story and done quite well on that, but still a way to go.He has filed a grievance on the mail and we are awaiting the results of this particular grievance. Hopefully all our letters should force them to change something. You have to be so careful, as retaliation is always on the cards. Thanks for the tip on certificed mail, but from over here in UK it is very costly.Usefulto know though for something of importance to get through, thanks! Don't know what else we can do to change the mail there though.
mz aundrey 09-06-2004, 09:02 AM it take about ten days to get my letter back maybe three to get to him he always respond right back
Keltria 09-06-2004, 12:19 PM 11 days both ways - i am in South Africa
RhiannonFJBU 09-06-2004, 12:45 PM He gets my letters within a few days. However, his letters getting to me take about 4 weeks. If it's post marked the 1st of the month, I'm lucky to get it by the end of the month! <sigh>

Francesca 09-08-2004, 07:52 AM Jude - where in Illinois is your honey ? - I've just starteded writing to a new Pen-friend in Tamms and am curious about what they're like with their mail.
Francesca ( UK)
He's in stateville. Tamms I also write to as do a few others here. Mail takes a little longer there in Tamms and will be totally scrutinised in every way. Whatever you do, don't mention other inmates and if you write of any man, make sure you say something like John , my brother, else they seem to take it the person you write of is another inmate. Anything else you need you know, just ask or p.m. me. Be happy to help.
Jude
2nice 09-08-2004, 10:00 AM I'm in London and my man is in Atlanta. It normally takes him 7 days to get a letter from me... It can take anywhere from 4-5 days to 2 weeks for me to get a letter from him! I dont know why that is.
I remember when i once mailed him a letter from ATL airport, which is about a 30 min drive from the prison, and it took 3 WEEKS to get to him. I'd come home and mailed him a letter from London which had got to him before the one that i'd mailed down the road from him!!!
susan the finn 09-08-2004, 10:14 AM I'm in Finland and my penpals are in dif places in US...it seems to take about 7-10 days to them to get my letters and other way around. It's annoying at times but no can do. Yeah, Finnair flies to NYC (and to Miami, Chigaco, Boston...) every day...
Susan
I'm in Germany, my pal in Texas, and normally it takes about 2 weeks til I get a letter. This time it took 4 weeks, but I heard that there were some problems, so that might be a reason.
I had a pal in Alabama and those letters needed 2 weeks one way.
minniecas 09-08-2004, 11:09 PM It use to take two days..Now it take over four months and still the letter hasn't got here..minnie:cool:
babygirl350 09-09-2004, 09:15 AM Minnie-You have got to be joking. Are you at opposite ends of the world or something? Surely there is something very strange going on here. Have you and your loved one checked out the mail room to see if the problem is there? Or perhaps the letter was never written? Very strange indeed.

Briansbutterfly 09-09-2004, 09:35 AM NEVER!!!! He doesn"t write........... JERK!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
babygirl350 09-09-2004, 09:51 AM Oh my gosh, he doesn't write? What seems to be his problem? He does enjoy getting mail, I would think, maybe what is good for the goose might be good for the gander?
Good luck to you.

QT_IN_MILWAUKEE 09-09-2004, 02:21 PM Well I am 5 minutes (driving) from where my baby is and it usually takes a day if I get it in the mailbox before the mail man gets there!!!!!
njersey29 09-09-2004, 02:27 PM HI
When my man was locked up i was sending him letters via priority mail. He was getting the letters about 2 days AND i was also getting a delivery confirmation tracking number so i could track the movement of my letter. Yes it is more expensive ($about 3) BUT that way the letters get to him faster. I was sending from New Jersey to Lexington,KY. I waited 2 weeks to get a letter from him.. now THAT is slow service.
maybe if your rich try priority mail so that he gets letters fast but then again - your worried about the time it takes for him to write to you. take care
p.s.. and no i am not rich (ha ha)
brooksangel 09-10-2004, 01:08 AM He gets mine in a couple of days... on the other hand... it takes me about a week to recieve his.....:(
brownshuga27 09-10-2004, 10:24 PM it usually takes him about 5days to get mine, and 2days to get his.
Gemini4lif 09-13-2004, 12:38 PM 2 days for my mail to get to him, 3 days for his mail to get to me
IceBlueSparkle 09-13-2004, 02:21 PM Far too long !!!!
His mail arrives relatively quickly from California to Ontario, Canada...the letter I got today only took 4 days...It generally never takes more than a week !! But my mail can take anywhere from 2-5 weeks to get into his hands.
We just had our first crisis due to the mail delay...he thought I'd stopped writing...he hadn't gotten news in over a month...meanwhile I am writing him almost every day !!! UGH :shake: He decided to boycott me  and I was fearing the worst...something had happened to him or he'd gotten into trouble. Alas all the worry was because the mail was sooooooooooooo slow !!!:blah:  I finally got mail today.:yay:  and the stress is gone ....
Sam-JB 09-13-2004, 02:48 PM I get a letter a week but I recently told him we should write more often. :P
babygirl350 09-14-2004, 09:41 AM IceBlueSparkle - I am so sorry you are having this problem. It does make it very difficult when one doesn't know what is going on. It is a shame the mail takes so long indeed. Just keep on communicating and tell him to do the same.
Are you checking to see the date he wrote it opposed to the date it is postmarked? That will tell you if it is the mailroom or the Post Office.

lilmamas21 09-14-2004, 03:15 PM It takes me 3 days to get mail he sends me and him him anywhere from 10-15 days to get my mail! Its like by the time he hears what i have to tell him, its already old news! I really wish they'd go through the mail quicker!
simple_sarah 09-14-2004, 03:40 PM I usually get mail from my husband within 3 days depending on how often I write
babylove 09-14-2004, 05:51 PM If say he sends me a letter out on sunday it gets to me by tuesday. :D I am not sure how long it takes him to get my mail I think maybe a few days to a week
Jesse's Girl 09-17-2004, 11:30 PM Well my guy is in ASPC winslow(Arizona), and I haven't gotten anything from him since 8/15, so looks like its taking months for me!! AZ sucks!
PSMITH3127 09-17-2004, 11:41 PM hi, it takes 2 days for my letters to get to Scott and for his to get to me. On the weekends it takes 3. I usually get 2 to 3 letters a week, with 2 or 3 letters in the envelope and I mail about 6 or 7 a week to him.:)
crimlaw 09-18-2004, 11:14 AM I have sent a letter to my guy in the morning and he has rec'd it that night....I couldn't believe it...but he called me when i got home from work and said he had gotten it and read it to me....i was dumbfounded..mind ya...it does take time to get his...
Francesca 09-18-2004, 12:13 PM Had what may be a record for me - letter posted from Leavenworth 7th September 2004 - recived in England 12th September:) .....they usually take longer than that :blah: .
Bookiesgril 09-23-2004, 08:00 PM About Three day's... lately he's been writing me on thursday and sending them out on the same day or friday.... The funny thing of it is I've been reciving them on Monday *laughing*... It used to take much longer then that because, him being in CA.... The mail room must be caught up or not reciveing to much mail... doen't normally take much longer if your loved one is in the hole???
YankeeGirl 09-24-2004, 02:25 AM  My honey told me at CCI that the mail was backed up big time, and that the inmates were complaining.
It takes him anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to get mine. He is in Wasco so they are pretty slow. THough It takes me 2 to 4 days to get one from him. The only mail he gets from that is fast is the post cards I send him.
As far your pad coming back. Id it has any type of sticker on it. Like price tag or anything that is one reason they would send it back. Another is if the envolope was the one with the bubble wrap inside they send back also.
Retired-26 09-27-2004, 08:37 AM well it normally only takes a couple of days, 4 at the most but it has been running slow as hell lately! either that or he is mad at me!!
Francesca 09-27-2004, 12:55 PM I seem to be on a 10 day 'average' for mail - but this is being streached out by Royal Mail :blah: who have just extended my postman's round - he starts at 6am and finishes at 2.30pm - and now they've widened his round he cant always deliver to my village - so we sometimes get mail every other day #sighs#
TLJDT 09-27-2004, 01:49 PM I live in Canada and write a friend in Florida.....I used to get his letters in as short of a time as 4 days , but it always took longer for him to get mine...7 to 9 days. He was recently transferred to southern Florida and the last letter I received from his was postmarked over a month ago. So I'm concerned and I hope to hear from him soon!!:)
Csmcgrl23 09-27-2004, 05:38 PM it takes 3 to 4 days either way, my letters to him or his to me. I am in Cali and he is in Hawaii. He is being moved though and now that I am spoiled I don't think I am going to be happy waiting weeks for his letters or knowing that he is waiting weeks for mine.
dazzler 09-27-2004, 05:51 PM too long
~StArFiSh~ 09-28-2004, 10:47 PM Opps!! I voted wrong- I put 1 week but ....I get his mail in about 3-4 days , what takes 4ever is for him to get my letters...about 2 weeks for him to get one of my letters, so my real answer would be 3 weeks.
e_wife03 09-28-2004, 10:57 PM if i put it out today he gets it the next day or 2 days ...
jessesgirl4ever 10-03-2004, 04:02 PM
Silva 10-04-2004, 11:42 AM Wow, at least this seems to be one thing Dallas County can get right! My mail to Ray gets to him in about 7 days, and his to me in 5 unless he sends on a friday ~ their mail room doesnt seem to work weekends. And that is from the US to the UK.
babygirl350 10-04-2004, 12:19 PM Silva-Wow, that is really fast considering how many miles it has to travel. We dont have mail delivery this coming Monday, the 11th as it is a holiday here.
Remember Hope is a good thing, it springs life eternal.
tunaboat 10-04-2004, 02:37 PM It takes 2 days for him to get my letter, about 3-4 to receive his

well its good when it works lmao! I've had nothing all week now, yet I know there are 5 letters on their way to me at various points across the atlantic. Gods, the waiting is hard!
Thanks for the heads-up on the US holiday
copperhead395 10-14-2004, 01:27 PM Letters I mail take 2 weeks to reach my son, but overnight for his mail to reach me.
I'd like to be paid state wages to sit on my duff and not get the job done in a reasonable amount of time.

Crenshaw'sWife 10-26-2004, 04:53 PM Mail usually only takes 2 to 3 days to get to me. I assume it may take an additional day or two for him to get my letters since they have to be opened and so forth at the prison.
brownshuga27 10-26-2004, 09:23 PM it takes 5 days both ways. if i mail a letter on monday, it gets to where he's at on saturday. dont know how long it takes to actually get it in his hand, being that the mailroom has to read so many letters.
Billy_Boys_Wife 10-27-2004, 08:38 PM Wow, pretty long. If Billy mails his letter to me on Monday, meaning it'll go out that afternoon and actually get stamped at post office Tuesday, I'll get it Wednesday. And I'm pretty sure it's the same for him receiving my letters. Guess it's pretty quick here!
JamesWifey 10-29-2004, 10:07 PM It takes 2 days for me to receive a letter from James and the same for him to receive a letter from me. I would go crazy if I had to wait a week or two, let alone three or four!!! I don't know how some of you can go that long without mail! But I guess when you do receive it, it's that much more special!

27sbb 10-29-2004, 10:15 PM It takes two to three days.
