View Full Version : Polunsky Unit on Lockdown. softheart 06-13-2004, 11:49 AM If you are planning on visiting, please call first to see if they are still on lock down. softie lill'magic 06-13-2004, 03:38 PM are there no visits allowed while on lockdown,I'm traveling from Belguim to Texas in less then two weeks to go visit!! CelliePieGrrl 06-13-2004, 04:00 PM They have been on lockdown since Monday, and still were as of Wednesday...not sure if they still are or not. Death row still has visits, even when on lockdown, but I am not sure about general population. lill'magic 06-13-2004, 04:17 PM Thanx a million for the info sweatbearslilwifey,I'm visiting some one on death row, called last week on friday and it seemed to be okay,at least no one said there were no visits, but I didn't know since when they were on lockdown thats why i worried. You saved me from a sleepless night!;) Again thanx Katja Keltria 06-13-2004, 04:23 PM Why are they on lockdown in anycase? Sorry i might have missed the reason why somewhere along the lines. But thats just me lately. Kyla 06-13-2004, 04:35 PM Keltria I believe they have routine lock down, from what I have been told through letters. The lockdown today, was over someone having a knife (dont quote me here), and things are being looked into. I dont know if its DR or general that happened to. CelliePieGrrl 06-13-2004, 07:53 PM Thanx a million for the info sweatbearslilwifey,I'm visiting some one on death row, called last week on friday and it seemed to be okay,at least no one said there were no visits, but I didn't know since when they were on lockdown thats why i worried. You saved me from a sleepless night!;) Again thanx Katja You're welcome, Katja! ;) You may still want to double check before you leave Belgium, because you never know when they could change the rules. However, do NOT lose sleep over it! :) I am sure it will be the same as always, and I have always been able to see my husband even when they were on lockdown. So don't worry! :) Kyla...great girl now you got me worried! LOL Hopefully no one was hurt or anything! If you get more info, let me know. Kyla 06-13-2004, 08:10 PM I believe no one was badly hurt, but they were taking care of it. I dont know if it happened in general population, or Death Row, but they are saying that they will have it sorted soon. It was a guard I believe that was stabbed, but not badly hurt, not one of the inmates. As I said, dont quote me, I got the info from someome in email. So Im speaking second, maybe third hand, thats all Ive heard. destiny221 06-18-2004, 08:25 PM Polunsky is on lockdown, but I've visited DR twice since they went on lockdown, so I know they're still allowed visits. My friend said that it was just the semi-annual lockdown that they do when they go in and shake down all the cells, but I've heard that there was an incident in GP. So I'm not too sure what's going on visitation wise for the GP inmates, but the DR guys are still allowed visitors. softheart 06-19-2004, 09:31 PM The knife incident was in GP no DR, this lockdown is one of their scheduled lockdowns. softie rimmel 06-19-2004, 10:40 PM I got a letter today, he said they are NO longer on lockdown. destiny221 06-21-2004, 11:36 PM Alright, now I'm confused... I've heard from several people that Polunsky is off lockdown, but I was up there today visiting, and not only did my friend say that they were still on lockdown, but the guard in visitation said they still were, too! I think general population is off, but I was told today that they're still shaking down cells in DR and that they won't get off lockdown until they've gone through every cell. Both my friend and the guard said they think by the end of the week... so I don't know. But that's what I heard when I was up there today, so I'm just passing along the information. Anybody heard anything else? softheart 06-21-2004, 11:38 PM I have heard DR is still on lockdown and GP is off. I heard that today. Destny I would say your friend probably knows since he is there.:) softie destiny221 06-22-2004, 10:38 AM Haha, yeah, that's the conclusion I came to. He probably would have a good idea, huh? :D Alvarado 06-22-2004, 11:05 PM Alright, now I'm confused... I've heard from several people that Polunsky is off lockdown, but I was up there today visiting, and not only did my friend say that they were still on lockdown, but the guard in visitation said they still were, too! Anybody heard anything else?I have heard from my friend on DR and he say's a guard was stabbed 16 times in 22 sec. but he had on a bullet proof vest so it was not fatal but, it was the normal shakedown of the cells, that started lockdown but now they have found alot of weapons so it will be a little longer, so still on lockdown. Damaris 06-29-2004, 10:49 AM Hey everyone! I was just wondering did anyone here have a loved one or a penpal on deathrow in Holman prison in Atmore Alabama? If you do please tell me when the inmates on deathrow there are allowed to have visits. I still do not know and I am planning on going there soon. If anyone has any info please tell me, Damaris Kyla 06-29-2004, 11:59 PM Polunsky Death Row came off lockdown on the 23rd June :) |
