Well, I got some pretty bad news today. Seems that Robert has been taken out of his 6 month prison camp and sent back to Egeler Receptions Center. I got a letter from him today, and he told me that he had gotten busted for putting my number on his phone list as his mom's number. BUT, in the letter he told me that he wasn't in too much trouble, that he was just getting his phone priveleges taken away for one month. He also told me that on December 13, he will be 3/4 of the way through with the program, and at that point he will be able to call me. (He was only allowed to call immediate family members before) BUT, when I got home, I had a message from him on my answering machine, and it said the call was from "Robert" at Egeler Correctional Facility. ???? So, I called the prison camp he WAS at, and the guy on the phone told me that as of Friday, Robert was still there. I explained that I had gotten a call from him and he was at Egeler, so the guy put me on hold, and then came back and said, "oh, I am sorry miss, he IS at Egeler". I asked him why, and he didn't know. I said, "well, that can't be good can it?" and he said "well, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't" I know it's not because his program was a 6 month program at this camp, and as far as I know, there isn't any early release. So, the only thing I can come up with is that they kicked him out of the program because of the phone thing. Would they actually do that? I mean, what the ??? Since I missed Robert's call today, I am totally freaking out! I am scared to death that they kicked him out, and he is now looking at a lot more time. Would they do that over a stupid phone list? UGH!!! I feel like I am going crazy! If he gets another year or something because of this, I will lose it. I mean, how does the prison camp know that the number he put on that list was mine ONLY because his mom stays with me? Or because his mom can't receive calls and she comes to my house to talk to him. Can they actually stop that from happening? I am so out of sorts right now. If they parole someone early, they don't normally send them back to Receptions do they? I just KNOW this is bad. ACK! Help!

Jeni... I don't have any answers either. I know it's easier said than done, but try to have a little patience... I'm sure you'll be hearing from Robert (with and explanation) in no time! Hang in there Jeni....

Did he go thru Receptions before? When he first went in? And where is this Egeler Receptions Center???? I thought there was only one in Jackson and one in Marquette? It will make more sense to me when you answer the first 2 questions......

Hi all. Well, I had to work late tonight, and when I got home, there were two messages from Robert on the machine, but of course I missed the last one by like 4 minutes. So, I still have no idea what is going on. Deb, he was at the Egeler receptions center when he was first locked up. (Went to county for about 10 days, then off to Egeler.) He stayed there about 2 months before being sent to a prison camp in Coldwater. The Egeler receptions center is the old Jackson state prison. I just looked up Robert's MDOC web page, and there is a new picture of him. (He had a picture taken when he first was locked up there back in June-like they all do) I am thinking that maybe he caught a new charge? I mean, do they take everyone's picture even IF they were already in prison before being sent back to receptions? Does that make sense? Are they only taking a new picture because he is back there again? Or is it because he has a new charge? I am also wondering if on the MDOC web page, would it say that he had a new offense if he had one? Like, say he got busted trying smuggling contraband into prison. Would it say that on the web page? Or is it too soon since he JUST went back like 2 days ago. Man, I just don't know. The thought of how much time he is going to get for whatever he has done is not even the issue-yet. The hardest part is the not knowing what the heck is actually happening. Once I find out what really happened, then I will have time to freak about his added time. (Cuz I am sure there will be added time-even if it is for a stupid phone list) This sucks!

I'm confused. To my knowledge they only go thru Reception and guidance once and that's when they first go in. IF he got a new charge they have to prosecute him on that and find him guilty and then he gets charged. If he got written up for something--then they get lockdown or top lock or whatever. Why RC & G?? It doesn't make sense to me. Unless camp is different. Bill didn't even go back thru RC & G when he was home for over a year and then the Supreme Court reinstated his "guilty" and he went back to county and then straight back to the facility he had been at over a year before. This is beyond me. Maybe someone else will have an answer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. What site did you see his picture etc..? Are all the guys on there?

Hey Deb-thanks for your response. It boggles my mind too. I don't know why he would be back at Receptions. I think that prison camps are different in the sense that Robert was in a strict 6 month program. So, I don't know what they really do with people that break prison rules (like phone lists). I hope to God that I can talk to him tomorrow.
Have you been to the MDOC website? It's the Michigan corrections web page, and they have an offender search. They have everyone's sentences and things like that. You should check it out if you haven't yet! :)

If he was sentenced to SAI and did not complete the program, it's likely that they sent him back to Egeler as a re-commit. I think I read something about him being a TRV, and they must've given him the option of prison or SAI, then if he got into trouble and could not complete SAI, they basically start from go... Sorry if I'm confusing you more.

DON'T YOU KNOW, THE PRISON SYSTEM DOES NOT NEED A REASON TO DO ANYTHING THEY WANT TO. THEY MAKE UP STUFF ON THESE INMATES JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN. MY SON IS IN A TEXAS PRISON, HE HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH GETTING CLOTHES THAT FIT HIM, THEY ARE TOO SMALL, HE HAS WROTE HIS I-60 BUT THE LADY AND GUARDS TELL HIM TO WEAR THEM OR DO WITHOUT. HE FINALLY GOT TWO PAIR OF BOXER SHORTS THAT FIT HIM AND HE WASHED THEM OUT EVERY NITE TO HAVE A CLEAN PAIR. I HAVE CALLED HUNTSVILLE, FAXED THE WARDEN AT THE PRISON, EVEN TALKED TO HIM IN PERSON ABOUT IT, HIS REMARK WAS WE ARE WORKING ON THE CLOTHES PROBLEMS. I DONT KNOW WHAT STATE YOU ARE IN, BUT CAN YOU CALL THE WARDEN AT THE PRISON AND ASK HIM WHY, HERE IN TEXAS YOU CAN. I USED MY STATE REP. IN MY COUNTY WHERE I LIVE TO GET MY SON MOVED WITHIN 2O MIN. DRIVE FROM OUR HOME BECAUSE OF MY HEALTH. IT TOOK HIM 2 MONTHS TO GET IT DONE. MAYBE YOU COULD CALL YOUR STATE REP. YOU KNOW I JUST CALL ANYBODY I THINK CAN HELP ME, ALL THEY CAN SAY IS NO OR I DONT KNOW, THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING TO YOU. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THRU, MY HUSBAND WENT ONE SUN. TO VISIT OUR SON AND THEY TOLD HIM OUR SON WAS NOT THERE ANYMORE, WELL I GOT ON THE PHONE CALLED THE UNIT THEY SAID HE WAS SOMEWHERE ELSE, I CALLED THERE NO HE WAS NOT THERE, I TOLD THEM NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT I WOULD FIND MY SON MYSELF, BEFORE THE DAY WAS OVER I FOUND HIM IN THE HOSP. IN GALVESTON HAVING A TOOTH PULLED THAT WAS INFECTED. SO DONT GIVE UP.
