I JUST HEARD EARLIER ON THE NEWS- THIS GREAT STATE OF TEXAS HAS 3 EXECUTIONS SCEDULED FOR TUESDAY, WEDNSDAY, AND THURSDAY. NOV. 19th THRU NOV. 21st. GOD, WHEN ARE THEY EVER GONNA STOP THIS!!!!!!!!!!!! SHERRON:fb:

I`m from Holland , and it`s just so unbelievable for us that people are put to death in prison......

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has stayed the Thursday execution
(Nov. 21) of James Clark.

JOY- I THINK THE PAPER SAID IT WAS BECAUSE HE WAS MENTALLY RETARDED. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW WHY IN THE HELL THE GUY WAS ON DEATH ROW TO BEGIN WITH!!!! I GUESS THATS TEXAS !!

Texas still has this "old west" mentality. Back then someone got caught doing something really bad, they just strung him up on the nearest tree. That was justice in the old west because they didn't have a safe place to lock someone up for the rest of theri life (a secure prison). But today we have all these prisons and can certainly keep even the most "hard core" murderer behind bars for the rest of his life. We don't have to commit "state murder" to safe guard the public from the worst of the worst. Capital punishment goes far beyond the safety of the public. It is a punitive act. We, as a society, have been brainwashed into believing that we must punish the offender by taking his life.

Here in Texas I think it is supported more by those who have (usually Republicans) than those who have much less (usually Democrats). I think it's also mostly a white, anglo, male, saxon thing.

I haven't been in Texas too long... but before I even moved here, that's all you heard, "Texas has express lanes to the chair". It's so unbelievable!
