I have been searching for a way to do something to help children who really need it. Around Mother's Day I was reading an article in the paper about children who were being bussed to see their incarcerated parent(s) and I thought to myself "That's nice, but once a year is not often enought". So, I started doing research, and realized that there is such a need for organizations that deal with children and families of prisoners--especially the issue of getting to see the incarcerated family member.
Through my research I discovered, as many of you I'm sure are living, that the prisons are often hours and hundred of miles away from where family members(including children) live; making it almost impossible for visits. And if there are visits they are sporadic.
I then realized what it was I had to do-which is to get others to make it a priority that inmates and their children be able to see each other on a regular basis and that the bond that they have, be kept. In order to do this however, I need the assistance of a few families in the Los Angeles Area who would be willing to share with me their experiences. If you or someone you know would be willing to help me help others, please email me back. I thank you in advance for any suggestions or help.
