Today is such a glorious day for my brother and I must share it with all who care to read this post. It will surely bring hope to some who currently feel hopeless.

Today the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals filed their opinion in my brother's case and reversed the convictions for Count 3 and Count 4 (weapons) which yielded 30 years of his 31.3 year sentence. To read the opinion go to http://pacer.ca6.uscourts.gov/cgi-bingetopn.pl?OPINION=04a0167p.06

Although I have read through the opinion once, I am too excited today to really be able to digest its significance. I do realize that this is just one battle and the war is not over.

We must all strive to end the injustices of the drug war.

Kintml2u,
I have posted the case under the thread "Brother's case overturned US v. Combs." It is rather lengthy, so I will not take up precious space posting it here also.

Thanks for showing interest and for all the support this board has offered to us over the past few years.

Jeni,
Thanks for posting the link. I'm not that computer literate yet!!

Oh, yes, he and I are elated. We still have no idea when he will be released but we know it will be very soon rather than when he is 75 years old!

I certainly wanted to share with the rest of this wonderful family because I felt it would offer some small rays of hope for others. It has certainly been a difficult three years for us--we have worked hard but we have learned so much and grown so much. I have told him from the very beginning that 'nothing is all negative--there is always something positive in even the worst of circumstances." Perhaps, his case will help others in their fights for justice and all that he has lost will not be in vain.

Thanks to all for being there for us.
