Hi my boyfriend is at leavenworth camp he just arrived in may and was sentenced to 51 months on sawed off shotgun andbeing illegal drug user in possession of that gun. He took an offer for the 51 months, all this stems from us getting in trouble together with the state. We both did our time then feds came in as he was getting out and swooped him up. by the time we finished with state we had no money for lawyer so had to take appointed one. So now I'm sitting at home not even able to see him (cause I'm still on paper) waiting patiently and that's my story. Now does anyone know anything about "habius corpus" as it might pertain to him? This is his first time down so he's wondering if there is such a thing as 90 day shock?

He served time on this with state....then feds picked same charge up? Isn't their something about not being able to be charged for 1 crime twice? Doesn't that @#$%!
Anyhow...welcome to PTO! Glad to have you here! Can't help with the habius corpus...maybe someone else will be able to!

Dont know anything about habius corpus. But I do know Leavenworth and how it operates. If I can help you with questions let me know. I am from Waterloo and my wife made that long drive down for a couple years. I will be glad to help if I can

I hope that it won't be too terribly long before you'll be able to see him. So sorry, I have failed to introduce myself and want to take a moment to say thanks for the wonderful postings on this site. A friend of ours just began serving a nine-year sentence half the country away from his wife and family. He is an elderly man suffering from cancer. He is a first-time, white collar crime offender and was told he would go either to the Leavenworth or Yankton camps. He would still very much like to be sent to one of those. Can anyone tell us if he could be sent to a facility closer to his family or if he has to stay where he is for a certain period of time? I recently read an article that stated camps are sometimes worse than the prisons as far as prisoner treatment. Is that true? We just don't know where to get the information that all of you are so willing to share. My sincere thanks.
