My son, Zach--age 8, would like to talk to other kids in the same situation. Are any of you game? I'm going to put him on here to introduce himself. He always sees me on here and has no one his age that he can relate to and them relate to him. Most of the kids at school don't know........Here he is----- Deb

My name is ZACH and my dad is in prison. Is your dad in prison? I don't like the food at the prison . We go to visit him every 2 weeks. It takes us 4 1/2 hours to get there.I sleep all the way and play my gameboy. I play hockey.Do you play any sports? I wish he was home.:fb: Can you write to me?

aw, bless his heart. i am afraid that my kids dad is not in prison. maybe some one here can help him?

My kids are to small and have not meet David yet but I do have a niece that has a uncle that is in prison and they were real close before him going in she is so upset most of the time cause of it. She writes him everyday and drawa a letter and she gets a letter from him like 3 or 4 times a week she lives with me.
she 8 years old and in 3rd grade and maybe it could do her some good to talk to other kids about this stuff .

Thanks. Zach is excited and smiling. Can she respond on here to him? Later if it works out maybe we can set up a time and day for them to chat. On his intro you had mentioned the chat---he either gets off at the college (where I work) or at Boy's and Girls's Club and then has hockey at night----but we're usually home for sure about 8:30 pm at the latest. Unsure what time that would be for you guys. He bugged me to get up this morning to come and check and see if anyone wrote back. Thanks. Can she respond on here?

I know that my son would like that a lot. He feels alone in this. All his sibs are older and he has no one his age or even close to it that knows that he can talk to about it. He tries to keep it hidden from his friends cause of what they'd say etc...

I would have had 10 but the whistle blew. This year I made 1 so far. It reflected off my stick. Did you ever get hat tricks?

Hattircks are the best!! :D I've had a few of them, though they don't happen often anymore. I'm with you, I like playing center the best too. I was a defenceman for years when I played in the park league's here--from the age of about 10 to 14....then when I went to high school and played there I got changed to forward, so I've kinda stuck with that. I think defence is probably one of the hardest positions to play, you really gotta think and 'know where you are on the ice all the time'....keep your eyes peeled and really watch the game. You must be pretty good, you're coach gave you a good compliment. Hope you have a good season this year, try and get a whole bundle of hats, you can sell them to your friends and make a bit of cash. :)

I'm hoping we can have a forum for just kids to post on and Sherri and Jessesgurl it would be awesome if your kids posted!! Like I said earlier we can monitor the kids so they just stay on their stuff---I wouldn't want Zach reading some of the jokes etc... But, just staying on their forum---if it could be for kids up to a certain age---would be good. They could feel connected and not so alone and talk to others who understand.....

HAHAHA... you're watching the Red Wings right now? Why don't you toss a beach ball at your TV and see if Cujo can stop it??? :D He's a good goalie. I was hoping he was going to play last Saturday night, I went to the game, Detroit played Toronto...kicked our butts. They put that other gumby in net though, which was good for him cause he's from Toronto and he got to play in front of his family and friends.

You can put pictures up if you hit the 'post reply' button and go to the next page that opens up. There's a little button on it that let's you put up pictures, pretty cool eh? The Leafs just scored twice, they're beating Boston 2-0 in the third period...but they have plenty of time to lose the lead still...hahaha.

I just love this thread! Zach, I'm so glad that you and your mom came up with this idea. I'm going to visit it often and send out some BIG Hello's from Connecticut!!

A centerman is somebody who plays hockey and when the ref drops the puck they shoot it down the ice. That's called a face off. He goes in to get the puck or waits by the other team's goalie for a pass to make a goal. I like being a centerman to passs to my team mates and get an assist. How hot is it in Illinois? Do you have snow yet. We do!

What food do you like? I like pizza, spaghetti, meat, salad, veggie lasagna, sandwiches, lunchables, cereal, and candy.

I've seen the Buckeyes play a few times on TV, but I don't follow college football too much. I watch the NFL on sundays, I like the Chicago Bears...even though they are hopeless, I still like them... I guess cause my dad followed them when I was a wee gaffer, so it kinda stuck with me. :)

Ok, to post a picture? See right below where I'm writing this, there's a few buttons? They say profile, pm, search and buddy. Look over to the right hand side, there's two more buttons there...post a topic and post reply. That's the button I was talking about, post reply. If you push that button a new window will open up on the computer, and that's where you can add a picture. When the new window opens up, you'll see another typing box where you can type in what you want to say....below that box, there's a space that says "attach file". You just hit the button called Browse, and then find the picture on your computer you want to stick up here. Once you've found it, just hit the submit reply button and the picture will go from your computer to the message. I hope that helps, if you need more help, just give a holler... I'm keepin an eye on here so I'll see it and get back to you.

Hi Zach, I'll leave you the page I got them from okay? You and your mom can go check them out. You can click right here (http://www.uselessgraphics.com/hockey.htm) and the hockey page will open up. There's four pages of them there, without about 8 or so on a page....page 2 has a couple cool Detroit Red Wings logo's you might like. If you see one you like and your mom says it's okay to save it on the computer, put your mouse over top of it, and click the right mouse button....you'll see "save image as..." on the little window that pops up and you can keep it on the computer. Just remember where you save it to so you can find it again! haha... If you and your mom want to go to a nice site to check out lots of other type pictures, you can click here (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/8961/A-M.html) There's two pages of cool moving pictures--they are called gif's, or giffy's in computer talk. Those two pages has everything from Birthdays to Aliens to Flowers and Bugs, Christmas stuff... you name it!! Have fun!

You truly amaze me with all the computor stuff you know. Did you major in computors or where did you learn all this stuff? Zach's going to be excited when he sees this in the morning. So, each one of these that I let him save is using up a lot of memory right? Can they be put on regular e-mails?

lol...No I didn't major in it, just picked it up along the way, got big in to hacking...now I'm a good boy. :D These small pictures don't use up very much memory at all, I probably have hundreds of them stored on my computer. You can't attach anything to these posts that are over 100kb in size--if you want to check the size once you've downloaded it, just right click on the image on your computer and hit 'properties' at the bottom, that'll tell you how big it is. For instance, the Maple Leaf a couple posts up is 22kb....very small, doesn't take up much space on your computer. You can attach them to email, just hit the attachment button in whatever email client you're using and point it to the saved picture with the browse button, it'll go off with the email.

Yeah...you're right. Losing isn't much fun. But hey, Zach? If someone said to me, "Toe, you wanna come play hockey tonight? We're gonna get creamed cause the other team is really good...but you wanna come play?" Guess what? I'd go play. Sure...sometimes losing sucks, but it's better than sitting home on the couch not playing at all. Look at Cujo...he keeps trying. He has a 15 to life sentence, so as you can imagine there are a lot of issues she deals with. I am sure that Zach does too. Hey Deb,
you have an amazing son. When my daughters go see their dad, which they don't get contact visits, but they visit through a screened area, he always gives them a thread from his clothes for them to keep and they give him a thread from their clothes. It's kinda like they will always be together in some kind of way.

How does it feel to have your dad in Jail? I know, I have lived through that. I know it's not a fun experience but sometimes grown ups do bad things. I hope your not having a hard time dealing with it. When I went to vidsit my dad in Jail (he's out now) that was the first and last time I did because when I went there I couldn't stop crying. It's just weird, you know? So write back maybe we can talk some more later.

I am 9 years old and in the 4th grade. I like art and math and reading in school, that's it. And I like Spyro the Dragon. I have the 3 Spyro games for PlayStation. My favorite TV show is G Gundam. When my dad was in Jail, I was sad and not happy and I missed him a lot. When he came home I was so happy I was almost crying. I hope you win your game!

HOLY COW ZACH, WHAT HAPPENED!!! Jeez, I watched the first period and then had to go to my hockey game and it was 2-1...someone brought a radio to the game so we could listen to the Leaf/Wings game in between periods. Course it wasn't long till I wished that radio stayed home...your brother is right, Leafs do suck.

...and we lost last night 3-2 in Overtime...lousy night all around. :D

Nope Zach, I didn't score...got a lucky assist though. I play in a men's league, my team is called The Blue-Al's, it's short for Blue Alumni. It's made up of a bunch of guys from the old University I went to, and the University hockey team is called The Blues. There's a couple teams in our league of old school friends, and there's a couple of cop and firemen teams, and a few businessess have teams too. We played The Enforcers last week in overtime--yeah, that's a cop team of course--we beat them last time we played them. How did your team finish in the standings this season? Spring league here doesn't start until May, so we still have 6 or 8 games left in the season...then playoffs. If we make them :D.

Your Welcome Zach, soon as I saw them you came to mind...being a chicken...er, sorry... Red Wings fan. :) They were pretty neat. You came in 4th place? That's not bad, maybe you can do a bit better in the spring league. We play our last season game tonight, we'll either finish in 2nd or 3rd place, depending on whether we win or lose tonight. Either way we make the playoffs....top 4 teams make them. The first series is the best 2 out of 3, looking forward to it...should be a blast!!

It's fun in California. I wish it snowed over here. I've only been to the snow a couple times in Tahoe. It was really fun. Do you like writing emails to people? I think it's fun because you can talk to people while you're not even on the phone. I think emailing is cool. But anyways, I really like it here in California. It has lots of fun places. Have you ever been to Disneyland? I've been there, but I didn't get to ride much rides because the lines were HUGE!!!!!!!

My daughters are 13 and 9. Their daddy is in prison in Oklahoma. I am sure they would love to chat with Zach. I know that my 9 year old would have a ball. I have my girl's in counseling in regards to their daddy being gone. He has been gone for 8 1/2 months now serving a 17 year term for manufacturing meth. My husband calls every night between 9 & 10 to talk to us and I am not sure of the time difference between us. But I will get online at home and we can set something up.

Just found this thread and thought I'd send you a note. How're things going with you and your family?

My oldest son, David, is incarcerated in Parr Highway Correctional Facility in Adrian, close to the Ohio border. He arrived there in September of this year, and will be away for 2 to 15 years. David has a 4 year old daughter who is living with us while her dad is in prison. A bit young to be on the computer, though she does try to type sometimes. She misses her dad all the time, but will be able to see him once a week starting this week.

My youngest son, Matt, is 14 (a 93) and a hockey player. Matt plays goalie on his high school varsity team now. Are you still playing hockey? I saw in previous posts that you are great at defense. Nothing a goalie mom likes better than a great defenseman!

I've spent a lot of time in hockey rinks over the past 6 years, since Matt started playing hockey at age 8. I've become a real fan of the game, though I have to say that I prefer watching the games in Midget Major and under better than the pros. It's great seeing the skills develop through the season and the years.

Matt is having some problems adjusting to having his older brother in prison. I know he'd like to have someone his own age to talk to who wouldn't put him down for having a family member in that situation. I'll let him know about the posts so he can join in.
