Hey, all. I've been involved with the Arizona prison system for a couple of years now through my fiance. One question: Does anyone have an update on the proposed change for the truth-in-sentencing law? This would require inmates to serve 65% of their sentence instead of 85%, which is the current law. This was supposed to be a bill voted on by the legislature any day now, but I can't find info. on it anywhere. Any help is appreciated! Thanks :)

Go to MiddleGround - they keep all of that current information. The bill was shot down, it's not going to happen. :-(

I had an email from an az representative and he did say that though there is nothing pending at this time, that they are hopeful to have somehting renewed in the house with the mandatory minimums
this is the email
this email was sent to me may12th
Thank you for your heartfelt e-mail. Have you seen the article in the AZ Republic today? There is a story about a committee down here at the Capitol trying to reduce the number of mandatory sentences and look into an early release program. Hang in there - Rep. Michele Reagan
