hi
my husband is in county jail waiting for a parole hearing that could revoke it. he violated his parole with a misdemeanor dui. somebody on here suggested that i try to get a sponsor to visit him in jail , and have the sponsor present a letter to the parole board. i called AA. they werent any help. do you have any suggestions? thanks
It was my suggestion that if she could get him set up with a AA schedule and maybe even a sponser before the hearing that might help. If nothing else if she can put in her support letter that he has a sponser and AA meatings scheduled as soon as he is released then it will help him. Does anyone have any ideas where she can begin finding sponsers and who to try. It would help if she could say in her letter that he now has a sponser who has been visiting him at county jail, but even if that cant happen then at least saying he has one will be enough.

Hi,
I have been thinking about this post and how to respond to this. I am not sure about Alabama but in California they have members of AA who go into the county Jail and carry the message to those incarcerated. H&I is the name of this and it's Hospitals and Institutions..I used to go to the women's part of the county jail and try and carry the message to the women in there.
He can find a sponsor through there, and my suggestion to you is to let him do this. For you to find him a sponsor is enabling him. IF he has a problem and wants to do something about it, then, he needs to be willing to do the footwork. Sponsors are not there to write letters to judges, and most would tell you or tell him that he needs to face the consequences of his actions...It might be what it takes that will encourage him on the road to recovery. You can be supportive, but my suggestion is LET him to this.
