;) Hello everyone!
I am new to PTO as my family is new to the Federal System. My husband was sentenced on 4/26 and has been in BOP custody since that day on a 27 month sentence. It has been a long month with 4 days in a local hellhole and 4 weeks in a bit of a better one but still not contact visits. 5 times over the phone and through the glass.:(
I am trying to find out some information about offense levels and levels of security. Is an 18 a camp level? I would appreciate the help.

Thank you for the welcome! Maybe someone will come along that will know. Some guys he has travelled with since that fateful day in the courthouse were moved last week. We were of course just trying to find some reason in it. Probably not any!!!!!

Typically, a 27 month would qualify even at an 18pts. Usually, if your down for 10+ yrs you would not be allowed a camp environment at least that's what I've heard. However, if there was violence involved, then that could preclude him. Maybe he could get into Eglin? I wish you luck! All the Best!! :)

 I called BOP in Atlanta today and they told me that he had been designated. Can anyone help me with what that actually means - bottom line. It has been a long month+ in contract space and he is anxious to move on and develop a routine.

Hello, and welcome. I downloaded a lot of info on the 2000 Federal Sentencing Guidelines. Of course, some things have changed, but it is the complete forms to figure out what point level he is at. I am going to try to attach this for you. It is in PDF format, so you have to have Acrobat/Adobe reader. The application isn't It's a word document but the full manual with important forms and instructions is. It's called "Security Destination and Custody Classification Manual. If you cannot access this, let me know what your email is and I will try to send it to you that way. Also, below is a link to the site to directly download if you cannot get the files I am sending. I hope this helps you! http://www.ussc.gov/2000guid

It means they have received his Judgement and conviction and they have equated his points to what his placement will be...i e....high medium or camp......and where his family is for him to be closest (if there is room at that facility). They should have moved him by now and hopefully you will know where he is. Sometimes it takes a week or so to get a phone list set up, but if he has a decent "counselor" they can let him make emergency calls. I am speaking from a USP point of view. A medium may be different and a low even less restrictive. I hope you got my other post. Please let me know.
