Has anyone heard if the contract for Newton will be renewed? Are they still transferring people there? I want to buy a plane ticket to visit my friend but am afraid he'll be transferred.

Thanks Arriana, I have the ADC site bookmarked. You're probably thinking of Reeves in Pecos, TX. The contract with Newton is up in June and they've had some problems there but I guess there's probably nowhere to put them at this point.

Just called ADC today. My friend wasn't on a transfer list. The clerk didn't know anything other than the contract was still being negotiated with Newton.

Newton and Arizona had a meeting on the 27th of May about the renewal of the contract. But thats about it, I also have not heard another word. I know my son also waites for any word also. I have asked him to please call me if anything comes up.ANYTHING I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed:>

My girlfriend just called me, she was driving down this weekend to Newton Texas to go see her husband. But her husband called and told her that he came up with a dirty UA !! She called the prison to see if he could have visit's still? The prison employee told her he cant have any visit's for 6 months and is only allowed to write one letter every three weeks and only to one person for the next 6 months also? No phone calls!
She is not a happy camper right now, I feel so bad for them both. Patty

That's awful, az. Wonder if that's violating ADC policy.

I called DOC last week to ask about the contract renewel, they said they have no info at this time but to call back in 2 weeks.

Just got a letter from my friend in Newton. He asked his counselor about the contract and the counselor hadn't heard anything about the contract not being renewed. The counselor said the deadline for the renewal was June 25, '04.
