okay here goes...
I'm sherri (think most of you knew that)--I am the mother of six beautiful daughters who are my joy and inspiration ages 17,17,13,9,7,and 4 (You know I am only 21 so I had my twins when i was 4--lol) I also have a precious grandson who will be two in August. Next year I will have two daughters who are seniors in high school and one entering kindergarden. Now I have kids in high school, middle school, elementary school and day care.
As most of you know, I grew up the daughter of an air traffic controller in the air force-lived all over-mississippi, florida, texas, oklahoma, new york, georgia, germany--have travelled all over europe when I was younger--
I got my BS from the University of Georgia and will be getting my MSW on May 18th-I have been in the program for two years full time along with working full and part time and it has been rough...I have worked in human services for 15 years and currently work in emergency mental health services where we evaluate people who are psychotic, suicidal, homicidal, addicts and do brief therapy, commitments or outpatient referrals--I love what I do--is very satisfying to know you have been instrumental in intervening in a positive way at a critical point of someone's life-
I am interested in prison reform (what a surprise) and am the NC-CURE chairperson. I hope to write grants to get funding for alternative sanctions and treatment programs where individuals can get what they need instead of being warehoused in prisons. I also want to initiate programs for children of incarcerated parents , and family connection programs to work towards maintaining the family ties that are so critical to success after release.
I have 2 brothers who live in california--one is an actor and one a singer -- My father died in 1989 and my mom is remarried . We are a very close family and although we don't always see eye to eye on things, we always see heart to heart.
I love writing, lyrics, poetry, hope to write a novel one day..music,movies,basketball ( I have four girls that play--my daughter jackie scored 19 in sundays game including five three-pointers--that's my baby!!) I also like to sing karaoke, travel, working out, most sports and anything to do with water.
I was married at 19, divorced five years later, and have been off/on with Ron ever since. It has been a difficult road as he has struggled with addiction for 9 of those thirteen years. Don't know that I could have taken it if I wasn't sure that he is my soul-mate --and I do believe in soul-mates. And I have never felt such unconditional love, except for my children. And God is constantly working in our lives helping us grow as individuals and in our relationship.
I am a very open person so feel free to ask me anything I left out. i appreciate PTO so much because there is compassion, understanding and no judgement here--just love and support.
thanks guys
