hello everyone,
I wanted to know if there is any one out there that has any info on inmates doing 80% of the time. My husband is in Fire Camp and I heard something about a new law that the inmates doing 80% of the time would be doing only 60% of the time. does any one out there know what I am talking about?

thank you,
Tomi :o

Well there has been a rumor floating around for some time that they are going to reduce sentences. It takes on various forms, but I can confirm that the majority of them are just that, rumors. However, I think there is some truth to some, how quickly that will happen is another matter. Chances are, if they want to reduce costs, they will deal with the non violent and aging first, or at least thats the official word from the state per their website. My hubby is in CCC waiting for transfer to a fire camp and has heard something about people in fire camp getting 1/2 time even for 80%ers. I am always skeptical about these things though. I think there are some places that you can read up on the latest senate bills and you can even call Sacramento to see what you can find out. I would say until you see it in writing don't get too excited, but at the same time they are definately looking for some ways to cut costs. Another thing to consider is that CDC moves very slowly so unless your man has alot of time left, it might not be in effect in time to change his situation. My man said that usually July is when things happen around there so stay tuned. Believe me, I hope this is true too, but I'm not so convinced yet...
