Care9 05-26-2004, 05:29 AM This is just my opinion of course but I don't think your letters are going to carry so much weight that they alone will determine the outcome of the hearing. In saying that, I'll admit that I am always apprehensive when I write to them and yes, I have written letters for others who will say "Just write it for me and I'll be happy to sign it." I didn't understand the hesitation on their part until I chose to write a letter for a friend's husband who is coming up for parole. I was so nervous! Didn't know what to say, how to say it, etc. It was then that I realized I was giving myself too much power in the situation. The PB doesn't care if I am grammatically correct (although it is important, as well as correctly spelling everything) and they don't care if I cover all the points that COULD be covered. What they care most about is that I write. The more you stress over "doing it perfectly" the bigger the task grows in your mind. (Speaking to myself here, lol!) My suggestion is to just write one. Then you can go back and change it to your heart's content until you are happy with it. Start the one from the employer something like "Dear Members of the Board, I am writing on the behalf of Mitchell LastName, AIS#1234567. Mr. LastName was a work release employee of mine from [give dates here] and I found him to be a young man who was proving himself to be a responsible and valuable employee in my [what kind of] business. (New Paragraph) I realize that because of bad choices he made at that time, he lost the privilege to work outside the prison. However, I now understand that Mitchell has taken advantage of various programs during this recent incarceration that have benefited him tremendously and have given him tools to be a success when he is paroled. I believe he has matured as a result of the hard work he has done and I am eager to employ him once again upon his release. (new Paragraph) If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please contact me at [email and phone number]. I look forward to helping Mr. Lastname in whichever way I can to help him succeed. Thank you very much.
I believe that short and to the point is what they want and for sure to focus on the inmate's success, not how much we love them or how much we believe in them or how much we need them out here!
So anyhow, you don't have to say this word for word of course but you get the general idea.
Let me know if this helps. You can also PM me if you prefer.
Hugs,
Care
angelntn 05-26-2004, 06:27 AM Hey Care9, would you write a letter for me? That is really good! I wrote one to the parole board concerning my fiance. I am trying to get his parents and others to write the parole board also but no one seems to want to take the time!! Sometimes it seems that I am the only one who cares!
Care9 05-26-2004, 06:52 AM angelntn,
I'm not sure what you have in mind but PM me and let me know what you are thinking.

IM4U21DER 05-26-2004, 10:05 AM when i see every1 talking about writing to p&p i start wondering if i should be writing them on rebecca's behalf even tho she has a hearing date scheduled. so do I?ALSO YESTERDAY SHE MET WITH CLASSIFICATION OFFICER AND THE WARDEN. THEY EXPLAINED TO HER HER OPTION'S AND WORK RELEASE WAS ONE OF THEM. IS THIS A GOOD THING OR WILL IT TAKE LONGER TO BE PAROLED IF SHE TAKES THE WORK RELEASE.
