Has any one heard that Lynaugh Unit is no longer taking pictures on visiting day? If it is true, what can families do to get it chanced? My mother-in-law enjoys getting pictures when she can't travel due to her health.

My man hears that parole is getting harder and harder to get. Has anyone heard anything on this? I tell him it could be just prison chit-chat. He could be talking to people with bad cases on them. His sentence is 20 years. He has done 14 months.

Thanks for all the help you have given us.

My son is in Pack Unit, they take photos any weekend but after he was transerred to the trustee camp they doit different and they only take photos one weekend out of the month - I think it's the first weekend. Go figure!

I've heard from my son that maybe parole is getting easier because of the over crowding waiting in county jails waiting to get into state prisons.

TDCJ has rules but each Warden reads them different. Keep your chin up Blackhawk. They tell me it gets easier. Sure would like to know when, the leaving them there is the hardest part.

Chit chat or no chit chat, overcrowding in 2003 is inevitable. The TDCJ did NOT get the additional funding they were seeking for 2003, and as long as people keep filing in, statistically, the 99.2% occupancy rate will blossom.

If you read legislation and the TDCJ moving forward proposals, OVERALL, length of stay is 50.67% of sentence. In the non-viloent category alone last year, 29% of all non violents who were up for parole were granted, and of that 29%, they served an average of 30% of their sentence.

Things look promising in 2003, and while I've been instructed that the parole board does NOT consider overcrowding when review comes up, I have no idea how they can possibly ignore it.

I also heard this info trulykath...there seem to bealot of problems with the TDC these days..I even heard they are being sued by Microsoft for something like 9 million $ for copyright problems...????......trulykath--where did you get the statistics you put in your post? Stephen is a non-violent offender and I always try and get my hands on everything and anything that may be hopeful info.....hang in there ladies--I have a feeling parole will be alittle easier here on out.

The statistics I have are from a variety of sources.

This is the 2003-2007 strategic plan or TDCJ. (It's in adobe).

This site has up to date (thru 2001)Texas parole stats...

Hope this helps!

These stats are very interesting indeed. Phil's sentence is on a non-violent crime also.

What can a love one do to help? Phil got the last four teeth pulled last week. They are still giving him regular foods. Besides making sure he has money on the books, is there anything else I can do?

My heart breaks for the ones that have no one on the outside. Phil has two buddies that their families turned their backs on them. Is there anyway we can help them?

Amelia and Kath thank you so much for your help. Sometimes it feels like we are alone in this. Nice to have people in our court.

Has anyone heard anything about the inmates classified as "violent offenders?" I know there isn't much to offer these guys, but I'm just hoping. Take care!! PEACE!

Check out the links I sent. There are stats there for each category! I also saw prison forecast this morning for 2003. This document is also in adobe, and gives EVERY state's projections for 2003. I will post this in a general forum as well. Any suggestions on where to put this so that everyone might benefiit Amelia?
