Just checked my email and found this return message in response to the "lost files" issue.
Thank you for making the effort to contact my office and share your
thoughts about Michael Sullivan. It is important for me to know what
issues are on your mind, and I am sorry that my response to your message
has been delayed.
As you know, in February 2004 the Parole Board discovered that some
inmate's files had not been properly handled. According to the Parole
Board, every inmate who was involved has now been notified. The Parole
Board has made a final parole decision in each of these considerations.
The employee responsible has been punished for his gross insubordination
and inexcusable misconduct. He was demoted, and no longer has any
managerial involvement in the clemency process. His salary was cut by
25%.
The Parole Board has implemented several checks and balances to ensure
that no inmate's file is ever delayed again. I appreciate your making me
aware of your interest in this matter as a Georgia citizen.
Sincerely,
Sonny Perdue
