View Full Version : Any 411 on Visitation @ CALIPATRIA STATE PRISON?
hueritalinda 05-24-2004, 12:44 PM Could anyone out there give me any 411 on how visits run @ Calipatria State Prison? Also does anyone from thee Orange County visit anyone there that I can find out all that I need to know to see my man who's there?????
Xicano 06-13-2004, 08:11 PM I would suggest that you find out the number to "Friends Outside" Friends Outside is a organization that helps families deal with their families incarsarration or provides different types of services to help out. I believe that every prison has it's own chapter and they can give you detailed information on the prisons rules and regulations. If not your loved one can request a copy of the rules and just have him or her send them to you. Hope that it helps.
hueritalinda 06-16-2004, 01:07 PM Thanks Xicano~~~,
I have submitted various of letters to him, but no response.Do you advise me to call there directly to see if they are holding anyones mail.Unless he just all sore from me not coming out to visit. You see I can only do so much and holding up with the bills, work,& all the real things that happen out here, sometimes makes it even more difficult to try in catch up with him being away from home.I cannot just show up & expect for the warden to let me in w/o filling out the application.Yes I'm aware of FRIENDS OUTSIDE,I used their service back in 1996 when I was living in Pasadena. I was just wondering if someone knew just a little bit more about Calipatria & if anyone has visited that prison. So that I can get a lil 411 on how it is.Also I posted a new thread stating if any 1 was interested in carpooling I of course would be the driver. Its less expensive to stay for the days that they allow visitation & also with gas (now that the gas prices have gone up :shake:) Any ways thanks for your reply. BYE-BYE

PIMAKAT 06-16-2004, 03:36 PM Hello...until January '04, I used to visit at Calipatria twice a month. I'd be happy to help with any info that I can -- depending on which yard/level you intend to visit (Level I vs. Level IV). What specifically would you like to know? Also, I recall that there are several other members who have loved ones currently at CAL - you might want to post this same question within the California Forum.
Feel free to PM me or ask questions here -- I'll check back.
hueritalinda 06-16-2004, 05:33 PM Hey there Pimkat,
Currently he is in level 4, & I would like to know at this time of year how is the tempature? Also what is the dresscode as to some prisons are a little different. Also is it almost like Chino where at one point they had picnic visits? How about the staff such as the wardens. In other words just giving me the 411 on how your visits & experience were while visiting Calipatria? Thanx, hope to hear from you soon.
BYE-BYE:)

JettaXdia 06-17-2004, 12:19 PM hi, i try and visit calipatria as often as possible, im also in OC. As for the dress code, i guess its pretty much like any other prison...pants can't be too tight, neckline cant be too low, no denim, no underwire bras, no plain white or blue shirts, etc. however, you can now where shoes that don't have a strap in the back, as long as they arent rubber flip-flops (shower shoes). It really depends on the processing room staff as to whether theyll make u change or not (i've had to change 2-3 times, but im usually ok). The car line outside starts moving at 8:15 and they open the processing room doors at 8:30, i suggest getting there early because the lines are really long. as for the co's in the visiting room, i guess it really depends on what yard ur mans on, so i dont know what to tell u about them. from my experience they can be alright sometimes, and sometimes they'll terminate ur visit because of a kiss (that happened to me 2 weeks ago)...i think it just depends on their mood really...=) anyhow, i hope this helps!! let me know if u have anymore questions! feel free to PM me! bye!! =)

patcutie4 06-22-2006, 06:54 PM I check in as often as I can. This site is great for information and since we all can relate to having a loved one in prison, its good to just get some stuff off your chest. Welcome
TIA4TWO 06-25-2006, 09:31 PM I was planning on visiting my cousin on Tuesday, July 4. I was wondering if the lines are just as long on holidays as it is on Saturdays and Sundays? Do I still need to get there at dark thirty just to get in before count? This will be my first visit.
LJ
gothica 06-26-2006, 09:57 AM I Feel The Line On 4th July Will Not Be As Long As The Weekend, But People Do Go Up There, So Be Early.
TIA4TWO 06-26-2006, 05:08 PM Thanks for reply. How early is early in order to get in by 9 or 9:30 am
Thanks
LJ
gothica 06-26-2006, 05:29 PM you got to get to the line by 2am, if you want to be in with him before 10am
TIA4TWO 06-30-2006, 07:17 PM I would kill myself before i got in anybody's visiting line at 2am - and I am NOT suicidal!!!! that's rediculous. and then sit/sleep in my car for 6+ hours - oh no that woon't be happening. i'll get in when i get in.
Thanks for the info. :) you got to get to the line by 2am, if you want to be in with him before 10am
Whiteprincess 07-09-2006, 11:41 AM Could anyone out there give me any 411 on how visits run @ Calipatria State Prison? Also does anyone from thee Orange County visit anyone there that I can find out all that I need to know to see my man who's there????? I know that they are Sat and Sun from 8:30 to 3:30pm and real major Holidays at the same time. I live in San Diego and how do I post a thread?I would like to carpool with some one from San Diego to Calipatria. Go on the offical Home Page Of Calipatria State Prison and it should list the Inmate Locator on the right side of the page. Kathleen
gothica 07-10-2006, 01:13 PM visiting is not from 83am to 330pm, the line outside starts to move for number from 730am to 745am. processing area opens up between 815 and 820am, the hours of visiting end at 245pm.
Mrs Mouse 12-01-2006, 10:22 PM How many people are in line at 2:00am usually?
Sherriqtgrl 12-01-2006, 10:40 PM When I used to visit Calipatria, there were probably about 10 to 15 cars in front of me when I'd get there at 5 am on Saturdays. There were a few more on Sundays. People leave their cars there overnight, and then carpool the next morning to the line.
TheForgoten1 12-03-2006, 07:14 PM WE GET THERE AT 2AM AND THERE IS USUALLY LIKE 10 TO 15 CARS AND BY THE TIME WE GO IN ALOT OF PEOPLE CUT OR SO , SO WE END UP BEING THE 25 CAR OR SO SOME DAYS ARE WORSE THEN OTHERS
Mrs Mouse 12-20-2006, 01:29 AM Hey I dont know about all you other girls but I dont like to be all that far from a bathroom. Is there a bathroom even a portapotty on the parking lot grounds while we sleep in our cars or are we SOL? .......Helen
traviesita 12-26-2006, 04:36 PM there is a potty out side, which is very good. I was up there this weekend and it was good experience and we've been in a few prisons. The guards are respectful and the line, well what can I say if you got it like that where you can drive up at 7am and get in the front more power to you. I wont knock you for that. I slept in my car and had no problem
