Has anyone here had a female incarcerated at Mabel Bassett in Mcloud, OK? My daughter was transferred there this week. Haven't heard from her YET but saw her info pop up on DOC website this week, tranferring out of Lexington LARC. Anyway, does anyone know about mail there - can you mail anything besides a money for their books? Any magazine subscriptions, any books, crayons, colored pencils etc? IS there anyplace in DOC where you can send a care package like soaps, shampoo etc? Just dreaming. :D
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I had a friend in MB CC you can send a subscriptions for a paper and mags, money order for the books with there name and doc # on it and it may take a week or so for her to get her phone list approved But you can call and speak to her case manager just tell them her name and they will transfer you to him or her.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. Good to see I can now send some books or something like that. GREAT IDEA to call the case manager. I didn't realize that was an OK thing to do. THANKS AGAIN!!

contacting the case managers are sometimes a very hard thing to do, you can try it, but some have not much luck dealing with them.
you can mail in a money order to be put on their books, but you can not send "care packages" of soap etc, the facility provides that either through the canteen where the inmate purchases the items, or if the inmate has no family to put money on the books, then the facility provides basic needed items.
you can send magazines etc,,,but through the publishers directly or shipped directly by the bookstores etc. you can't send packages direct to your loved one.
to call or visit you must be on the inmates call and visit list...which can take up to a few weeks or longer sometimes to get done.
you can not visit until you are on that list for approval.
a reminder...you can not bring anything at all with you to your visit!
but you can write you loved one, but don't enclose anything in your letter except the money order for her account, or just little cards or poems or little notes...you can't send stamps or stamped envelopes etc, just send your letter and sometimes it takes up to 3 days or longer for them to receive it.
I do alot of volunteering at Mabel Bassitt and would be glad to talk to you further and answer any more questions that I can for you if you send me a private message....feel free to contact me anytime. I also have a letter ministry where I write many inmates around the country but I also contact a lot of the inmates at Mcloud so in your private message send me your loved one's name and doc # and I will be glad to contact them and encourage them any way I can. just reply by private message anytime thanks and God bless your family
