Hi. My husband reported to FMC Lexington on Monday. I have not heard from him or any employee of the facility. Is anyone familiar with FMC Lexington.I have the following questions and was hoping someone could help me:
1. Is it normal to go five days without hearing anything?
2. When can I expect a phone call?
3. If I am listed on the PSI can I visit now? If so, who do I talk to?
4. How long does it normally take to transfer to a camp?
Thank you for your help. I truly appreciate it.

Hi Mrs Hampton Welcome to PTO. My husband is also at Lexington. I don't remember how long it was before I heard from my husband but I know they have to go thur some processing when they first get there like filling out the phone list then waiting for it to be approved before they can call. Sometimes that takes a while, anywhere from a week or longer if . You can call there to see if you are on his visiting list. The number is 859-255-6812 If he was transferred from another facility that you were approved from you should be able to go anytime. As far as transferring to a camp I am really not sure . If I can help ya with anything you can PM me

Mrs. Hampton, My son will report on Jan. 3 to FMC Lexington. I have found out many things about the place, but do not know how long before you can expect a call. I am wondering the same thing. I am not as afraid as I was initially because of all of the wonderful information that I have received from so many people here on PTO. Visitation is Monday, Thursday, Friday, 1-8 p.m. and Sat. and Sun. and Holidays, 8a.m. to 3 p.m. You can only send him money, letters and cards, pictures, pages from a book but not the book itself, and books sent directly from a publisher like Barns and Noble. When you visit, you cannot give him anything and he cannot give you anything to take home. You cannot send him stamps, you cannot put tape on anything in a letter, or send him any books. You are allowed to take in money for vending machines, car keys without the remote control, and possibly purse items in a clear make-up bag. I was told to go a couple of hours early to stand in line. You should not wear khaki clothing, midrift blouses which show your tummy, see-through clothing, sexy outfits, sleeveless blouses, and your clothes must be below your knee. They are issued an uncomfortable polyester outfit upon arrival and must buy sweats, etc. if they have the money. I was told that he will need a couple of hundred dollars to buy all that he needs in the beginning. The commessary sounds like a grocery store where he can buy a radio, food, snacks, clothing like sweat pants, shirts, socks, etc. I was told that he should not tell anyone why her is there or how long he is in for. I also was told that it is a relatively okay place considering the options, that is. He will be safe as far as I can tell. He should mind his own business and not be a loner or a snitch. It sounds like those types have the most trouble. Maybe my son and your hubby will become friends, who knows. My son is in for a non-violent offense which makes no sense to us at all. It appears that the punishments do not fit the crimes these days. There is supposed to be a big screen for all to see which lists inmates, where they are housed, and the amount of money in their account. This does not make sense, but that is what I was told it would be like. They told me that he should not keep any more than $200 or so in his account or some may give him trouble. We are going to try to see if our son can take his Bible. He is going to go in with it in a self-addressed stamped envelope so they can send it back home if they won't let him keep it. It is soft-bound, so maybe he can have it. He is allowed a religious medallion, like a cross. I hope this helps. Maybe I can think of other things later. Sharon

I do not believe there is a screen that they can see how much money they have on them. They have a number to call and they punch in there id number to hear how many minutes they have left on the phone and how much money is in their account. All money is sent to a place in Iowa now. They cannot recieve any money at Lexington. If you send money orders there they will send them back to you with the Iowa address.
Sorry to sound like the voice of doom, but getting to a camp doesn't always happen. My husband did ten full years and NEVER got to a camp; he was considered "violent" based only one the amout of drugs we had. I meant many people (I did time too) that never made a camp because of things like too much world wide travel, being married to a non USA person, or poor health. If there's a health issue staying at a medical facility might be the only place he goes. Camps are not equipped to deal with anything other than the most basic of health issues and they do NOT want the expense of taking you out to get help.
