My boyfriend was just moved to MCAC the other day. Can you tell me anything about the place. When I called the person answering the phone couldn't give me any information.

I read your comment, and i was wondering if you can give me some insight on this facility? I just found out that my son is at mcac, and i know now that it is a supermax prison, but my ? Is how or what does an inmate have to do to get to a supermax facility on a three year sentence. I am very green to all of this, and just need some understanding. If you can fill me in on some info, it would be greatly appreicated.

Supermax is supposed to be one of the most secure facilities. While you have assholes in every bunch I found those at supermax to be a little more polite and have less attiutde then the western maryland area or ECI.
The facility is designed to be very restrictive. The isolation either makes a man much stronger or breaks him.
You can be sent there for many reasons assaulting a CO, stabbing another inmate. But DOC can place inmates where they want so some are placed there because DOC feels they have influence or perceives them to be a threat.

my husband was transferred from MTC to MCAC earlier this week waiting for an investigation. he had a finger cut off in a saw while working last week. the other morning c.o. woke him up in the middle of the night to go get a new bandage but he didnt want one and said no. he had to get up in the morning for work again and wanted sleep instead. the c.o. started hitting him, threw him on the ground, stepped on his injured hand and locked him up. now he's at mcac waiting to find out what is going to happen next. he was up for parole this month too. so i guess thats over with. does anyone have experience with any of this or knows what the process is now?

My son has been transfered here after only a week in the Eastern correctional facility near Ocean city MD.
We have no idea why he would be transfered yet again so quickly. this hi his third p lace in a month. any and all information about this place, why it is call ADJUSTMENT?? Doesn't everyone there need an "Adjustment'? that's why they ended up in jail in the first place.

We even sent him a Money order at the other place for the commissary, is that just gone now or will they return it to us?

There are many reasons he could have been moved. It could be because there was a fight and he was moved to locked down facility. There's no way to know until you hear from him. He should be able to write.

Additionally, any money you sent to the other facility will follow him to where is is at now.

ETA: MCAC is super-max. It's a prison within a prison. Locked down 22-23 hours a day, no contact visits, single cells.

MCAC is no longer a supermax they changed the status 2 months ago to a Max.

They had my Baby in Eastern Shore area... Now, they have him @ Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center. I live in NY and travel to visit. Any suggestions on someplace to put my personal items that are not allowed in the facility? I won't be driving so I can't leave them in my car, and I can not travel to another state w/o my cell phone. Any suggestions would help. When I visited him @ the other location, it was so far, I had to get a hotel. So... my property was not an issue at that time.
