My fiancee is in a federal camp when he is released we want to go to Hawaii to get married but he will be on probation for 3 years. Can anyone tell me if traveling is allowed or do we need to change our plans? Also I have since moved from the county we lived in when he was put in will that have any effect in his probation as well.
Thanks and I really love this site and have missed everyone :p .

There is a 60 day travel restriction once you are released to supervised release. After that you must give the probation officer 2 weeks notice and fill out a travel pass before you can travel. I have had no problem with my probation officer.

There should be no problem concerning your living in a different county now. I am getting ready to move in the next few months, possibly to a different county, and my probation officer said to just let her know.

I hope this helps some!

A 60 day "travel restriction" is NOT a standard condition. Two weeks notice to travel is NOT a standard condition.

A travel permit is required to leave the district, unless blanket permission is granted to a certain destination. If you change your residence - in the same district - you must notify your probation officer.

A sixty day travel restriction IS the norm in my district. It is also a requirement in my district to give 2 weeks notice before travel.

In my bf's district, he got permission from his PO about a week ahead of time; this was about 60 days after he got out, but I don't know that he was complying with a 60-day rule or not; it was just that then was the time we planned our trip.

I think probation officers invent some regulations. I was told I would have to wait 6 months before I could travel, but when I argued a little bit, the probation office finally relented and gave permission when I was about 2 months into my probation.

I am curious as to what they actually can impose by law if push comes to shove though.

My PO asks for as much time as possible but at least two weeks for overnight travel anywhere. but he has given my permission to travel short of the 2 weeks that he requested. I dont know if it is a regulation, but two weeks notice appears reasonable particularly if it is flexible depending upon the cirmcumstances. I have had no difficulty traveling.

I was wondering about the travelling thing...My Sweetie gets home in April 05 and we are planning a trip to visit my Grandma around Sept 05...I was curious to know if he would have a problem going with me. I know I'll have to talk to his PO for a definite ruling...but I'm glad to hear that most people can travel after 60 days...We are only going for 1 week and we will give his PO adequate notice...
