TO: INMATES, VISITORS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS
RE: CHANGES IN INMATE VISITING SCHEDULE: NEW VISITING HOURS
The California Department of Corrections is implementing mandated budget reductions due to the current budget crisis. The inmate visiting program is one area that will be affected.
State prisons will reduce visiting programs to Saturdays, Sundays, and designated holidays only, with the exception of San Quentin. Given San Quentin's need to provide legal visits, staffing will also be available to provide additional non-legal visiting and remain within our budget authority.
Visiting can be scheduled as indicated on the attached document. Visiting slots and hours are available Thursday through Sunday, as well as designated holidays for condemned inmates. Condemned inmates may schedule two (2) visits per week. Mainline inmates may visit Friday through Sunday, as well as designated holidays.
Attached for your information is a visiting schedule that is equitable, provides access for legal visits, and meets required budget constraints. This schedule will take effect on Monday, February 16, 2004.
You will be informed of future changes to the attached schedule if applicable. In the meantime, if you have any questions or require additional information on this matter, please speak with Visiting Department staff.
