My fiance is getting ready to be transported to the Mabel Basset facility. Does anyone have any information that may be helpful for me i.e. vistation, security level.

Additionally, what is the probability of an inmate being released prior to there parole hearing, or having a parole date moved up? Are there any programs available to retrieve an early release do to my fiance being a meth addict. Is there a program available where he is released from prison contigant upon in patient drug rehabilitation treatment?

Thank you all again in advance.

Amy is your fiancee a female? I just assumed it was a male. Mabel Basset is a maximum facility for women. I don't have any information on that place such as visiting, etc. I know a couple of people that have been there but I don't see them anymore.
About having the parole moved up and an early release. There are a lot of things considered into that happening. The way I always look at life is it is 50/50. I may be wrong for looking at life like this but that is the way I look at it. There are many programs in DOC and that do give you extra days off for completing the programs. I know there are program for people released on parole that are released with the stipulation of Substance Abuse Training (I think it is training??). It is abbreviated SAT. I don't know of any program for release contingent on in-patient drug rehab. Maybe some one else will know.

Ok Mable Basset does have a contract to house male inmates Neysa unfortunately they are not held at the actual Mable Basset facility they are held on the 10th floor of the Oklahoma County Jail. They are just labled as being at Mable Basset. I know this personally my fiancee was listed as MB and he spent over a year at the conuty as that. You will not be able to have contact visits, you can take them nothing, Except money for there books, You can mail them in paper, stamps, envelopes, and magazines as long as it is below a certain number of items and the magazines can have absolutely no nudity in them. They are only allowed 5 pictures to be sent in period. You visit for 15-30 minutes once every 7 days. You do not have to go through the approval process while they are there but you will have to call on a certain day to set up a visit for that week you can call visitation at OKC jail and they can give you the specifics. The only program they had when Terry was there for extra good days was the GED program.

Thank you all for your advice. I'm new at this, and find that more and more questions tend to surface daily. I'm so thankful to have found this website and you guys to assist me during this period. Man, is this difficult to go through day after day.

I have been dealing with the system for about 14 years now. And boy have things changed a lot. I guess I should only reply to things that I am contending with right now with Stephen at Muskogee Community. :( Sorry All. :(

Amy, it is possible to have his parole date moved up. I have a friend who did it. It takes letters written to the parole board members. If even one of the members approves an earlier parole date, he will get one. If he is a violent offender, he will not get a personal appearance the first time, only a jacket review. If that is approved then he will be assigned a personal appearance after that.
Elsewhere in this forum is more information about how to get early parole. Look at the threads. I have a friend who was successful in getting an early parole date for her boyfriend. p.m. me if you wish, and I will get more information for you. (her boyfriend was unable to get parole, unfortunately, so she is trying again). As for getting out to go to rehab, sometimes some of the inmates are able to go to inpatient rehab as part of their program before they are released. Drug Recovery Inc. is one of them in OKC. My son was there a couple of years ago. He may be given SAT Substance Abuse Treatment as a stipulation of his parole which is determined by his parole officer. If it is still less than a year since he has been sentenced, the judge still has jurisdiction over his case, and may do a judicial review. The judge could change the sentence during the judicial review to reflect his need for drug treatment. There are very few drug treatment programs in the DOC itself, but one of them is in Alva- it is a boot camp and drug treatment program. It is very grueling during the boot camp, and last year somebody died there in the heat. Also the amount of time a person serves is sometimes longer than the sentence because it takes so long to get through the levels. I hope this helps. Okie

Neysa Dont feel bad I am sorry if I came across that way it wasnt my intention and you do have alot of wonderful advice and support. I too was thrown when they listed Terry as MB I was under the inpression it was a all female facility too. At the actually site it is only females but to add bed space to DOC they are also in charge of the males housed as DOC at OK County Jail. When you call on medical or anything like that on the guys listed as MB you have to call the MB facility not county. But on the mail, visits, and such you call the county.

FORGIVE ME, the doctors have me on steriods and the first few days were really high doses and seems like I was being a B*tch on wheels without even knowing it according to my friends and family. Thankfully I finished the dose pack and don't have to worry about that anymore.
