Oscar714 08-29-2004, 11:47 PM Francis ~ I am not sure if you have a treatment center in mind already....or if you are looking for one......
but, the one that I will reccomend among the others that are in the southern California area..... is Teen Challenge. (It is called that, but the facility I am talking about is for men over the age of 18) It is located in Santa Ana. The commitment is for 1 year to the program. The program is Christian based. The men do work part time within the facility, for example, some might have a job as a mechanic, etc. As far as visits and phone privlages, to what I remember, it is 2 phone calls a week and there is a family day on the weekends when pre approved visitors may spend the day with you.
This program has a success rate of 86%!!!!!!!!!!! If you know any other statistics, you know this one is unbelievaby amazing! The men entering this program have to be very serious about changing their lives, it is not a "half way house" or court ordered, it is a choice to be there.
Sound interesting? Want to know more?
Just PM me, and I will further answer any more questions you may have.

francis 08-30-2004, 02:58 AM oscar, thank you!!!! amazing statistics!!!
when i wrote this thread my man was being preleased to a drug treatment facility as a prisoner...i wondered about these programs...
he just paroled, and is staying in the facility for aftercare...it is in los angeles...real strict program..however, teen challenge sounds stricter=} especiallyy a year commitment..
so far he is doing very well, but, i find it hard, i keep expecting him to relapse....just waiting for the other shoe to drop.....i am trying to detach with love..the whole al-anon thing.but, my goodness...this is really challenging, painful...and i don't know...just rough!!!
i am so powerless it drives me crz!!
hope your husband and you are doing well!!!
much peace

spyda 08-30-2004, 09:19 AM Hey francis, where have I been??? :D I have really missed alot!
Oscar714 08-30-2004, 10:10 AM I didn't even realize yesterday when I responded to your post that you had written it months ago......... I thought it was brand new cause it was on the front page......oh well.
I am glad to hear you and yours are doing well. It is good you are going to al anon. I liked going to meetings at NA with my husband, I really got to SEE with my own eyes him trying. It will always be nerve racking waiting and praying that he does not relapse......when my husband would be home even 10 minutes late from work I really started to panic.... and go bananas!! NO WAY TO LIVE!!!! He will be parolled by the end of November and is CHOOSING to enter into Teen Challenge, HE is ready to deal with this 100% now. ( He just turned 23, and has had an addiction to hard drugs for 10 years!!!) I am really proud of him, and I will feel a lot more at ease because in this program they do not go anywhere on their own, they are always together! That is great, cuts down the temptations for sure!
Anyways, I really believe that it is God that will get these men through. Our prayers will lift them up and keep us right in our own lives instead of being basket cases.
Great to see you supporting him!
God bless,
Oscar

Oscar714 08-31-2004, 11:09 AM I have not heard of Bridge back before, I am assuming that is where your man is ? Was it a court ordered facility? I know of a few in Southern California, but most, actully all except for Teen Challenge were more like half way houses than recovery/treatment centers which is what we are wanting. This will be the best shot, our all. I would have no idea what the heck else to do if this does not work. This is not the first attempt by any means, and it was the worst by far. When we did this before, and tried "on our own" to live a clean life, we went to NA meetings, and other court appointed programs, ( prop 36 ) but it was obviously to no avail. Within 2 months he went back out. And yes, nerve racking as can be!!!!!!!! It is really important to keep yourself calm throughout the journey of his recovery, that advice I for sure will give. I don't know your situation obviously, but most people in recovery can not go back to even having "just one beer" because "one is too many and a thousand is never enough". Basically, they end up right back where they were in no time. I encourage you to support a no tolerance for drugs and alcohol. I pray that this man of yours (and mine) does transform into the picture of health and that you are not waiting around for nothing.
Take care Francis, and God bless,
:wave:Oscar
