Jeremy is due to be released in August. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the halfway houses. He is going to be going to one. Do they help with finding a job? What exactly happens at a half way house? Anyone that knows anything I apperciate the help!

Hi Crystal, I asked the same question my self and got a few answers but if you e-mail Donna Hamn at middlegroundprisonreform@msn.com she told me when my honey gets out that she knows of some places that take them cause they don't really have half/way houses per say hear. My friend was put in a half way house for awhile. I don't know exactly what goes on there since I don't really go into detail with him about it but I know some stuff. As far as the job thing goes it was pretty much up to him to find a job on his own but I know they had a idea on some places that were hiring. He had to pay rent weekly which inclued food and boarding I guess you could call it. They have curfew everynight and he couldn't sleep somewhere else until he had been there six months I think it was and his p.o. had to approve it. Basically he didn't get a choice as to what one he went to his p.o. just found him one with room for him. The halfway house was in Mesa. In the halfway house there was a no physical conduct rule and so houses didn't even allow female visitors into the house. Also some houses allow cell phones some don't there's a phone to use but they are timed on it and can only talk for so long. I hope this helps somewhat!! From what I know from him all half way houses and there rules are different.

I am also looking for information, but more specifically for a drug rehabilitation/half way house in Arizona.
I e-mailed Recovery Homes, Inc. and Middleground Prison Reform, Inc. asking them these specific questions. If I get a response from either of them, I will post it.
