Santiam Correctional Facility added visiting hours to Friday evenings, 6p.m. to 8p.m. The web site is just not up to date.
The guy I have reached at Information Control Center at Santiam is definitely not friendly. He sounds like I am totally wasting his time asking questions. Oh well, he's probably just not a very happy guy.
Does anyone out there have someone at Santiam Correctional?
Thank you for the update!!

I have been there on a friday... my guy is in there.
Fridays are the most crowded visit. Call to check on the time for sure and then be outside the gate to line up at least 35 minutes before that. 45 if you can. They are the most crowded and least desirable visits. yuck. Saturday and Sunday - the early visits - are the best ones. esp saturday. they fill up, but not like the friday nites.
Good luck. Do not wear any blue denim, check the dress code, and follow it, they dont care if you have travelled 1200 miles, they will turn you away - if you arent with the dress code.
good luck all.

Dawn, congrat's. It must be nice, he is definately going to be alot closer for the visits. I am happy for you. But I'll let someone else answer about Santiam. I have never been there to visit, and know nothing about it. Just wanted to be sure and say how happy I was for you. G

Hey Dawn
That is great news and I can't wait to hear the details tonight. Although I don't know about Santiam except that it is minimum; I bet it will lead to an AIP program.:)

My sweetheart is currently at Santiam...hoping to get into the bootcamp in North Bend when the next group goes over.
Hopefully that will all work out and he will be home sooner than August of 2010.
Peace to all

My husband was just transferred to Santiam Correctional Institution yesterday - I am going to stop there next weekend for a visit on my way back from Portland. Can someone please let me know what to expect. He spent the last two years at TRCI in Umatilla and I was just getting use to that place and they moved him.
So any information that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
