Does anyone have someone currently or recently at Columbia River Correctional Facility? I'd be so appreciative if you'd share your insights and experiences in dealing with CRCF, the staff, programs. Just transferred today... in need of information.
Sure do have someone there. Boring, boring, boring!!! There are work crews that guys can get on which is good. The yard is small, weight equipment okay, not great; they have pickle ball (sp?). It takes forever and a year to get a response to kytes and oftentimes a person has to kyte more than one person to get a response. Movies every night I think, no cable hookups though that has been approved for sometime now I'm told. Inmates do their own laundry. The staff is great when visiting. The thing I found most strange at my first visit (minimum) was that you could get up and leave anytime you wanted -- did not have to be escorted out. In fact, I thought I was supposed to leave the way I came in so I could get my stuff out of the locker. Well, I ended up wandering the hallways, passing guards who didn't pay any attention, and inmates who did pay attention, looking for the little office door we came in through. P.S. You're supposed to leave through the front doors and then you can access the locker room via the outside entrance -- oh silly me. Oh yeah, the have family night visiting on Thursday (that's for if you have children), 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Friday night visiting 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday visiting, afternoon session 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. I believe and then the 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. visit time. Children can attend all visiting times. Food -- well I won't go there. All in all, its okay I guess -- its prison. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with and maybe I'll see you around.

What is family night visiting exactly...what makes it any different than regular visiting?
