View Full Version : 5 Months, no news! Boot Camp or Parole?!
pixiespeedfiend 05-06-2004, 06:52 PM  five months, and no news!! just a whole bunch of confusion. I'm very worried because I emailed the parole board. They said that Brian's case was *still* under review, and that I would know the decision in 30 days. But I also found out that Brian had a boot camp number. So what if he goes to boot camp before that 30 days gets here, and he doesnt get paroled!? Because I heard you can't get paroled from boot camp. I wont get to talk to him or see him for at least 3 months!! I can't stand knowing nothing any longer. This is driving me crazy. Brian didn't even do anything wrong! He just *didn't* take a drug test. So he's in jail for a YEAR! He doesnt deserve this... but he really doesnt deserve not knowing anything any longer. Can anyone help me, please?! :(
Thanks so much
PS: Brian is in Floyd County Jail. He is expected to be transfered... to where? and when? who knows.... I sure wish I did...
pixiespeedfiend 05-08-2004, 11:53 PM please please please please somebody anybody... !!! :(
cheryl 05-10-2004, 05:48 PM I 'm not sure what kind of sentencing or where your at. My son was "recommeded a bootcamp" by the judge...so we waited then it was to late to appeal. And found out later due to the serious crime he was never eligable; but they never told us that!!! So appeal if you can! My son was sentenced to Youthful Offenders Prison in FL. The sentencing for Youthful Offenders is a 6 year sentence. He was in 2 out and is going to court for a violation tommorow. I know you have very limited contact with them while they are in a boot camp. Keep trying, find out if they have a chaplin or sometimes a church group close to the facility goes in to help out. Try any avenue for information you can. Is he juvenille or adult? cl
pixiespeedfiend 05-12-2004, 05:43 PM undefinedundefinedundefined :( he signed a waiver so i dont think he can appeal : (

Pauley 06-10-2004, 07:32 AM My boyfriend had a boot camp number too. They sent him to boot camp but found out he was not eligible, so they sent him up the hill to the prison. (The boot camp number was a mistake because they knew this before he was sent.)
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but boot camp is lesser time. If that is so, you may be happy he received that. If not, and he is still in the county jail and has not entered the "system" and gone through diagnostics, the "process" hasn't even began.
1dayatatime 06-10-2004, 09:13 AM From what I know boot camp is like up to 6 months. In Georgia, according to the laws i know, IF you refuse a drug screen that equals failing it. They way the law looks at it is if you refused then if must be positive. Strongernow knows more about boot camp so maybe she will be in soon. Bit if the get a bc number it doesnt mean thats definately were they are going. I believe her fiance got a bc numbe but went to prison. Hold on for one heck of a waiting game when dealing with the doc.

strongernow 06-10-2004, 11:07 AM I don't actually know all that much about boot camp.
My fiance was told in the beginning of his diagnostics that he would be sent to boot camp but when they cleared up some paperwork issues we had with his release date, they determine he was not eligible and sent him to prison instead.
Usually after diagnostics, which takes at least 6 weeks, they are sent to boot camp for 3-6 months depending on the severity of their crime. My fiance's good friend had his 6 weeks of diagnostics at Baldwin and then served 3 months at Hays Inmate Boot Camp. You are correct, there is no parole from boot camp, you are released after you complete your time at the camp. But it may be positive for you since he might only have to serve 3-6 months at camp where as his time at prison could be longer before he is eligible for parole. You will not hear anything within 30 days regarding a parole decision. Parole investigations/reviews are normally between 6-8 months after incarceration as stated by the Parole Board on their website and I have been told this in emails when I contacted the board myself. You may hear something after the investigation is complete within 30 days, but the investigation could not possibly be completed in such a short time because there are several things looked into when the do the investigation which just takes time.
Has he actually been through diagnostics/classification yet? If he received a BC # it is definitely possible he will be sent to boot camp, hence the BC. EF #s are issued for prison assignment. I noticed you said he was still in county jail. From my understanding, all inmates, whether boot camp or prison assignments, do have to complete diagnostics.
Jaredsbaby 10-26-2005, 12:15 PM Strongernow my boyfriend is being moved from Jackson to Hays Boot camp tomorrow. Can you tell me anything about the boot camp? He was sentenced 3 years and has already served 7 months. The most he will serve at the boot camp is 6 months and then he is released? Is the boot camp rougher than the acutal prison? How are the visits at Hays boot camp? If you can answer any of these questions that would be great, he is very worried about getting placed and I am too. We have heard horrible things about Hays State Prison.
MelindaWiggins 10-26-2005, 06:18 PM My husband started off in boot camp, did 90 days before the parole board decided that he needed to do more time, even though he has already done 8 months, this was about a month ago, he got sent to Wheeler , however he was at West Ga Boot Camp. He wasnt sent on bad reasons, he was poster child of good according to counselor. But hey thats the sytem...neways, the boot camp is NO visitation, NO phone calls, and NO tv, the store call is slim to none, i know my husband said it was REALLY tough, and that if it wasnt for me he would have signed out when he got there. The place is no joke. Now he is in a private prison, says it feels like a vacation. Hope that helps, get ready for a wild ride. And be prepared to WRITE letters.
