You cannot see this prison coming or going...it is completely hidden behind a row of trees and yet I haven't figured out where the land starts it's downward spell (the road to and from the gates is level) this place HAS to be further down than its surrounding area.

It's in the middle of the desert...hot as hades in the summer and really not that much better into the fall...I have yet to go during the winter.

The guards are...how shall I say...indifferent. Some are great, some are just plain rude.

The visiting area I go to is a mimic of the other 3 yards, a small outdoor patio with about 12-15 tables, an inside area with capacity of 120 (and if number 121 comes along, first one in is the first one out).

The vending machines range from .75 to 5.00 for food, snacks and drinks (most drinks are 1.25 each), the food is anything from m&m's to Hot wings and riblets. They actually have some pretty decent salads too...stay away from the fruit salads, they attract white flies and they're impossible to get rid of.

The mail system there is awkward, they take all their outgoing mail 300 miles away to San Bernardino and mail it from there...why I'm still trying to figure out. I can count on mail getting to me at least a week later...sometimes longer. Standard rules apply, no nudity (anymore), no bubble envelopes, no envelopes with clasps...etc.

The picture here shows all the yards, they form semicircles, the one closest to the bottom is A, next B, middle is the medical building (not the hospital (E Yard), further away are C and D. All yards are split by visiting centers and chow hall.
Store is in each yard, only a small window that you walk up to and request your belongings from.

There are some family visiting cabins that are not in the picture. From what I can tell, they're relatively nice.

In regards to accepting calls from Centinela, you must contact Evercom/CBS. They handle all billing for the calls and if you do not have pacific bell for your carrier, you must prepay.

Correction...

E Yard is NOT the hospital...

No, I don't believe that's true. My husband got transferred to Centinela (C-yard) in the beginning of July and I have been receiving calls from him since the 3rd week in August. I did not have to contact anyone before I started receiving calls from him and I have COX, not Pacific Bell as my phone carrier. When he calls, it says that the call is from MCI, like all inmate calls are from (or so I thought). It did take A WHILE from the day he got transferred until he was able to call me (he had to get classified first). In regards to letters, I would say that the mail is pretty slow to get to him. When he sends me a letter, I get it in about 3-4 days and I live in San Diego. When I send him a letter, it takes around 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer, for my husband to receive it. For example, I delivered our son on 8/15, sent his newborn pictures out to my husband on 8/16, and my husband did not receive them until the beginning of the second week of September. I do believe this is ridiculous because when my husband was at Donovan, he would get my letters and pictures within 1 week from when I sent them out. I can't say the same about the inmate packages (so far). I have read posts on here where they say that it takes 2-3 months for their sons, boyfriends, husbands, etc. to receive their packages but I just finished ordering a package for my husband on 9/21, it was shipped out on 9/22, and my husband received it the very next week (Thank God). I'm not sure what yard your man is on but as for the C-yard, my husband hates it because the yard used to be for Level 4 inmates (max security). I'm not sure about visiting yet because I just found out that I was denied visitation until I pay an old traffic ticket (yes, denied for a traffic ticket...) but hopefully next month I'll know how it is.

My Boyfriend Oscar Sains is there but he goes by Max and he's from Orange County. I don't know what yard he's in but I know it's maximun security. I haven't been able to speak to him and I miss him very much. I'm attaching my email. If some one contacts him I can give them a hook up of one of my friends. Please tell him to email me. Only some one with information contact me.

My son is being sent to Centinela... He is young, 1st offense. Since his sentencing(he did not fight it)
We have never received a phone call...
His letters are not on the paper we sent??
I read something about Prisoner packages? What are they? I was told 10 sheets od paper, envelopes and stamps 10 pictures. So, whhat are packages,
Will his money transfer from Donovan with him?
Where does someone find out about these things?
My son told me at George Bailey (last month) that he did not want to me to see him there.
If he does not send me the forms, then.....will I not be able to see him??
Any information or advice would be so appreciated

Welcome Methemom, my son is at Centinela too. Make sure not to send "packages" until he's classified. He can only receive regular mail until then. Hope he sends you a visiting form soon, the process to get approved can take a while and sometimes they lose your application.

Good luck and ask away, we'll all help if we can.
