View Full Version : looking for a parole lawyer in GA Jennifer_04 05-06-2004, 01:07 PM We need a parole lawyer in Georgia. Any of you ladies know any "good" ones? Thanks:) ~BabyG~ 05-06-2004, 01:17 PM I live in GA! What county are you in? Jennifer_04 05-06-2004, 01:28 PM I'm in Texas......he's at Baldwin S.P. so........ lilivoryangel 05-06-2004, 04:26 PM I am learning about this, but I have been told such lawyers are a waste of time and money in GA and can actually hurt someone's chance of parole. I had one lined up and backed out. I have been told by other lawyers they really aren't necessary in GA and it is really just a money making thing. Anyone else know anything? Jennifer_04 05-06-2004, 05:02 PM Thanks for the input,i'm not sure about getting a lawyer either....after all his parents spent $20,000 on the stupid lawyer that couldn't get it down from 6years.....on a first offense! Anyway.....Kurt seems to really want one.....he thinks he needs one because he wants to be paroled back here to Texas and without one he would have to wait 4-6 months for all the paper work and all that. Any advice? Thanks again! lilivoryangel 05-06-2004, 05:15 PM Our situations sound similar! We also spent over $20,000 on his sorry lawyer. My husband is a first offender with a six year sentence too! We still don't have a grid sheet so we really don't know when he'll come home. At first he thought he needed a parole lawyer too. But after a few months and a little research we were convinced it wouldn't be worth the money. It isn't like they can guarantee anything. Now if they could do that I would pay whatever the price! Best of luck with whatever you guys decide to do, but there are a lot of lawyers here who will gladly take your money but I wouldn't expect they will have a lot of pull with this parole board. Especially at this time. Check out the Atlanta Journal Constitution web site to read up on what is going on with the parole board here right now. It is a mess and they are a total joke! Jennifer_04 05-06-2004, 06:38 PM yeah I've read about what's going on with the parole board..... I think I remember Kurt telling me that there are some lawyers that practically do guarantee parole. Something like they have some pull with the board and some possible former government employees or something. I'll have to ask him again about that. But you know they hear all kinds of bs from other inmates that think they know something! I personally don't believe any lawyer can guarantee ANYTHING except a fat bill!! Oh well, we just put it in God's hands and trust! I'll do some more reseach on these lawyers. I have read on the PAP website that you don't need a lawyer........ Thanks for all your help and advice! God bless! LORNA 05-07-2004, 06:34 PM Can't help you Jennifer, but wishing you luck! Jennifer_04 05-10-2004, 06:08 PM I talked to a lawyer in Atlanta today, he sounded pretty smart. He told me what he does in these parole cases. With Kurts charge.....it'll cost $10,000 or maybe even more! His name is Jake Arbes. Anyone ever heard of him? no*pain 05-16-2004, 02:46 AM Hey there!!! I have heard of Jake Arbes but he work by his self. He is high and he's hard to get incontact with once he got your money. I have call him also and had him to do one of my case he's not that good. He talk a good talk but it don't show. He charge $6,000 and up just about for any case. He say one price but then it go to another price. Call some more LAWYERS Please  Jennifer_04 05-16-2004, 08:34 PM Hey thanks alot for the info!!! Yeah he sure did talk a good talk....and he talk ALOT!! LOL thanks again! starlight 05-18-2004, 12:14 PM My son is at jackson Diag. and was advised to get Mike McIntyre. He cost around $10,000 but he's suppose to be good that's all he does is deal with the parole board. If anybody has used him or knows of him let me know too!!!!!! Kandee 05-21-2004, 10:46 AM I don't know of any parole lawyers but I will keep my ears and eyes open I do know some good criminal attorneys I will ask them and post. Jennifer_04 05-21-2004, 01:32 PM thanks Kandee freefree 09-28-2004, 06:18 PM  Wow, you all have helped me a lot, I just got off the phone with Jake Arbes about 30 mins ago. He was talking faster than I could write. He was all about his education and his creditials and all that. He seems to be a really busy person also. We were referred to him by Atty Brian Steel, who only handles criminal law. My boyfriend wants out and he wants us to do all we can. He's got 3 yrs to TPM or 4 max. I'm ready to wait it out, but after doing 5 years and knowing your co-defendants may get out makes him feel like he should get out too. I'm just going to foward all Mr. Arbes information, along with you all's thread to my boyfriend and let him forward it on to his family (they are the ones that would be paying the lawyer in the first place.) Also since he hasen't done 90% yet then I think it would be a waste of money. Maybe the lawyer would be more valuable when he gets to his TPM? Does anyone know how good a persons chances are (all things considered) on getting out on their TPM? I think that he would be heart broken if he gets denied on his TPM. As for me I'm going into this looking at worst case scenario which is june 2008. What to ya'll think? SASSIE21898 09-28-2004, 07:41 PM I Have A Question.....when Do You Start Looking For A Parole Lawyer? Before Tpm, After Tpm, Or Around The Time Of The Tpm? What Can A Parole Lawyer Do For Our Guys? Sorry I Have Never Heard Of This And Would Like To Know More. Thanks lilivoryangel 09-28-2004, 08:13 PM yesterday I had an attorney call me who is running for DA and agreed to write the PB for us since I am working on his campaign so I guess we will have at least this much done by a lawyer since it won't cost me anything but aliitle time. I guess I will know if it does any good. swtmel 09-30-2004, 04:01 PM I have heard of McIntyre..from everything I hear he is good. I will do a little research on this for you when I am at work tomorrow (I work for a defense atty) and see what I come up with. |
