I am a fairly recent transplant from the Seattle area, that may or may not be a good thing to admit!!

One of the things I love about the Portland area is how easy it is to get someplace. I still study maps to get from point A to point B, and what I would expect to take 45 minutes, takes only 20 minutes!!

And I love the coast! So much better than Washingtons!!

And I love the fact that I can head in any direction and be in rural America!! So beautiful!! The Mt. Angel area is one of my favorites.

What are your favorite places. Maybe I will head on over there on a free weekend!!

I love all of the events on the Waterfront - the Portland Blues Festival on 4th of July Weekend, the Rose Parade and Festival. I love walking on the waterfront at lunch and grabbing a sandwhich by the fountain. I love hanging out in the Pearl District and looking at all of the funky shops. I love that you can drive to the mountains, coast, valley, within 45 minutes. There is a great restaraunt called Al Amir that has belly dancers and Lebonese food that is terrific. You can get the best foot long coney dog in the world at Roake's HotDog stand. I love to get a room at the Portland Airport Embassy suites facing the runway and sit with my kids to watch the planes take off. I love the presidential suite at the Marriott hotel in downtown Portland - it's a great place for a girls weekend. I could go on and on....

I love everything about Oregon!!! I grew up here, moved to Atlanta for seven years, and recently came "home."

I love the mountains, the beaches and especially the Gorge. Multnomah Falls is beautiful and I love to hike up there. My daughter and I love to camp at Silver Falls and Fort Stevens. Detroit Lake is awesome!!! The Umpqua Valley/Forest is so pretty, too. It's been years since I've been down to Winston for the Wildlife Safari, but I want to take my daughter there this year. That reminds me of the Zoo... we LOVE the zoo!

Mount Hood is one of my favorites... there's something to do there every season. I can't wait to take my daughter on a trail ride this summer.

And why am I sitting here on such a beautiful day... I should be at the Waterfront!! LOL

Roakes is in Oregon City - on McGloughlin (not sure if I spelled that right) it's a little tiny hole in the wall that has been there since the 50's. It's a little white building with black and red trim. I have tried different coney dogs all over the US and these are the best! Their fries are even better. When I was pregnant and lived in Salem, I'd get cravings for them and drive up just to have a foot long. I'm pretty tiny - 5' 4" and 112 pounds but I can put down 2 foot long hot dogs they are so yummy! Let me know if you get to try one. Hey we should all get together for a hot dog night :)

I'm down for a hot dog night!!! YUM! I haven't eaten there in a while. Did you find it yet, JJT? It's on 99E (McLoughlin) just north of Gladstone. Mmm-mmm good!

Nawww... I think Travsgirl and tinkerpoo need to show me where it is at!!!

Maybe we should make a plan for some evening next week????

I love Oregon's Beauty!!! everything from the water to the trees to the people.. it's just beautiful.. the diversity is something I have never seen before..

too bad I'm moving soon.. hehe.. but I will be back... I'm only going up north.. ;)
