Does anyone know if they are planning to close the libraries at the institutions that have them? D called Sunday and said that they were told all the librarians were given pink slips and that the inmates would no longer have library access as they are closing them. Just wanted to know if anyone else had heard this. D wasn't really happy about that since he is an avid reader and prefers that over tv watching, not to mention the fact that he said he won't have access to the law books as well.

I hope this is not true!! Many men don't have their own TV and some facilities don't have a day room, like Lawrence. This would be very wrong. Let's get more info. This might be a good test of emails vs letters having an impact!

I've not heard of that but what's wrong with the inmates running the libraries? That's what happens here, it's a job for a couple of the inmates who have special privileges, trusties, (I don't know what you call them there) and it works very well indeed. Or am I being too futuristic in thinking that could happen in Illinois??????
