In a lot of the topics I've been reading a lot of you have said that sometimes you go to the prison to visit and they won't let you in. Is this a regular thing? What reasons do they give? I really hope I don't travel all the way from Australia and then get turned away. Does anyone know anything about the Federal Prison at Jesup in Georgia? ANYTHING you guys can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey, I am planning to travel from Europe to the US to visit someone and I got great advise here. They've told me that you should apply for a special visit. So contact the prison and explain them that you are coming from all the way on the other side of the world, and that if it would be possible to get a special visit.

yes, definitely write and say you are travelling from a distance. they should give you extra hours then, this can range from 1 extra hour to 3 or 4, depending on the space. you will need to write the warden, fax it if you can if you are going soon. if you haven't head in a week, ring them and find out what is going on. some don't write back.

i think being banned from a visit is quite rare. they have to suspect you are carrying contraband or find it on you. or you have to have done something bad on the visit (like have sex).

If you click on the following URL it may have the visiting rules on line ... I couldn't see them. I don't know if they are listed with the facility as they are with the IDOC and I didn't know the name of the place you were going. Good luck!
