View Full Version : Can a person work in a school with a felony record? lack10 02-12-2012, 03:54 PM An you work with schools with a felony patchouli 02-12-2012, 04:06 PM Not a public school system. Perhaps in a college setting, but definitely not grades K-12. lack10 02-13-2012, 05:15 AM Why not patchouli 02-13-2012, 05:31 AM Read the application for your local school system, they do not hire felons.......here in ky, any parent with a felony can't even accompany their child on a field trip. One application for a school system in a different county than me even stated that if you had a felony not to bother filling out the application. Its generally standard policy for school systems to not hire felons. lack10 02-13-2012, 03:50 PM You should move yourself 02-13-2012, 08:21 PM in what capacity and what's the felony? Public schools are a bit weird, and you can't get a job there with a SO. You'll have a hard time getting any job there with a felony, but it is possible. My bro had a job with the local high school in WI with a drug felony on his record, so it is possible. And, it was a job dealing with kids (coaching). If public schools won't allow it in your area, try private schools, parochial schools, and the like. Otherwise, if you have your heart set on teaching and you have a sex offense, try teaching at the college level, and through outreach to adults - literacy, GED classes, classes to the incarcerated, and adult ed classes through churches and the like. |
