HISTORY:
Houses medium security general population inmates who may not be suitable for a county facility due to their offense or physical limitations.

HOUSING:
Consists of four and one-half buildings with 96 double-bunked cells each. Two housing units consist of four dormitories, one housing approximately 55 per dorm and the other housing approximately 50 per dorm. There are 24 isolation cells and 24 segregation cells.

Hi, does anyone have a love one at Wilcox State Prison. How is the prison and visitation?

My son was just sent to Wilcox State Prison. He got to call the very first day he was there. I know the visitation hours start at 9.00. Will I have to be there at wilcox exactly 9.00?

My son is at Wilcox State Prison. I went to visit him for the first time last Saturday. The visit was great. Everyone was great at the prison. Need any information just contact me.

Sweetpeach that should be all you need. The person processing the mail at the prison likes it if you put the dorm number on the letter too but it is not necessary. For what it is worth this is how I would write out the address on the envelope.

my son is at wilcox,his tpm is feb 2009 its the 6 having heard anything yet.i been calling the autmated number still says feb 2009 i called parole board they told me he will be released they are waiting on them to come check his address does anyone no how long this will take

my brothers was jan 09,,dont worry,,or try not to,,th pb is running behind,,call your local office and ask if they have gotten his paperwork yet,,sometimes they are the holdup!!!

Hello everyone just found out today that My brother inlay just got transferred to Wilcox.. Does anyone know how long they have to be there before they can have visitors? Is this place okay or what do we the family need to expect?

My brother In law is there I was told that I could not visit due to prior convictions that I have so yes they are strict...

Do they have any special rules for writing an inmate, for instance you cannot write an inmate unless you are on their visitors list?

That is still the correct address. Apparently people who are not on the visitor's list can write. My husband's ex wrote him, this happened last year so things may have tighted up. You never can tell what will go through, it depends on who is in the mail room that day.

He will get the mail even without the dorm number. Make sure you include a return address or your letter will not be given to the inmate.

i was told today that you have to set it up differently and put more information on the envelope to ensure that they get it.:confused:

When my husband first got to Wilcox they sent several of my letters back because I did not know his House # or his Room #. Now I make sure to include all of his numbers on his mail when I contact him. I have never included the street name or number, everything is routed to the PO Box #.
