I Talked To My Girl Yesterday And She Informed Me That Stateville Has Started Handing Out Pinkslips. She Said 7 Alone In Her Department. Wasn't To Sure As To How Many In Other Departments Though. One Woman Has Been Ther Since 1978 And She Got The Boot, Another Was Delivering Her Child Yesterday And Was Fired At The Same Time, She Still Doesn't Know She No Longer Has A Job. So It Looks Like Whatever They Are Planning Is In The Process Of Taking Place. Oh Joy, Can't Wait To See What Happens Now. Now We Wait And See When The Major Transfering Begins, Because I Am Sure That Is The Next Step. She Said Nothing Was Said As To Why They Let So Many People Go, Or When The Next Round Of Firing May Happen, Or If They Are Actually Even Closing, But All Signs Are Pointing In The Direction.

As it's started happening at the Ville then I expect all admin staff will be getting them soon. Well, no job is for life now so they'd better get used to living in the real world.
The Governor's budget said this would happen so it's nothing to do with closing Stateville down, it's just a budget cut that was announced a couple of months ago. all prisons will be affected and the Wardens are to lose their secretaries, too, or that's what I understood when I read everything.
I'm surprised that people working within IDOC didn't know this was going to happen. Have they had their heads in the sand because it's been well documented?

By the way, Vandalia staff have got notice this week, but we know that's closing, and there were pink slips being handed out at Pontiac, COs included, so it looks as if all the dead wood is being shed to say money, everywhere.
There are some not very happy bunnies going to work this week!!!

Yes, Rose is I agree with her, they were cutting the guards first and now they are down to Admin, the budget cut was going to occur anytime this year. Stateville will not be closing, reason being they closed Joliet which was the process center for inmates, they transfered everything to Stateville. They are just cutting the admin and that puts more responsiblity on others, I should know because that is how I was laid off from both jobs at Hospitals because of budget cuts. So yes it happens to anyone.
Yes They Were Informed About A Month Ago To Expect It. And The Rumors Of It Closing This Year Are Gone. But Who's To Say It Won't Happen Next. I Also Heard The Thomson Was Going To Open Eventually, But They Are Working On Changing It To A Regular Prison Like Stateville, Menard, Etc. Which Means They Will Have To Add A Yard, Contact Visiting Room, Etc. We'll See What Happens Though. As We All Know The Rumors Fly Like Rampid Through That Place. Oh Well What Happens, Happens. I Am Out Of Here, Talk To You All Whenever! Take Care!
