I AM WRITING THIS POST HOPING SOMEONE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP ME OR REFER ME TO SOMONE WHO MAY BE ABLE TO HELP ME . I AM LOOKING TO RETAIN A LAWYER FOR MY FATHER, HE IS PRESENTLY IN FORT MADISON , IOWA STATE PEN. HE HAS BEEN DOWN SINCE 1988, IT IS A COMPLICATED CASSE . JUST LET ME SAY HE HAS BEEN GRANTED A CERTIFICATE OF APPEAL IN 2000, GROUNDS GRANTED BY UNSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE TO CONVICT & UNEFFECTIVE REPRESENTATION BY TRIAL & APPEALANT COUNCEL, MY FATHER HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO APPEAL ON THIS ORDER. THERE WAS A ARTICLE PRINTED IN THE DES MOINES REGISTER IN MAY 2003, NAMING MY FATHER AS 1 OF THE 62 INMATES IN IOWA THAT WERE BEING CONSIDERED BY GOV. VILSACK OF IOWA FOR EXECUTIVE CLEMENCY. WE HAVE HEARD NOTHING ON THIS & THE COURTS HAVE SINCE ORDERED NO FILINGS OF MY FATHERS CASE WILL BE ACCEPTED BY COURT CLERK . MY FATHER HAS BEEN APPOINTED A COUPLE LAWYERS IN THESE PAST YEARS , ONLY S/W THEM 3XS TOTAL REST OF THE TIME HE HAS BEING GOING PRO CE ??
IM NOT SURE WHAT I CAN DO BY RETAINING A ATTORNY FOR HIS CASE BUT IVE LOOKED OVER ALL COURT RECORDS & DOCUMENTS & SEE NO REASON WHY MY FATHER IS STILL THERE . HE WAS SERVED A LIFE SENTENCE , HIS CHARGE WAS KIDNAPPING 1 DEGREE, ORIGINALLY A LESSER CHARGE BUT THEY ADDED 2 ENHANCEMENTS ON TO MAKE A CHARGE THAT CARRIES LIFE .HE HAS NEVER BEEN BEFORE A PAROLE BOARD & NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FULLY APPEAL HIS CASE .I HOPE SOMEBODY CAN DIRRECT ME IN THE RIGHT PATH TO HELP ME . My Father Has Been Appointed A Couple Lawyers In These Past Years , Only S/w Them 3xs Total Rest Of The Time He Has Being Going Pro Ce ??
Im Not Sure What I Can Do By Retaining A Attorny For His Case But Ive Looked Over All Court Records & Documents & See No Reason Why My Father Is Still There . He Was Served A Life Sentence , His Charge Was Kidnapping 1 Degree, Originally A Lesser Charge But They Added 2 Enhancements On To Make A Charge That Carries Life .he Has Never Been Before A Parole Board & Never Been Able To Fully Appeal His Case .i Hope Somebody Can Direct Me In The Right Path To Help Me . I Will Be Taking A Trip To Iowa Next Week To S/w My Father Regarding All Legal Aspects. If You Feel You Can Help Or Know Of Any Agency Or Attorneys Who Would Be Interested Please Contact Me Asap.

Hello Iowa, I found a attorney , Ive also recieved a letter from Gov. Vilsack saying he would send my fathers case for review, Senetor Hrkin also responded to my letters i sent them , he referred me to a few offices he thought might help. im hoping everything goes good for my father . good luck to everyone who is fighting for thier loved ones who are locked up. Dont quit !!! Dont let anyone make you lose sight.

Thanks , Let Me Update You On Whats Going On Now , I S/w Gov Vilsacks Office Today They Are Sending The Application To My Dad Hes Up For Executive Clemency, I Dont Exactly Know What This Means But Im Sure Its Good They Called Me At Work To Tell Me & To Let Me Know Ill Be Recieving A Ltr From The Judicial Branch Hoping Hell Get Out Soon Thanks Again

Clemency: it means mercy, forgiveness, leniency. The governor is the only one that can sign this document. The pb has no involment with this process. That's my understanding anyway.

We all hope that it goes well for your father. He is a very fortunate man. He has you in his corner fighting for him.
