So I called around and they gave me the number to the number to the main office in Atlanta. I got his #'s and found out he's in Baldwin. Now I need some info about this place. Has anybody had a loved one go there? My guess is he can't use the phone, cause he hasn"t called me yet. But I need to know for sure anyway. Also about visitation and mail and all that good stuff. Is it a good place to be? Can they smoke cigs there? lol he was hoping he could smoke a cig! Any help and info are greatly appreciated as always.

Hi Jenifer04,
I wanted to fill you in on Baldwin. My fiance' had been there before but he is actually in Bostick S.P. right up the street. Anyway, if he just got there he will have to go through orientation. After that they will assign him to a bed and dorm if they haven't already. It will take them a couple of days to get your number on his list. You can call down there and find out who is coulnselor is. You should be able to talk to him/her about your loved one if you have any concerns etc. The visitation is from 9-3. I believe they allow smoking during "smoke" breaks. The mail is basically the same, nothing out of the way...they are aloud pictures, etc. I hope I have helped you out. If you have any questions you can PM me and I'll let you know.

My baby went through diagnostics there in January, and is also up the street, at Rivers SP. You have a lot more privileges at Baldwin than Jackson, such as phone calls. After about a week, he was able to call every day. I could not visit though because only immediate family during diagnostics. He did smoke while there. Like MsHouse said call and speak with his counselor. They were helpful when I called. Feel free to PM me.
