I went up to our Human Resource manager at work the other day to do my name change, and to chnage my tax info to married instead of single. While I was up there I asked to add my (incarcerated) husband to my health insurance, and they did! I couldn't believe it. I thought for sure they would tel me NO. She was like, I'm not sure if he's going to need it, but he can be added. I was so glad. I mean I'm paying out of my check for family coverage anyway because of our son, so why not add my husband! Just wanted to share a little good news with you guys.

That is cool! It is great to hear that we are not restricted from that advantage. Now it would just be nice if you could find some way for your husband to actually benefit from it!

that is cool.... nice to have it as "back up" in case he DOES ever have a medical issue.... maybe you would have MORE hope of him getting appropriate care if DOC knows the state wouldn't necessarily have to pay for it!

I had been wondering if that was possible to do! I wondered if it would have any bearing on the prisons health if an outside doctor with his chart could say "he's not getting the right attention". Will you let us know if they take it away and let us know the reason?
