How does the good time work when an inmate is at class 1 (30 for 30)? Does that mean that every 30 days they do they get 30 days off of their sentence?

View Full Version : Good Time?! love-austin 04-27-2004, 03:20 PM How does the good time work when an inmate is at class 1 (30 for 30)? Does that mean that every 30 days they do they get 30 days off of their sentence? countrys_guirl 04-27-2004, 03:34 PM I have no clue...does your guy not know? He could ask someone in classification about that, I'm sure. juliwaits 04-27-2004, 05:52 PM yeah, at class one every day served counts as 2. but if they get a disciplinary they can lose all their good time. example: after 30 days as class1, the inmate has 60 days credit. class 2 earns 20 days good time per month, class III earns 10 days good time per month, class iv does not earn good time. For more info go here: http://www.state.ar.us/doc/pdf/handbook.pdf it's a booklet put out by constituent services. misstussey42 04-27-2004, 09:53 PM Good times comes off of what they actually do before parole right? It is all so confusing. Terry is a class 2. He has 20 something days before he can become a class 1 (hopefully)!!!!!! juliwaits 04-28-2004, 12:07 AM mstussey - if you go to ADC's website and do an inmate search on your boyfriend/husband you'll actually see his TE/PE date change after his class changes. So yes, his parole eligibility date will get closer because of good time. They calculate it like this: Inmate is class 2, if inmate continues to be class 2, he she will be eligible for parole on X date. Inmate earns class 1. Inmate is class 1, if inmate continues to be class 1, he/she will be eligible for parole on X date (sooner). So, if inmate gets a disciplinary, he goes back to class 4 and the TE/PE date will go the OTHEr way (later). By the way, they'll also give him credit (at class 2) for the time he served at county. TE/PE is transfer eligibility/parole eligibility. it's their parole eligibility date. The reason they also call it transfer eligibility is when they make parole they're actually considered "transferred" to supervision of parole. The parole papers wont say "your parole is granted," it will say "transfer to...xxx (i forget what it's called " Watch the date on the ADC website. It's FAB when you see it move closer! My husband's te/pe date is 7/28/04 - i can't remember where it started, but it moved up twice - once when they gave him his good time for the time he served at county, and once when he earned his class one. Then, even though he's not eligible for parole til July, the IPO (institutional parole officer) set up a meeting with him in February to tell him his parole hearing was in March. If he'd have made parole without stipulations, that would mean that the longest he'd be there was 7/28/04 as long as he didn't get a disciplinary, but the EPA (i think that's what the overcrowding prevention act is called) would kick in every three months, and he would go home even sooner! (you go home on your pe/te date or when the EPA kicks in, whichever is sooner) countrys_guirl 04-28-2004, 09:42 PM Hang on Julie...on the disciplinary thing, I think they only go back to later if the disciplinary officer orders loss of good time. & there is only a certain number of days that can be taken from them on the good time earned. They usually do take good time away with a disciplinary, but not always. JC juliwaits 04-29-2004, 06:59 AM ahhh, you're right. thanks for the clarification. they COULD lose some or all of it. Thank God my hubby is behaving himself in there!! He just found out they need a "white, class 1" inmate to be a hall porter so he's applied for it. He's PUMPED up because that means pressed whites all the time! I know how happy that would make him. countrys_guirl 04-29-2004, 03:58 PM Your welcome! That's great about your dh! I'm sure he's looking forward to not just having "pressed" whites, but NEW whites--always super-white, bright & starched :D...hope he gets it, that's a pretty posh job in prison ;). JC misstussey42 04-29-2004, 05:03 PM I am ready to see Terry's date change. Oh yeah! I forgot to let ya'll know that the Warden did change Terry's work schedule. He is sewing now. He did get a day shift and when I asked him yesterday what his blood sugar was - he said it was 131!! :yay: (Whoopee!!!) Juliwaits - I hope he gets the job he is wanting! Everytime Terry comes walking through for visitation I think "Lord, give me an iron please!!":) When Terry's 60 days are over I should see a change in his PE date then? juliwaits 04-29-2004, 05:44 PM mstussey, well my hubby was getting his visitation whites pressed BUT i found out he can get a disciplinary for having pressed whites when his job doesn't call for it. so i've been telling him -"try to get those creases out of the collar!" He was paying a guy some "cakes" to press em, but the ADC looks on that as "trafficing and trading" and they'll getcha! After he makes class 1, give the website about a week to update and you should see his TE/PE date move closer :) love-austin 04-30-2004, 09:56 AM Will the pe/te dates move up some more even though he is already at class 1? juliwaits 04-30-2004, 06:00 PM love-austin, i don't think so. I don't see how it could. My husband's didn't. Once you get class one, that's pretty much it - you just gotta wait. |
